Berserk God of War

23: Chapter 023: One Gold Crystal Coin, Buying Your Lives 23: Chapter 023: One Gold Crystal Coin, Buying Your Lives As these words were spoken, everyone in the room widened their eyes, having a sudden realization.

“Su Yuexi is the ugliest woman in all Yunzhou, and that man who was just mentioned is her criminal husband.”

With that explanation, everyone understood.

You see, the matter of Su Yuexi being bestowed in marriage by the Lord of Yunzhou was a huge embarrassment for the Su Family, spreading all over Yunye City.

There was no one in the city who didn’t know about it.

“Damn it, to actually call Su Yuexi the number one beauty in the world, that’s disgusting.”

After everyone grasped what had happened, they couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of their mouths.

Was that criminal particularly skilled in disgusting people?

At the same time, Lu Zhao had quietly retreated back into Heavenly Martial Pavilion, taking in a breath of cold air and said, “A criminal exiled, married off by the Lord of Yunzhou, with Martial Intent carved into a Green Jade Stone Plate that only a Transcendent Martial Artist could inscribe…”

“This person must be extraordinary, absolutely not to be offended; perhaps he has some special mission.”

Lu Zhao then recalled Sikong Jing’s warning—it was exactly: Some things should not be asked excessively, lest they bring about fatal misfortune…

Shivering intensely, Lu Zhao tightened his grip on the Green Jade Stone Plate.

He resolved to keep his lips sealed, the Green Jade Stone Plate that had fallen into his lap must rot in his stomach, and secretly he rejoiced!

Meanwhile, Sikong Jing, carrying a hundred Gold Crystal Coins, headed back to the Su Residence on the same route.

Just as he was approaching the Su Residence, he saw at the entrance of an ordinary mansion courtyard, his mother-in-law Mei Xiaofang pacing anxiously, as if waiting for something.

Just as Sikong Jing was about to approach and greet her, a well-dressed middle-aged woman came out from inside the mansion.

Mei Xiaofang quickly stopped walking, her face full of smiles as she said, “Oh Mrs.

Liu, how come you’ve only just come out.”

As she spoke, her face was full of a flattering expression.

However, Mrs.

Liu’s face was full of aloofness, and she suddenly took out a small pouch from her bosom and said, “I have already heard about Lady Su’s situation.

Here’s some money for you, and it doesn’t need to be returned.”

Saying this, she threw out the small pouch.

Upon catching it, Mei Xiaofang excitedly looked at Mrs.

Liu and said, “Thank you, I really appreciate it.

I have asked many of my former good sisters, but only you, Mrs.

Liu, were willing to help me.”

Having said that, she took her leave, and carefully opened the small money pouch…

The next moment, her excited expression stiffened.

Mei Xiaofang turned around incredulously and stared blankly at Mrs.

Liu, “Ten, ten Copper Crystal Plates?”

She had come to borrow money, just as she had just told Mrs.

Liu.

In the past few days, she had contacted many of her so-called good sisters, but each of them had either driven her out or made excuses to avoid seeing her; only Mrs.

Liu was willing to help her and even made the loan a gift.

However, the small money pouch contained only ten Copper Crystal Plates, which wasn’t even enough to pay Aunt Li’s daily wage.

Mrs.

Liu narrowed her eyes and asked with a cold laugh, “Not enough?”

Mei Xiaofang’s face turned red and she said, “Mrs.

Liu, I am not a beggar.”

“Huh?

You’re not a beggar?

Who is constantly begging for money if not a beggar?” Mrs.

Liu sneered again, then added, “Giving you ten Copper Crystal Plates is already saintly of me, take the money and get out of here.”

After speaking, Mrs.

Liu turned around to go back inside.

From a distance, Sikong Jing’s eyes reddened, a fire of anger burning in his heart—this Mrs.

Liu was too much.

Just as he was about to step forward and argue, Mei Xiaofang suddenly called out, “Mrs.

