Berserk God of War

24: Chapter 024 Su Zhenglong Critically Ill 24: Chapter 024 Su Zhenglong Critically Ill Indifferently tossing the corpse on the ground, Sikong Jing’s eyes were still as cold as ice.

It was one thing for Liu Neng and his wife not to lend money, and insulting his mother-in-law was not enough to warrant their deaths, but their fatal mistake was targeting Su Yue Xi; not to mention that to curry favor with Su Zhengtao, they wanted his father-in-law dead.

Hence, they had only one path left—death.

Returning home to the Su Residence, Sikong Jing just happened to see Mei Xiaofang sitting in the hall, lost in thought.

A wave of emotion surged in Sikong Jing’s heart.

Even if Mei Xiaofang’s unwillingness to die was for the sake of Su Yue Xi, he still deeply remembered this favor.

“Mother-in-law…” Sikong Jing took steps forward.

Startled awake by him, Mei Xiaofang instantly glared with her eyes wide open and said irritably, “Don’t bother me, if you can’t come up with the money tomorrow and have to kill yourself, I don’t want to be haunted by your calling in my nightmares.”

If it had been before, even if Sikong Jing did not take it to heart, such words would have still made him uncomfortable.

But what he had seen and heard outside the Liu Family Mansion had completely opened his eyes to his mother-in-law’s true nature, which was typically tough on the outside but soft on the heart, though Sikong Jing did not expose this.

It was precisely because he understood her character that he purposely avoided showing himself at the Liu Family Mansion.

“Mother-in-law, I just went out to make some money, and when I passed by the Liu Family Mansion, I heard that Liu Neng and his wife are dead,” Sikong Jing said casually with narrowed eyes.

Bang!

Mei Xiaofang stood up instinctively, asking in disbelief, “What did you say, Liu Neng and his wife are dead?

How did they die?”

She had just returned from the Liu Family Mansion herself, and Mrs.

Liu had been very much alive then.

“I heard that a Gold Crystal Coin was left in the yard; it looks like someone paid for their lives,” Sikong Jing casually replied.

Upon hearing this, Mei Xiaofang stood there, her complexion changing constantly.

Suddenly, a crazed laughter erupted, “Good riddance, it’s retribution, this is retribution indeed!”

As she laughed, tears began to flow.

Mei Xiaofang being oppressed by the Su Family’s people was one thing, but now even those outside who had once received help from Su Zhenglong were bullying her.

In the last couple of days, she had worn her lips out borrowing money, only to be met with indifference and mockery.

Life had become too bitter.

Suddenly, Mei Xiaofang shivered violently and stared at Sikong Jing, asking, “You didn’t kill them, did you?”

Sikong Jing paused, but without changing his expression, shook his head, “Why would I kill them?”

He would not admit it, firstly not wanting to expose Mei Xiaofang’s tough exterior and soft heart and cause her too much embarrassment, and secondly to avoid making her worry about potential vendettas or revenge.

“Right, it couldn’t be you, where would you get a Gold Crystal Coin from,” Mei Xiaofang nodded vigorously, thinking that she had been overthinking.

Sikong Jing, who was about to surprise his mother-in-law with 99 Gold Crystal Coins, suddenly stopped.

For a moment, he was at a loss, wondering whether he should bring them out or not.

“Cough cough cough…”

As Sikong Jing hesitated, a violent coughing fit suddenly echoed from Su Zhenglong’s room.

Mei Xiaofang’s face paled instantly as she rushed in like the wind, “Master, Yue Xi’s dad…

please don’t scare me.”

Sikong Jing was shaken and hurried into the room without delay.

At first glance, he saw Su Zhenglong collapsed halfway on the floor, with Mei Xiaofang struggling to hold him up, then Su Zhenglong’s coughing intensified…

and with a retch, a mouthful of fresh blood was spat out.

Sikong Jing quickly went over to help his mother-in-law lift him up.

At that moment, Su Zhenglong regained some consciousness, his face pale as paper, and said, “Xiaofang, I fear I’m not going to make it.”

Buzz!

