Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1128 - 606: Asteroid Impact on Earth (Part 3)

”Be careful!” Xu Xin pulled her up, ”The ground is very slippery around here.”

Xu Ying stared at the giant pit below: ”Wasn’t this the place where the soft giant beast was? Sigh, too late, it’s already gone...”

Her face was filled with regret.

”What exactly is that big guy?” Xu Xin asked her, ”I used my mind-reading ability to hear its thoughts at the time. It knew who I was, and when we escaped, it was thanks to its help.”

”It’s a very powerful giant beast that my brother raised. Oh, not you, I meant that brother.”

Xu Ying pointed to the sky.

”...There’s no need to explain.” Xu Xin felt speechless.

”Oh yes. I don’t really understand it much either, just know that it’s a giant beast that’s undergone genetic mutation by insects, possessing extremely strong defense, and its soft yet flexible body can counter almost any attack, even consuming enemies attacking it directly through its surface.”

Truly a giant insect.

Thinking back to the behavior of this giant insect devouring the giant beast, it indeed seemed just as Xu Ying described.

”Moreover, most importantly, this giant insect has an incredibly strong reproduction ability. If it goes full throttle, it can lay millions of eggs every few days, which hatch quickly, similar in size to those giant insects in the underground world,” Xu Ying continued to explain.

”The Insect Race, or the Insect Mother?” Xu Xin realized.

”Yes, my brother used to call it the Insect Mother.”

Xu Ying nodded.

”Because the Insect Mother’s genes are quite chaotic, the traits of the insects hatched from its eggs vary greatly, ranging from flying in the sky, crawling on the ground, to burrowing underground. I even suspect that a great portion of those giant insects in the underground world might be its offspring.”

Even the giant insects in the underground world are related to this Insect Mother!

Xu Xin took a deep breath, looking down at the empty giant pit, and suddenly felt a pang of heartache.

”If only it hadn’t left...”

Back then, this giant insect even helped him, clearly taking his side.

If only they could have recruited it...

”An endless insect army.” Li Wenxi imagined it, ”It itself also has super strong defense, able to protect the World Tree... Oh my god, what did we miss out on!”

”Sigh...” In contrast to just now, Xu Ying’s mood had already started to sink, staring blankly at the giant pit below: ”I thought we could gain this Insect Mother this time... In the end, I overthought it.”

She turned to look at the suspended pillar-like prison.

”I was wondering before what could subdue the Insect Mother, turns out to be the ’Stabilizing Sea Needle’ made of meteoric iron. Only such a thing can suppress the Insect Mother, I suppose... Sigh, now we can only hope it ran away by itself, and wasn’t captured by alien invaders, or else...”

The Insect Mother...

Couldn’t have imagined there was such a great beast.

”It shouldn’t have been captured,” Xu Xin speculated, trying to comfort himself, ”If it could be captured, they probably would have done so earlier, wouldn’t have gone to such great lengths to suppress it here.”

Oh right!

The Insect Mother once let out a powerful infrasonic roar, causing everyone to feel chest pain, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

Back then, Xu Xin didn’t have mind-reading abilities and it was Keke who translated for him.

What it meant at the time was not to tease it anymore, otherwise, it would destroy itself along with this place.

And the regulators here were clearly also very afraid of it.

Thinking about it this way, the other party indeed probably didn’t have the capacity to capture and take it away.

Xu Xin let out a small sigh of relief.

”Since the situation in this underground world is basically understood, let’s head up first, and everyone can discuss the situation here. Oh right.” Xu Xin looked at Xu Ying, ”We should be able to delegate the permissions, right?”

”Of course we can, hm, let’s go back first.” Xu Ying grabbed their wrists.

”Huh? Wait a second, shouldn’t we first check out the minerals here?” Li Wenxi was itching about the mineral resources of this underground world.

”Let’s go up first, and then you can bring more people down to investigate.”

”Oh, okay, that works.”
