Berserk God of War

46: Chapter 046: City Lord Order, Yunzhou Grand Competition 46: Chapter 046: City Lord Order, Yunzhou Grand Competition “The thing I regret most is not burying you alive in the pig farm,” Su Xuefeng seethed, bloodlust brewing in his eyes as he stepped forward with Su Zhengtao, bellowing, “Everyone heed my command…”

Before he could finish, a thundering voice came from outside, “Patriarch Su Xuefeng of the Su Family, come out and receive the City Lord Order!”

The moment this voice sounded, Su Xuefeng, who had been in the midst of his crazed brewing, felt as though a pail of cold water had been dumped over him, making him unbearably uncomfortable.

At this crucial juncture, what could the City Lord want?

The entire audience was also exchanging puzzled looks, wondering what order the City Lord could be issuing at this time.

“Su Xuefeng, didn’t you hear?” the voice outside sounded again.

Suppressing his rage, Su Xuefeng glared at Sikong Jing and the others through gritted teeth, “You’ll just live a little longer.”

After saying this, he had no choice but to go outside.

Next, the City Lord’s Guard who had delivered the City Lord Order announced, “The Lord of Yunzhou is holding the Yunzhou Grand Tournament.

As one of Yunye City’s Four Great Families, the Su Family must send at least one young member to participate.”

Upon hearing this voice reverberate into the hall, a wave of shock arose from the crowd—it was the Yunzhou Grand Tournament.

“However, Yunye City only has three spots, so in seven days, there will be a selection held in Yunye City.

Prepare well,” said the City Lord’s Guard before turning to leave with the order…

In that moment, Su Xuefeng was thoroughly stunned.

Who from the Su Family could possibly participate in the tournament now?

Su Shan was dead, Su Yang was severely injured, and Su Yun didn’t know any martial arts…

The other collateral family members were even less competent in a fight; what kind of competition would that be?

But this tournament was definitely crucial.

If they could secure a spot to go to Yunzhou, or even achieve a good ranking in the Yunzhou Grand Tournament, the Su Family’s status in Yunye City would be even more secure.

On the other hand, if the other Three Great Families secured good rankings, they would certainly bite the Su Family to death.

“Damn criminal, my Su Shan, oh my Su Shan!” Su Xuefeng raged inwardly.

If Su Shan hadn’t been killed, one of those three spots would have been effortlessly theirs.

Suddenly, an inspiration struck him, and he called out, “Please wait, Your Honor.

I wonder if our Su Family’s son-in-law could participate?”

He was, of course, referring to Sikong Jing.

With the criminal’s combat strength, he was sure to secure a spot if allowed to participate.

The City Lord’s Guard halted his steps, retorting, “Your son-in-law?

You don’t mean that criminal who was granted marriage by the Lord of Yunzhou, do you?”

With his teeth clenched, Su Xuefeng nodded emphatically.

Although he loathed Sikong Jing and wished to eradicate him, at this moment, he was the only one in the Su Family with the strength to fight.

A twitch formed at the City Lord’s Guard’s mouth, and he barked in anger, “Are you joking?

If he were a regular son-in-law, there would be no issue, but how could you let a criminal participate in such an important event like the Yunzhou Grand Tournament?”

Mouth agape, Su Xuefeng found himself unable to speak—indeed, a criminal had no eligibility to participate; he couldn’t even leave the city gates.

Watching the City Lord’s Guard depart, Su Xuefeng returned to the hall with a dark expression, his killing aura fixated on Su Zhenglong and the others.

“You heard what was just said, didn’t you?”

“Originally, I intended to give you a chance to redeem yourselves, but unfortunately, your son-in-law is nothing but a damned criminal.”

Inside, Su Xuefeng seethed with hatred.

Su Zhenglong and Mei Xiaofang also sighed secretly.

This was supposed to be the perfect opportunity for reconciliation.

But why did Sikong Jing have to be a criminal?

“Now you’ll still have to die,” Su Xuefeng’s killing intent surged once again.

At this critical moment, Su Yun’s voice rang out, “Grandfather, I think we really should give them a chance to redeem themselves.”

