36: Chapter 036: Grandfather?

You’re not worthy!

However, Chou Ye was furious again and roared, “What have I gotten wrong?

I’ve brought back the heads of all two hundred members of the Fierce Beast Bandits, including the leader Fierce Beast himself, and Sikong Jing’s merits are indispensable.”

Damn it, if these people keep causing trouble, my great accomplishment will be called into question.

With their heads all accounted for, there was surely no mistake.

At that moment, Sikong Jing also stepped forward with Su Yuexi, speaking with an indifferent smile, “Su Xuefeng, it must be disappointing for you, but shouldn’t one of the charges you’ve wrongly imposed upon me be removed now?”

Su Xuefeng and Su Zhengtao gaped, their faces looking as unsightly as if they had eaten shit.

Yet at this time, Su Yun couldn’t help but shout, “Even if you didn’t forcefully break out of the city, you’ve still committed a grave crime.”

“Chief Han, he also robbed the Hengyu Pawnshop.”

Upon hearing Su Yun’s words, Su Yuexi’s previously relieved heart suddenly tightened, her palms sweating.

Meanwhile, the Shopkeeper of Hengyu Pawnshop stood up with his chest puffed out, speaking boldly, “That’s right, this criminal robbed me of a hundred Gold Crystal Coins and a Jade hairpin, he must be beheaded!”

The Hengyu Manager was extremely displeased not to see Sikong Jing punished.

A hundred Gold Crystal Coins?

Chou Ye thought his job was done and didn’t want to deal with Sikong Jing’s other crimes, but the mention of the hundred Gold Crystal Coins struck a nerve, as they were given to him by Luo Ning.

No one noticed Chou Ye while Chief Han found an opportunity to shout again, “Criminal, you have a criminal record and committed robbery, what should your punishment be?”

Slap!

Suddenly, Chief Han felt a severe pain on his face again as he was struck and fell to the ground.

Looking up, he saw it was Chou Ye again.

He bellowed furiously, “Chou Ye, have you become addicted to hitting me?

Do you believe I will start a war with you?”

Chou Ye scoffed without a care, then turned to Sikong Jing and asked, “If I’m not mistaken, the Jade hairpin originally belonged to Lady Luo, right?”

On hearing this, Sikong Jing was somewhat surprised.

But he soon understood, certain that Luo Ning must have said something to Chou Ye, and nodded in response, “Correct, with General Chou’s help, I successfully purchased the Jade hairpin that belonged to my wife.”

“As for the hundred Gold Crystal Coins from Hengyu Pawnshop, I did take them, but that was because he breached the contract first…”

He explained offhandedly while Chou Ye listened, feeling quite satisfied.

Of course, purchasing the Jade hairpin had nothing to do with him, but Sikong Jing readily said it was with his help.

This kid, he knows how to play along!

With that in mind, Chou Ye turned to the Hengyu Shopkeeper and barked, “The Shopkeeper of Hengyu Pawnshop, correct?

I personally witnessed Sikong Jing buying back the Jade hairpin from Lady Luo; do you dare to claim he robbed it from your pawnshop?”

Instantly, the Hengyu Shopkeeper panicked, as Chou Ye himself had witnessed the transaction.

“Will you tell the truth?” Chou Ye motioned to the soldiers, moving towards the Shopkeeper.

Thud…

The Hengyu Shopkeeper immediately knelt down, pleading with a tearful face, “General Chou, please have mercy, I was instigated by Patriarch Su.”

What the hell, Su Xuefeng, Su Zhengtao, and the others almost cursed out loud.

Chief Han’s face looked even more unsightly; the Hengyu Shopkeeper, he was actually fabricating stories.

And to think that the business with the Jade hairpin just happened to cross paths with Chou Ye.

Chou Ye’s face darkened as he pointed to Chief Han and continued, “Is it Sikong Jing who should be punished, or isn’t it this Shopkeeper here?”

Twisting the corner of his mouth, Chief Han was at a loss for words…

The Hengyu Shopkeeper breached the contract first and now even compounded his crime with false testimony; his punishment deserved to be increased!

