Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 844: Chapter 640: The Emergence of the ’Pit of Ten Thousand

Hill’s sudden action did not attract the attention of An Pengfei and the others.

The Brown Sprites discovered a secret chamber somehow, and even the guards of the An Family, who had been so composed, let out screams of surprise. An Pengfei tensed up entirely, and a silver short gun flew out from behind him, transforming into a long polearm held in his hand.

The squad leader who had been following him closely ran up in panic, his face both angry and unable to conceal his fear: ”Eldest Young Master! The Lin Family has constructed a mass grave a thousand meters underground!”

An Pengfei was extremely shocked and, without even greeting Hill, shouted ’Go!’ and rushed forward with the man leading the way.

An Ran was stunned for a moment before solemnly approaching: ”Apologies, Great Mage Polanio. Lord Pengfei was too shocked, which is why he was so rude.”

Hill waved his hand: ”The urgent matter is more important. I won’t mind such trivialities.”

An Ran shook his head, and solemnly bowed in front of Hill.

Hill stood up surprised, fortunately, Fatty An truly wanted to thank him, merely performing a bow ritual of gratitude.

This was a common end-of-life savior custom among the Shulong People, and after considering, Hill accepted it and sat back down.

An Ran softly said: ”I am genuinely thankful to you and your Little Fairy friend for saving the lives of all the noble clans and citizens of Benevolence City.

The debt of saving one’s life will never be forgotten for all my lives.

The mass grave... is the most harmful demonic ritual to the power of the ancestors. If successful, the entire Benevolence City will be plunged into an undead disaster.”

Hill glanced at Fatty An.

This guy didn’t mention a crucial point: the harm supposedly to the ancestral power is actually making those ancestor spirits fall, transforming directly from Fairy Spirits into Evil Spirits.

Any noble clan that worships these ancestors, any family members near the Ancestral Garden would inevitably fall with them, or even directly become undead.

The clan members living in other places mostly won’t have any issues, but even if these people may establish new noble clans in the future, aside from retaining the same surname, they will have no other commonality with the current ones.

After all, it’s impossible for the ancestors to remain the same.

Hill observed An Ran’s somewhat sorrowful expression, smiled, and let the matter rest. Even though An Ran knew Hill was hiding something from him, he couldn’t speak the truth openly.

The fewer people know the Ancestral Garden’s weakness, the better.

Hill initially did not intend to see the Pit of Ten Thousand until those Brown Sprites came flying back in haste: ”Hill! It’s Bane’s power!”

He jumped up directly and, after putting the Brown Sprites back into his pocket, quickly walked towards that place.

Hill realized then that to create a Pit of Ten Thousand, it required continually added blood from grievances and souls filled with resentment.

It wasn’t just any corpse that would be useful; they must have died horribly.

But considering how the Shulong People traditionally control the citizens, if there were really so many missing citizens near Benevolence City, the government wouldn’t fail to notice.

These must have come from outside.

If it were during the battles between the Shulong People and Earth Dragons a hundred years ago, or even fifty years ago when there were small-scale wars between the two nations, such bodies would have been easier to find. The number of deaths from both sides was indeed innumerable.

But the Lin Family has only been in Benevolence City for decades!

Hill walked silently up to the room usually used by Lin Yi, which was a typical three-room suite. The middle was a guest room, the left was a bedroom, and the right was a small study.

The mechanism found by the Brown Sprites was beside the bed in the bedroom, where a depiction of the Merciful Guanyin rotated aside to reveal a dark hole and a staircase leading down.

Hill frowned slightly, applied various buffs to himself, and then proceeded down.

His followers quickly stood on either side, squeezing out the two An Family guards responsible for watching.

An Ran swiftly pulled the two guards, who were about to get angry, to stand by the door: ”Just keep watch here. We can trust that one, but he may not necessarily trust us.

It is good enough if the Great Witch helps us; don’t complicate the matter.”

He worriedly glanced a few times and then asked, ”Did you notify the Family Head?”

One guard answered him: ”Eldest Young Master sent An Xu and An Feng back.”

”What? Why did he send An Xu?” An Ran glared at them, ”Didn’t An Minyi stop Lord Pengfei?”

”Even if An Xu followed Third Young Master, he won’t mess around at a time like this, right?” the guard whispered, ”This concerns not just Eldest Young Master, but the entire An Family, and even other clans need to be informed. There won’t be any problem.

The purification of the Pit of Ten Thousand is not something we can solve with our family’s sorcerers.”

”You don’t understand at all!” An Ran displayed a cold expression, ”Lord Pengfei, truly spent too much time in the military camp, isn’t this already discovered?”