“What?”

Disbelieving, Su Zhengtao looked toward his daughter.

Sikong Jing had killed your elder brother, and his body isn’t even cold yet!

To offer them a chance, was Su Yun playing some trick?

Su Yun, however, let out a sneer and said, “A criminal cannot participate, but his wife certainly can.”

Huh?

Everyone present was stunned upon hearing this and immediately looked at Su Yuexi.

Mei Xiaofang’s mouth fell open, and she couldn’t help but exclaim, “Su Yun, what kind of joke are you making?

Yue Xi doesn’t know martial arts.”

However, Su Xuefeng’s eyes lit up, his mind racing, and a plan suddenly formed in his head.

“That’s right, let this ugly freak participate in the selection.”

“You’ve always accused me of being heartless and unfaithful, haven’t you?”

“You killed Little Shan, but as his grandfather, I can let bygones be bygones, as long as Su Yuexi secures a spot to advance to the Yunzhou grand competition from Yunye City, I might even give you a substantial reward.”

Su Xuefeng issued the words deliberately, his aged face twisted grotesquely, his mind evidently scheming.

From a distance, Su Yun exhaled a long breath.

Damn it, I was afraid the grand competition in Yunzhou would require a direct descendant of the Su Family to participate; besides Su Yuexi, the only option left would be myself.

Of course, I couldn’t possibly go to my death, so Su Yuexi couldn’t die yet.

“Impossible, Yue Xi doesn’t know a thing about martial arts, how could you not send Su Yun?” Mei Xiaofang objected subconsciously.

Even the selection in Yunye City was no joke, people could very well die there.

Moreover, sending someone who doesn’t know martial arts into the fight, wouldn’t they be humiliated and broken by their opponent?

Even if she had to die now, Mei Xiaofang did not want her daughter to be the laughingstock and humiliation of the entire city.

“I am willing to participate.” Suddenly, a clear voice from Su Yuexi rang out.

Underneath her veil, her face was full of determination.

Agreeing to this condition was the only way to save her family, the only way to appease Grandfather’s anger over Su Shan’s death, and so she didn’t hesitate.

With that said, Su Yuexi then turned to Sikong Jing beside her and bit her lip, “Brother Jing, please don’t stop me.”

Sikong Jing was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled and said, “I wasn’t planning to stop you, if you want to participate, then go ahead.”

Now that Su Yuexi’s Crimson Spider Poison had been cured and the factors that restricted her growth had vanished, Sikong Jing had examined her body the previous night and found her martial arts talent was definitely strong.

With a full seven days left, it was enough time for him to help her grow.

Today, he would make Su Yuexi stunningly incomparable.

And in seven days, he would make Su Yuexi…

unparalleled in Yunye City!

“Damn it, Sikong Jing, are you insane?” Mei Xiaofang exploded at once.

Yet, Su Xuefeng laughed heartily, “Truly my good granddaughter, bring someone immediately to the City Lord Mansion and register Su Yuexi.”

A member of the Su Family obeyed the order, hurriedly left the Su household, and headed for the City Lord Mansion.

Su Zhenglong and Mei Xiaofang’s mouths hung open; it was already too late to stop it.

“Let everyone disperse,” Su Xuefeng declared, waving his hand.

Suddenly, all the Su Family elites who had surrounded Sikong Jing and his companions withdrew.

This birthday celebration had bizarrely returned to normal.

If it weren’t for Su Shan’s body still lying there, it would seem as though nothing had happened.

At that moment, Luo Tong’s voice rang out, “Haha, congratulations to Master Su on acquiring such an excellent son-in-law, the one who brought ruin upon the Su Family’s future by his own hand.”

As soon as these words were spoken, Su Xuefeng nearly erupted in anger, but he managed to suppress it.

“Husband, Old Master Su is doing this to ensure that this ugly freak dies on the platform, at which point a certain impulsive criminal won’t be able to resist rushing up to save her and will then be slashed to death by random blades,” Luo Tong’s wife laughed gleefully, as if she had seen right through Su Xuefeng’s thoughts.