Liu, please lend me a little more money, otherwise my son-in-law will be driven to death tomorrow.”

Instantly, Sikong Jing’s footsteps halted, and he was as if struck by lightning.

The reason Mei Xiaofang was begging Mrs.

Liu to lend money was because she feared being driven to death?

If within three days she couldn’t provide the wages for Aunt Li and other house servants, she would have to offer her own life, and her mother-in-law was implicitly hoping she would hurry and commit suicide.

But now, for her own sake, she was humbly begging for money, even if it meant being treated as a beggar.

At that moment, Sikong Jing’s heart felt as if it were being squeezed.

By the gate, Mrs.

Liu was sneering repeatedly, “What does it matter to me whether your son-in-law lives or dies?”

Mrs.

Liu still had an expression of utter heartlessness and ruthlessness.

“If he dies, Yue Xi probably won’t survive either.”

Mei Xiaofang cried out miserably and rushed toward the gate, pleading, “Mrs.

Liu, you watched Yue Xi grow up too, please lend me some money, I will surely repay you.”

Bang!

The gate slammed shut, and Mrs.

Liu’s voice came from inside, “Don’t nauseate me with that freak.”

Bang, bang, bang…

Mei Xiaofang kept knocking heavily on the gate, shouting, “Mrs.

Liu, the Liu Family owes its wealth and status to my husband Su Zhenglong’s help, you cannot be so ungrateful.”

Unfortunately, the gate of the Liu Family Mansion remained deathly silent, with no response.

Falling to the ground, Mei Xiaofang eyed the ten Copper Crystal Plates in her hand, her heart filled with extreme anguish.

When Su Zhenglong was in his prime, everyone fawned over him for favors.

The master of the Liu Family was initially just a mere blacksmith, whom Su Zhenglong had helped to rise to his position today.

But now, all she got in return was being called a beggar and the heartless sound of a slamming door.

After a long while, Mei Xiaofang left despondently.

Only after she had gone did the Liu Family’s gate reopen, and Mrs.

Liu, arm in arm with a middle-aged man, emerged chuckling coldly, “Husband, I finally drove that beggar hag away.”

“But giving her ten Copper Crystal Plates, won’t that displease Su Zhengtao, the Second Young Master Su?”

The middle-aged man was her husband, Liu Neng, who just laughed loudly.

“How could that be?”

“Second Young Master Su would be too pleased.

Ten Copper Crystal Plates to humiliate his sister-in-law might even infuriate his big brother Su Zhenglong to death, which is a bargain!”

Saying this, Liu Neng sighed again, “It’s a pity Su Yue Xi is just too unsightly now.

If she had the looks she did ten years ago…tsk tsk, I would have definitely made her my concubine.”

Mrs.

Liu giggled, teasing, “Darling, if she remained that pretty, she wouldn’t even be available for you.”

If Su Yue Xi had grown up beautifully without becoming unsightly, she would have been eagerly sought after long ago.

“That’s true, but covered with a veil, her figure isn’t bad.

Once Su Zhenglong is dead, it might be nice to have her come over for some fun.”

“Haha, let’s get dressed quickly and go to see Second Young Master Su for our reward.”

As Liu Neng spoke, he shut the door again.

But just as they turned around, they saw a young man standing in the courtyard, who appeared suddenly, eerily unnerving, like the angel of death.

“I am Su Yue Xi’s husband, Sikong Jing.”

Sikong Jing’s tall figure brought a gust of frosty wind, his eyes brimming with murderous intent.

Suddenly, the sound of a Gold Crystal Coin hitting the ground echoed.

“One Gold Crystal Coin, in exchange for your ten Copper Crystal Plates, and with the rest, I buy your lives.”

With that, Sikong Jing moved swiftly, grabbing both their necks and with a snap, he broke them instantly.

Liu Neng and his wife died with eyes wide open.