Mei Xiaofang’s face turned deathly pale, and tears gushed out as she said, “It can’t be, it definitely can’t be.

I’m going to find you a doctor right now, you certainly won’t die.”

As she spoke, Mei Xiaofang shouted at Sikong Jing, “Take good care of your father-in-law.

If he dies, I will take your life.”

Threatening as she spoke, Mei Xiaofang ran out frantically in search of a doctor.

Sikong Jing quickly carried Su Zhenglong to the bed and hurriedly took his pulse…

Although Sikong Jing was not a doctor, he had once been a martial artist at the Transcendent Peak, and while he wasn’t adept at treating illnesses, his True Qi could heal injuries.

Su Zhenglong was not sick; he had been seriously injured by someone.

However, the pulse check made Sikong Jing’s expression turn exceptionally grim.

Su Zhenglong’s internal organs were all severely damaged, and the noble young master who had injured him years ago had left a stream of True Qi in his body, which was continuously wreaking havoc.

If his Dantian had not been intact and True Qi still present, Su Zhenglong would have died a long time ago.

To heal his wounds, it was necessary to expel the noble young master’s True Qi from his body and then gradually nurture his internal organs back to health.

In the past, this would have been an easy feat for Sikong Jing.

But the level of True Qi had reached that of the Earth Realm, and his current Bright Realm Sixth Layer was far from sufficient.

Even the powerful and fierce Emperor Beheading Technique was no use.

“Yue Xian, dad is useless.

Where are you?

Are you still alive?”

At this moment, Su Zhenglong fell into a half-dreaming, half-conscious state, uttering hoarse, senseless words.

Su Yue Immortal, the sister who was taken away by the noble young master in place of Su Yuexi, had been without news for ten years.

“Yue Xi, don’t blame yourself.”

“Dad has never blamed you, and dad also knows that you turned ugly because of the poison Yue Xian gave you.”

Su Zhenglong’s voice was trembling…

Sikong Jing’s body shook again.

It was indeed the Crimson Spider Poison that Su Yue Immortal had used to prevent her younger sister from being taken away.

But how could Su Yue Immortal, so young at the time, have had such poison?

Regrettably, at this time, Su Zhenglong had completely lost consciousness and said nothing more.

Sikong Jing took a deep breath and used his experience to perform various life-saving measures on Su Zhenglong, until Mei Xiaofang finally managed to bring a doctor over, and only then did he stop.

The doctor was a white-haired elderly man who quickly took Su Zhenglong’s pulse and after a long time responded, “Lady Su, considering Master Su’s current condition, we must administer strong medicine.”

“Doctor Sun, then administer it!” Mei Xiaofang said without hesitation.

However, Doctor Sun’s complexion turned slightly awkward as he said, “I have the medicine, but I have heard a bit about the situation of your family.

This prescription will cost at least three Gold Crystal Coins.

I wonder if Lady Su could pay me some in advance?”

With her mouth agape, Mei Xiaofang’s face turned unsightly; where would she find three Gold Crystal Coins?

Suddenly, biting her silver teeth, Mei Xiaofang said, “Doctor Sun, please start preparing the medicine right away.

I’m going to beg our old patriarch now.”

There was no other option.

Su Xuefeng couldn’t possibly stand by and watch his eldest son die, could he?

Of course, it would likely come at a heavy cost.

“This…”

Doctor Sun’s face was filled with difficulty.

He had been treating Su Zhenglong’s illness all along and knew their family’s situation all too well.

Even if Mei Xiaofang begged, it was uncertain whether she would get the money.

Three Gold Crystal Coins were no small sum to Doctor Sun, and it was impossible not to take them.

At this moment, Sikong Jing certainly would not hesitate any longer and was about to take out the money…

But before he could act, the door to Su Zhenglong’s room was pushed open forcefully.

Su Yuexi burst in, saying, “I have the money.

Here are three Gold Crystal Coins, Doctor Sun.

Please, I beg you to save my father.”

After speaking, Su Yuexi quickly handed the three Gold Crystal Coins to Doctor Sun.
