Before Su Yuexi could finish, Mei Xiaofang interrupted again, “As for the matter of merit, it’s a once-in-a-thousand-years occurrence.”

“There aren’t so many good things, and no general is as good as Chou Ye.”

As for Chou Ye, Mei Xiaofang was extremely grateful; without his intervention, today’s events would have certainly been unresolved.

He must be a truly good person.

Regarding this, Sikong Jing felt it necessary to set the record straight.

Chou Ye was by no means a good person; whenever any officer under Sikong Jing dared to tamper with justice, the punishment was immediate execution.

“Mother-in-law, in truth, it was I who single-handedly wiped out the Fierce Beast bandits.

Chou Ye stole my credit,” Sikong Jing said.

As soon as these words were spoken, even the weakened Su Zhenglong couldn’t help but lift his head.

Mei Xiaofang exploded at once, “What nonsense are you talking about?

I really doubt you were exiled for boasting.”

“You, a mere Bright Realm, single-handedly took down the entire Fierce Beast bandits group?”

Opening his mouth, Sikong Jing was again at a loss for words.

At this moment, even Su Yuexi couldn’t help but look over, her eyes filled with bewilderment; of course, she also thought Sikong Jing was exaggerating too much.

“Alright, I misspoke.”

“In fact, I’m responsible for at least half of the merit, but Chou Ye only gave me a bit of Gold Crystal Coins,” Sikong Jing could only put it this way, as no one believed him!

“That’s more like it.

Don’t complain; for them to give you, a criminal, even a bit of merit is already not bad,” although Mei Xiaofang still had some doubts about the truth of half the credit, she couldn’t bear to crush her son-in-law any further.

After all, his feelings for Yue Xi were indeed sincere.

Su Zhenglong also lifted his eyelids and said, “Yes, you’re too straightforward.

Don’t ever argue with Chou Ye about merit.”

To this, Sikong Jing could only nod his head, no longer wishing to spoil the lovely feast.

Suddenly, Su Yun’s voice rose from outside, “Su Yuexi, criminal, get the hell out here.”

The family exchanged glances – what was Su Yun up to now?

Just as Su Yuexi was about to go out and see, Sikong Jing, with a cold expression, pressed her hand down and said, “There’s no need to pay attention to the barking of a mad dog.

If she has something to say, she can come in and say it.”

Indeed, seeing that the two did not come out, Su Yun hurried in.

Upon seeing them celebrating with fine wine and food, her anger could not find an outlet, and she screamed, “Criminal, was it you who forced Chu Family’s young master, Chu Bo, to kneel publicly, wasn’t it?”

As these words came out, Su Zhenglong and Mei Xiaofang looked at each other in confusion – what was up with Chu Bo?

“Yes, is there a problem?” Sikong Jing had no intention of denying it and wasn’t surprised that Su Yun had come knocking.

“You dare to ask if there’s a problem?”

“Do you not know that I was about to marry Chu Bo?

With your meddling, that whole affair has fallen through!”

“Family Head Chu, Chu Rongxian came to my door and gave me a vicious slap.”

Su Yun was gasping for breath, about to explode in fury.

But Sikong Jing merely shrugged his shoulders and said calmly, “That’s truly unfortunate, as Chu Bo was quite a good match for you.”

Both of them, one a profligate and the other arrogantly self-important, were indeed a perfect match.

Su Yun glared at Sikong Jing, then sharply turned towards Su Yuexi and continued, “You ugly freak, how shameless can you be?

Not only are you hideous, but you even made Chu Bo publicly declare you the most beautiful woman in the world.”

Upon hearing this, Su Yuexi was startled, her face a picture of bafflement.

“In my eyes, Yue Xi is indeed the most beautiful woman in the world.

Is there an issue?” Sikong Jing interjected once more.

Suddenly standing up again, Sikong Jing said coldly, “I’m warning you once more, if you dare call Yue Xi an ugly monster again, I’m afraid I really won’t be able to restrain myself from killing you right here and now.

Leave immediately.”