“Su Xuefeng, can the charges against me be further reduced by a second count now?” Sikong Jing’s voice resounded timely.

As he spoke, he turned to Mei Xiaofang, “Mother-in-law, with General Chou’s word, you should also believe that I am not a great river thief, right?”

Mei Xiaofang’s expression froze, unsure whether to feel joy or what else?

And Su Yuexi finally revealed a smile for the first time, looking somewhat triumphantly at Mei Xiaofang as if to say, “Do you see?

Sikong Jing is a good person, I haven’t misplaced my trust.”

At that moment, Chou Ye turned to Su Xuefeng again and said, “Patriarch Su, although your family has family rules, it is also wrong to incite others.”

Su Xuefeng’s mouth twitched uncontrollably, his teeth nearly drawing blood, but he could only keep on nodding in agreement.

Even the Hengyu Manager had admitted guilt; how could he dare to say otherwise!

“Sikong Jing, the twenty Gold Crystal Coins are just a personal reward from me, and after the heads of the Fierce Beast bandits have been submitted, there might be additional rewards.

I shall take my leave now.”

After he had finished speaking, Chou Ye led his men and left the Su Family grounds.

Chief Han glared hatefully at Sikong Jing, the criminal who had caused him to be beaten by Chou Ye time and again.

But there was nothing he could do; he could only take the Hengyu Manager away as well.

In Su Yuexi’s courtyard, only members of the Su Family remained.

Suddenly, Su Zhengtao roared, “Sikong Jing should still be put to death for maiming a house servant.”

Now that the two previous charges had been dropped, this was the only accusation Su Zhengtao had left to use.

“Is that so?”

It was Su Zhenglong who replied to Su Zhengtao with a cold voice, at the same time releasing his True Qi from the Human Realm that soared to the heavens.

If before he was moved to act because he couldn’t bear his daughter Su Yuexi’s pleas, now Su Zhenglong was wholeheartedly willing.

The fact proved that Sikong Jing was completely trustworthy, and his daughter was worth entrusting to him.

“Su Zhenglong, do you really want to fight to the death with me?” Su Xuefeng shouted angrily, blocking in front of Su Zhengtao.

As before, in the Su Family, the only person who could take on Su Zhenglong in a fight to the death was him alone.

As his words fell, Su Xuefeng’s presence also reached the Human Realm, pressing towards Su Zhenglong.

The aura of the father and son clashed wildly in the courtyard.

Suddenly, Su Zhenglong was the first to speak, “Father, your birthday feast is coming; let’s not make too big of a fuss.

Otherwise, if you don’t even have a single son by that time, your birthday feast wouldn’t be very enjoyable, right?”

Su Xuefeng had two sons, Su Zhenglong and Su Zhengtao.

The meaning of these words was clear; if pushed further, Su Zhenglong would die, but so would Su Zhengtao.

“Sure, sure, you are indeed my good son.”

“On the day of my birthday feast, I hope you can bring me satisfying gifts.”

Finally, Su Xuefeng compromised, choosing not to continue the hard fight, taking a deep breath and turning to Sikong Jing, “No matter what, you are still my grandson-in-law, you should be calling me ‘Grandfather’.”

These words carried an extremely cold intonation; Su Xuefeng was dissatisfied with Sikong Jing addressing him by name.

And even less satisfied with his calm and self-possessed demeanor.

Sikong Jing raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

He would naturally respect the Su Zhenglong couple as elders, but Su Xuefeng was far from deserving such treatment.

Seeing this, Su Yun immediately chided, “Aren’t you going to call him ‘Grandfather’?”

Sikong Jing laughed and spoke lazily, “You, are not worthy!”

Those three words made a surge of murderous intent flare in Su Xuefeng’s eyes.

But Sikong Jing took another firm step forward, oblivious to the other’s murderous intent, and said coldly, “He who insults others will always be insulted.

The household servant of today might just be a lesson for the likes of you.”

“Wanting a ‘Grandfather’ is simple; show me how you care for your descendants, and I might let bygones be bygones.”

“Otherwise, as long as I, Sikong Jing, am here, those who dare to bully my family will be shown no mercy.”
