Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1118 - 603: What Exactly Is the Treehouse? (2)

Everyone nodded.

This explanation sounds somewhat inexplicable, but it is indeed the truth.

Ever since they arrived in this world and planted the tree houses, they have been using the synthesis tables and weapon manufacturing tables within the tree houses to rapidly produce various tools, furniture, and weapons.

And in the subsequent activities, after unlocking decoration and functional zones, functions like smelting and planting have greatly improved.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the tree house is a small industrial factory.

”And you survivors are the owners of these ’production workshops’, possessing the ability to use these ’workshops’; hence, other survivors are equally important.”

Xu Ying looked at those tree houses outside, as well as the temporarily constructed stone buildings: ”If possible, we need as many survivors as we can; this will greatly improve our production efficiency.”

Ordinary survivors also have great utility.

”Oh, by the way, there’s one more thing: the tree house itself possesses considerable ability. The small tree house seeds you planted are developed by us, inherently intended to provide you a place to live, but for some reason, the invaders hijacked it.”

Xu Ying frowned slightly.

”The capabilities of the tree house are locked, and can only be unlocked step by step through certain ’activities’, followed by a gradual selection process.”

The confusion in Xu Ying’s heart did not diminish.

I don’t know what they want to achieve. Could it be to study mutated humans?

The situation within that world tree is still somewhat incomprehensible to her.

And in room number 5, filled with terrifying half-human, half-monster experimental subjects encased in capsules.

That experiment might even be conducted secretly against other alien invaders.

This gives her a rather ominous feeling.

At this moment, Wang Lei asked, ”Among us survivors, there are two million people, each with a tree house seed. Did you develop all of these?”

”That’s certainly impossible.” Xu Ying shook her head, ”We probably only sent over thirty thousand people to a millennia into the future, as that’s the size of our team, and initially sending you over was merely to allow us to arrive at that era; we couldn’t send so many people to the future.”

”Then, who exactly are the current survivors...” Zhao Xiaochuan spoke with a trace of doubt.

”... Certainly the work of alien invaders.” Xu Ying’s gaze darkened.

It should be the same creature that, like her, traveled through time.

The same creature Shi Wanyun saw, an entirely pitch-black monster with many eyes, bearing some resemblance to humans... a half-human, half-monster.

”Weren’t the tree house seeds developed by you?” Ji Chaoyang asked.

”The small tree house seeds were developed by us but were fundamentally based on the alien invaders’ original research.” Xu Ying explained, ”The tree houses you live in are mutant forms of banyans.”

Indeed, both the small tree house and the world tree are essentially banyans, and banyans are a form of life on Earth.

”Actually, the first to appear were not the small tree houses you’ve been residing in, but these enormous world trees.” Xu Ying glanced out at the endless barren plains.

The world tree appeared before the tree houses?

”The world tree was first researched by alien invaders using banyans from our Earth, conducting countless genetic modification experiments and ultimately developing it as a tool for colonization on this planet.

They merely needed to carry one seed to allow a giant world tree to rise abruptly, controlling a region, extremely conveniently.

Within years of the world tree’s development, vast areas on the other hemisphere were already under its influence. And we, by the seventeenth year of our captivity, lived in the world tree.”

After surveying the expressions of those around her, she continued: ”And the small tree houses you possess were developed based on a world tree seed we critically acquired; they are a miniaturized version of the world tree easily mass-produced.”

This revelation astonished everyone.

So, the world tree was the original tree house?

And it was researched by alien invaders!

”The reason we managed to develop small tree houses ahead of them was that they had no demand for personal small tree houses.” Xu Ying sighed, reluctantly stating, ”For alien invaders, it’s not difficult to mass-produce small tree house seeds. If they wish, they can achieve it.”

”So that’s how it is...” Xu Xin nodded slowly.

Alien invaders capable of transforming ordinary banyans into massive world trees undoubtedly could easily mass-produce small tree houses.

Arguably, these small tree houses may have been researched during their process of making ordinary banyans giant and transforming them into world trees, but being deemed useless wastage, hadn’t been utilized.

After all, they were too small; they needed larger ones.

But now, they seem to have mass-produced these seeds and used them on human survivors.

”Obviously, the small tree house seeds we developed are meticulously cultivated and experimented upon, thus they are plainly superior in functionality to their mass-produced seeds.”

Xu Ying patted the wall of the tree house: ”This tree house clearly is the one we developed. Functionally speaking, under the influence of the world tree, all tree house functionalities have no restrictions. Even so, your tree houses are still much stronger than other survivors’ tree houses.”
