Berserk God of War

31: Chapter 31 Sikong Jing is an Ingrate 31: Chapter 31 Sikong Jing is an Ingrate At this moment, within the Su Residence, in Su Yuexi’s courtyard.

Mei Xiaofang was anxiously tugging at Su Yuexi and loudly demanded, “Where is that criminal?

Why can’t he be found?”

Su Yuexi’s complexion was somewhat pale, and her eyes were baggy from not having slept all night.

Yesterday, after Sikong Jing left the Hengyu Pawnshop, he said he was going to leave the city to retrieve the Jade hairpin.

They had thought for sure that he would be stopped and brought back by the City Guard, but he had not returned home all night.

Now, Su Yuexi did not know whether Sikong Jing had managed to leave the city or had been captured and detained by the City Guard.

“Mother, Sikong Jing…

he…”

Just as she was about to explain the affair with the Hengyu Pawnshop, suddenly Aunt Li’s shrieking voice came from outside the courtyard, “Mei Xiaofang, we’re here for our money.

Your criminal son-in-law promised tenfold wages, and now you can pay us.”

With those words, the rustling of the crowd…

…suddenly, dozens of people appeared inside and outside the courtyard.

Among them were Aunt Li leading seven house servants demanding their wages, and a large number of Su Mansion Servants gathered around to watch.

Each one was eager to find out if Mei Xiaofang’s criminal son-in-law could indeed cough up the tenfold wages.

At that moment, Mei Xiaofang, pale-faced inside the hall, asked again, “Yuexi, is there any money left from pawning the Jade hairpin?”

Su Yuexi shook her head and said, “No, just three Gold Crystal Coins.”

And those three Gold Crystal Coins had already been given to Doctor Sun for treating her father Su Zhenglong, leaving Su Yuexi with nothing once again.

“But don’t worry, Mother—Sikong Jing has money.

I saw yesterday that he had a lot of Gold Crystal Coins in hand,” Su Yuexi quickly added, trying to comfort Mei Xiaofang, who looked very distressed.

“He has a lot of Gold Crystal Coins, but where on earth is he now?” Mei Xiaofang pressed.

No sooner had she finished speaking when Aunt Li’s voice rang out again, “Mei Xiaofang, pay up quickly, or don’t blame us for moving your things.”

After throwing a resentful glance at Su Yuexi, Mei Xiaofang could only rush out and say, “My son-in-law has gone to get the money and hasn’t come back yet.

When he returns, he’ll naturally be able to give you ten times the amount.

What’s the hurry?”

Although she didn’t quite believe Sikong Jing had a lot of Gold Crystal Coins, that was all Mei Xiaofang could say at the moment.

“Pfft…”

The next instant, a mocking laugh abruptly rose from within the crowd—it was Su Yun.

She sauntered out, smiling, “Aunt, I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed.

I’ve just received news that your criminal son-in-law forced his way out of the city yesterday and escaped!”

As these words fell, Su Yuexi, who had just stepped out of the hall, was directly stunned.

Had Sikong Jing truly managed to leave the city?

At the same time, Mei Xiaofang also showed a puzzled look and countered, “Why would Sikong Jing leave the city?”

She hadn’t quite understood yet, nor had she grasped the seriousness of Su Yun’s words.

Sikong Jing, a man with a criminal record, how dare he leave the city?

With a smile full of schadenfreude, Su Yun mocked, “Aunt, haven’t you figured it out yet?

Your son-in-law is a criminal.

Of course, his forcing his way out of the city means he’s trying to escape, to flee the cage that is Yunye City.”

Upon hearing this, Mei Xiaofang’s eyes widened, and she jerked as if struck, asking, “Are you saying, you’re saying…”

With a shrug, a fleeting malevolent look in her eyes, Su Yun said, “Exactly.

Knowing he can’t produce the tenfold wages, why would he stay around to face death?

He must have fled first to worry about the rest later.”

Whir!

Mei Xiaofang’s mind exploded with this realization, knowing that Sikong Jing had pledged his life if he couldn’t produce the tenfold wages.

This was no joke—the house servants might not dare to kill him, but Su Zhengtao and Su Yun certainly would.

“Su Yun, don’t talk nonsense—Sikong Jing has money,” Su Yuexi couldn’t help but burst forth, contradicting Su Yun with bloodshot eyes.