Anyway, it won’t cause a catastrophe anymore, using the Pit of Ten Thousand to kill him would be the best solution for that person.

Luckily, Great Mage Polanio pays attention to the Grim Reaper of Ferun Great Land... However, I remember the report saying he’s skilled in Water Element, Wind Magic, and also the Light Series.

I wonder if he can handle the secret spells from the Wo Empire! He took so many Little Fairies down there, what if they get sealed away?”

An Ran paced a few steps, suddenly looking at the two people: ”Forget it, you guys here are not as useful as Great Mage Polanio’s followers, better go back and inform once more!

Anyway, I’m guarding here, if something happens, I’ll directly send a distress flare, you go quickly!

Whether the Family Head knows or not, you will report everything here in detail once more!”

The two guards exchanged glances but An Ran’s attitude was tough, so they could only obey, disappearing swiftly at the door.

Before they left, An Ran had been maintaining a tense expression, then he let out a stream of curses.

After venting his anger for a while, he seriously looked at Hill’s follower and said: ”Pengfei’s safety is in your hands, Great Mage Polanio, these Knights are your Puppets, right? You surely can hear.

I must go back to the Family Head, An Minyi... might betray, please take notice.”

Fatty An patted himself a few times, his chubby body moved flexibly and a strange winged Strange Object appeared behind him, then he tore a piece of paper, disappearing into the air as if melding into the surroundings.

Only a gust of wind blowing by could indicate that he had shot up into the sky.

Hill, already three hundred meters deep underground, couldn’t help but stop: this fatty was indeed a Mechanism Master.

No wonder he could discern the true identities of Hill’s Puppets so well, the concealment was pretty deep.

Hill... Hill had already become accustomed to his misjudgments of people; anyway, there’s nothing to fear, he could always upend the table, it’s not like he couldn’t.

Looking down at the few hundred meters of stairs left, Hill wondered how Lin Yi usually went down; even if he were a Ninja, it’s not necessary to exercise his legs this way every time, right?

Hill was a bit fed up with walking, the stairs beneath his feet quickly transformed, like waves sending him downward.

The Little Fairies were instantly delighted, chattering noisily asking Hill to create such endless stairs in their small amusement park as well.

Hill thought they were too optimistic, laughing lightly he asked: ”This requires Mana, who among you is willing to be the one exerting effort while others play?”

The Little Fairies immediately fell silent.

They had no concept of taking turns, no Little Fairy would be willing to endure working while others had fun.

”Be honest! It must stink down there.” Hill gently said as they reached the bottom of the stairs, ”If you fall into the undead pool, I can’t save you!”

”Hurry! Use the thread in your hands and sew shut all the pockets!” Vila commanded loudly, ”If you don’t want to become slaves of the Court of Sorrow and Rage, get moving!”

The Little Fairies all hurriedly got to work, Vila was the same, and she and Oberon, having stayed in Hill’s hood, seriously started weaving spider webs in its upper part.

Hill smiled as he halted the stairs, as it was the final small segment.

Only after casting an air purification spell on himself did Hill calmly walk out of the stairwell.

At that moment, An Pengfei was leading a group fighting against the ghosts formed by the Pit of Ten Thousand.

Hill soon understood why the Brown Sprites were shouting ’Bane,’ those undead... should be from Ferun Great Land, the black markings on their faces were Bane’s insignias.

Yet there was more... those were Sel’s Red-robed favorite undead ’The Chosen Ones,’ horrendously ugly undead modified creatures, fiercely clawing at the invaders.

In this flash of lightning, Hill suddenly thought of a Mage.

The Red-robed Wizard didn’t use spells but ran himself, it wasn’t necessarily to save money; he might be leading undead through underwater.

That Red Robe withdrew so easily, more likely to avoid letting Hill discover what he was doing.

Hill’s natural aura was so strong, he would have certainly noticed if passing over the ocean surface where the undead were located.

Wo Empire’s people cannot turn these brutally murdered individuals into controlled undead, but Bane’s Santarin could, while transporting them for Sel Wizards accustomed to employing undead as labor and transporters is a cinch.

Sel’s Red Robes, always doing anything for money, but Bane intervening only signals one thing.

Bane must have established his own place of worship in the Wo Empire. No wonder, even when his most powerful place of worship, Santir Fortress, turned into ruins on Ferun Great Land, he still could maintain his strong Divine Power.

Hill glanced at the battle upfront, quickly realizing An Ran’s judgments were spot on.

The captain who once disdainfully regarded Hill’s aloofness looked earnestly like he was protecting the frantically fighting An Pengfei, yet there were countless petty mistakes.

To be infighting at such a moment, Hill couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.