In an instant, a dense aura of murderous intent enveloped Su Yun, causing her to retreat step by step until she reached the entrance of the hall.

“Alright, alright, Grandfather has spoken,” she conceded.

“If the Chu Family comes to settle accounts, they will hand you over to them for disposal.

You all might as well wait for death.”

Having said that, Su Yun left in a huff.

This time Su Xuefeng and Su Zhengtao didn’t come together to question the crime; they had no temporary solution for Su Zhenglong, and coming would have only resulted in them being aggrieved.

As for Su Yun, she had come only because she couldn’t bear it any longer.

Peace returned to the hall and Sikong Jing, facing the puzzled looks from the Su Zhenglong couple, replied, “Chu Bo looked down on people with his dog’s eyes.

I just taught him a lesson on the spur of the moment.”

He made this statement nonchalantly.

But Mei Xiaofang’s mouth twitched violently as she asked again, “And what about Yue Xi being the number one beauty in the world?”

Hearing this, Sikong Jing told the truth as well.

It was indeed Chu Bo who lost a bet, and he also mentioned the engraving on the Green Jade Stone Plate, but Mei Xiaofang couldn’t bear to hear more, “You, you, you…

This is simply ridiculous.

Yue Xi still needs to save face.”

Everyone knows that Su Yuexi is the ugliest in Yunzhou, and now Sikong Jing has forced Chu Bo to say such things in public, making them the laughingstock of the entire city.

Does he think the blows that Yue Xi has suffered aren’t enough?

“Yue Xi is indeed the number one beauty in the world,” Sikong Jing said with a serious expression.

Su Yuexi’s heart trembled next to him; she bit her lip, feeling a mixture of sweetness and panic, and above all, completely clueless on how to react.

A beauty, and all that it entails, are parallel lines that will never intersect with her.

But Sikong Jing’s words also left Mei Xiaofang speechless, as any retort would hurt her daughter deeply.

After finishing the meal, Sikong Jing took Su Yuexi and left…

Only then did Mei Xiaofang, rubbing her aching head, say, “Master, I see clearly now what kind of criminal we’re dealing with, just a reckless fool.

Although he’s sincere toward Yuexi, he’s still very unreliable.”

Su Zhenglong could only offer a wry smile, his bigger concern being how much trouble it could cause.

“Let’s take it one step at a time,” sighed Su Zhenglong.

He had no better solution at the moment.

Meanwhile, in front of Su Yuexi’s room door.

“Thank you, Sikong Jing,” Su Yuexi said softly.

This gratitude contained so much, for risking his life to buy back the Jade hairpin, for the vindication of today, and for not abandoning her.

“You are my wife.

From now on, call me Brother Jing,” Sikong Jing said as he held her hand.

Her heart trembling, Su Yuexi opened her mouth, her face blushing to the root of her neck as she whispered, “Brother Jing.”

Sikong Jing smiled and was about to wave his hand and return to his room.

Suddenly, Su Yuexi called out softly again, “Brother Jing, I am not the number one beauty in the world; it will really become a joke.”

“If I say you are, then you are,” replied Sikong Jing without turning back, his voice firm and powerful, slowly fading away from Su Yuexi’s sight.

Back in his room, a glint flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes as he murmured to himself, “When I reach the Bright Realm Ninth Layer, I will make you the most dazzling beauty under the heavens.”

Immersed in cultivation, his True Qi flowed mightily, and the monster-like Dantian breathed out, circulating throughout his body.

As days went by, Su Yuexi’s family regained its peace.

In the blink of an eye, it was the night before Su Xuefeng’s birthday feast; the Su Family was bustling with preparations for the banquet.

But the courtyard of Su Zhenglong was eerily quiet.

Mei Xiaofang sighed all day long.

With Su Shan’s return, Sikong Jing’s life was hardly guaranteed.

Tomorrow would be the most difficult challenge yet!

Deep into the night, Sikong Jing opened his eyes in his room and a low voice sounded, “Bright Realm Ninth Layer achieved!”