After speaking, she quickly looked towards Mei Xiaofang and explained, “Mother, Sikong Jing didn’t force his way out of the city to escape, but to help me retrieve the sold Jade hairpin.”

Mei Xiaofang looked blankly at her second daughter and asked back, “Is that so?

He actually forced his way out of the city?”

“Yes.” Su Yuexi nodded, and hurriedly explained the situation with the Hengyu Pawnshop.

“Hahaha…”

Just as her words fell, Su Yun couldn’t help but burst into loud laughter.

“You say he went out of the city overnight for your measly jade hairpin, isn’t he afraid of dying outside the city?”

“Isn’t he afraid of the punishment when he returns?”

Su Yun didn’t believe a single word of Su Yuexi’s explanation.

Biting her lip, Su Yuexi fixed her gaze on Su Yun and replied loudly, “It’s true.”

Remembering Sikong Jing’s expression and gaze the day before, Su Yuexi couldn’t help but feel angry and resentful for Su Yun’s disbelief in Sikong Jing’s character.

“Su Yuexi, you’re really naive.”

“Your criminal husband simply used it as an excuse to escape the city—he just wanted to get rid of you, the ugly freak.”

“Did you really think that with your ugliness, he would be sincere with you?”

Su Yun’s continuous scornful laughter seemed as though she was looking at a foolish woman deceived by a bad man.

These words suddenly caused a sharp pain in Su Yuexi’s heart, and she immediately panicked.

Being a frightful ugly monster, how could anyone ever treat her sincerely?

“Yuexi, that criminal is nothing but an ungrateful wolf—he will never come back!” Just as Su Yuexi’s mind began to waver, Mei Xiaofang’s voice came from behind her, “He has escaped the city, and it’s impossible for him to return.”

“Everything was a lie, marrying you was a lie, being willing to accept you was a lie, even the tenfold wages were a lie.”

“He’s a criminal through and through, how could he possibly risk his life for a jade hairpin by leaving the city?”

As Mei Xiaofang’s voice grew increasingly piercing, Su Yuexi’s mind thundered, and tears began to flow uncontrollably from her eyes.

Was she still that unwanted ugly monster?

“Congratulations, great-aunt, you’ve gotten rid of that criminal.”

“But whether he’s escaped or not, he’s still the son-in-law you acknowledged, and the tenfold wages must be returned to Aunt Li and the others.”

Su Yun’s sharp and heartless voice brought the despairing mother and daughter back to reality.

Following that, Aunt Li and her group sneered, “Mei Xiaofang, return the money!”

All the house servants stepped forward with ferocious expressions!

“We have no money, but we will find a way…”

Mei Xiaofang’s complexion paled as she quickly positioned herself protectively in front of Su Yuexi, who was on the brink of collapse.

A long, cold smirk spread across Su Yun’s lips as she commanded, “No money, is it?

Then…

you can start moving things out.”

As her words ended, Aunt Li and others let out screeching laughter and, without another word, rushed into the various rooms of the courtyard.

At the same time, the onlooking servants, eager to join in at Su Yun’s instigation, also surged forward into the fray.

“No, don’t steal, please!”

“Bastards, you beasts, Zhenglong is still inside resting; you’re not allowed to go in.”

Mei Xiaofang madly rushed to the door of Su Zhenglong’s room, fiercely guarding the entrance.

Now, just as Su Zhenglong had started to improve after taking Doctor Sun’s medicine, this chaos could end up killing someone.

“You can’t touch my father’s things.” Su Yuexi, setting aside her own pain, threw herself toward Su Zhenglong’s room.

“Haha, don’t care about her, rush in,” Su Yun let out a maniacal laugh.

Inside, her heart laughed even more wickedly, wondering if now Su Zhenglong wouldn’t be angered to death.

Suddenly, a ferocious wind swirled down, accompanied by a voice of towering rage, “What are you doing?”

The voice was filled with fury as a tall, fierce figure crashed to the ground—it was none other than Sikong Jing, who had just returned home.

He had come home filled with joy, intending to tell Su Yuexi that he had retrieved the Jade hairpin, but what he saw was a scene of utter chaos, which instantly ignited his killing intent.
