Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 829: Chapter 625: Finding Opportunities on the Stalemate Battlefield

Hill carefully calculated the angle; the Female Priest was skillfully hiding, never leaving any gaps in every direction.

It seemed like they were constantly moving, but in reality, the Giant Bull Demon had rarely made direct contact with the Undead Tribe, only occasionally swinging the giant club at Knights charging too close.

However, they overly trusted the son of the fleeing Grazt and didn’t think Hill would have ample time to locate the Demon Priest.

Did they really think that Lord Wu’an’s son would obediently listen to someone he considered expendable? He simply didn’t want to anger Grazt after being watched by High Priest’s eyes, but if he didn’t want to stay at Hell’s Gate anymore, he wouldn’t care if that Priest would complain.

Grazt appeared to be quite indulgent with these children, even when they killed countless siblings during their fights; he could still portray a father-like demeanor.

The Demon’s understanding of fatherly love is always surprising, and Lord Wu’an truly believed his love for his children was genuine, taking pride in their attempts to overthrow him. Of course, he wouldn’t let them succeed; he had no intention of giving up his throne and would share stories about these hopeful children with other Demon Lords, Evil Gods, or Sorcerer Wizards from the Outer Realm when they met.

When he spoke, he genuinely felt proud, but unfortunately, the children who learned about this from other sources couldn’t share the same feelings.

But if they failed just from that, the result would likely be dying at the hands of some relentless siblings, so they could only continue to join this bloody internal struggle.

Comparatively, for Grazt’s children, sneaking off the battlefield like this was just a minor issue, not a battlefield desertion or betrayal; there was no way he’d be punished. Moreover, even if the Demon Army perished here, as long as he returned to the Abyss with enough achievements to satisfy Grazt, he could receive significant rewards.

As for the dead subordinates, what were they?

Why did cannon fodder always demand human rights? Demon Lords never understood how there could be such foolish fellows.

Hill held the oil painting, patiently waiting for an opportunity. When the Giant Bull Demon swung that club with full force, a gap would appear. Because of his huge size, neither he nor the Female Priest noticed that flaw.

Neither non-Legendary humans, elves, nor even demons themselves ever thought of fighting in the air.

That habit had formed over years because, whether from the demon’s aerial bombardments or the elves’ rain of arrows, both inflicted great harm on flying combatants.

If it were a Magic Ship, or even the so-called space-station aerial combat craft from the elves, they wouldn’t be as flexible; the aiming time was too long, and the energy-charging fluctuations too obvious, making them ineffective for sneak attacks.

But Purwell was different; as fundamental capability, the Otherworldly Whale could hide its existence. If he hadn’t blindly trusted humans, he wouldn’t have been caught in the first place.

When this whale used its talent to hide within the white clouds, only Hill’s spell could expose his position.

Hill didn’t try notifying the Undead Tribe to create trouble for the massive Minotaur Demon and create attack opportunities for himself.

Existences like Demon Lords, when discussing methods against them at such close range, could sense danger even if they couldn’t hear what was being said.

To some extent, Demon Priests have a sense of danger comparable to their masters, which is one reason they dare to stir up trouble in big cities. They possess absolute confidence in escaping when detected by Kind Alignment’s temples.

Most of the caught Demon Priests were low-level small players, having just gained demonic power and not developed acute senses yet.

Hill chose to wait patiently, knowing... Such a huge Minotaur, if the Undead Tribe gained an advantage on the battlefield, they would definitely notice him, especially considering the massive boss’s size always won their favor.

Especially some mages and archers who could never aim accurately.

After mingling with the Undead Tribe, Hill understood why most people favored Warrior and Knight professions; technical professions truly required some skill and accuracy.

Some mages... Like a certain mage with the surname Xue, was nailed to the pillar of shame because of eternally choosing technical professions, but his ability only warranted holding a shield and standing still, without even charging with a sword like other warriors without veering in the wrong direction.

There were no words for how bad his mage skills were; even his enemies didn’t bother to insult his profession.

Even priests who chose the healing path dared to face him one-on-one. Luckily, Hill knew the Undead Tribe could not be considered real mages; otherwise, hearing about him being stomped by the ’Old Age Striking King’ and smashed with a hammer would surely betray his expression.

Though most weren’t as bad, some slightly self-aware remote profession individuals from the Undead Tribe favored the Giant Bull Demon for an attack target.

As long as the Undead Tribe held their ground, the massive rampaging figure on the battlefield would be their primary target.

Hill believed their opportunity would come soon.

In a certain sense, at Hell’s Gate, one can truly see how powerful the Elf Empire once was. No matter how much combat power both sides invest, this seemingly small open space easily accommodates everyone and the demons.

This place was once the site of the empire’s Royal Palace, and Hell’s Gate was the big trouble that the ruler of that time created.

Indeed, it was once a great empire with billions of elves, which is why there were legends about all the citizens gathering to celebrate the birthday of a certain Elven Emperor. Hill thought it was just an exaggeration! Was it really a statement of fact?

Sometimes, elves are indeed quite fascinating. When those emperors had power comparable to deities, they not only made friends with gods but also tried to get the citizens to believe more in the royal family and to merely maintain respect for the Elf Deity System.

Lucky for them, their leader, Coron, was an existence indifferent to faith; otherwise, they wouldn’t have needed the Crown War to ruin several empires altogether.

The elves who cooperated with Lansendel back then also hoped to become part of the Sun God Sect rather than only achieving eternal life in the Elf Deity System in the form of essence.

Some even planned to ascend with the entire nation following Lansendel. Hill felt the most terrifying part was this: Lansendel had the audacity to agree to such a demand, but the Elven Emperors and Great Nobility who put forth the demand were not entirely sane either.

At that time, Lansendel actually thought that if the Goddess of Luck and the Goddess of Misfortune could merge into one to become the Goddess of Fate again, with the strong power of destiny she was born with, perhaps she could fulfill the elves’ wish.

He really came within a hair’s breadth of succeeding.

But in reality, the Goddess of Fate is an existence that the World Will of Toril absolutely does not allow, and the Elven Empire, which took part in this affair, could only be wiped off the face of the earth by the Tablets of Fate.

And the once powerful Dawn Divine System was left with only Lansendel, a solitary commander. The tearful Lord of Dawn expended significant effort to retrieve his soul back from the divine, and he is still slumbering in his Divine Kingdom.

Without sufficient power, it’s difficult to awaken them. Hill suspects this is why Lansendel ultimately picked up the sun as a divinity; he simply wanted to obtain some sun-related divinity before.

But only the mighty power of the sun could awaken those of his subordinates who sleep in the darkness. It’s just that after that, Lansendel’s actions became somewhat suffocating.

To be honest, with all the absurd events Lansendel later orchestrated, Hill suspected it was the continuous curse of the Goddess of Luck and the daily blessings of the Goddess of Misfortune that caused it.

They never intended to merge back together, and the power of the Goddess of Fate, Tai Ji, was incredibly strong. Upon resurrection, her first move would likely be to erase the consciousness of the Goddess of Luck and the Goddess of Misfortune.

For these two goddesses, this is akin to murder.

If not for Lansendel possessing a bit of blessing power, which could counteract many curses, Hill doubted if those temples could even be erected, or if they would suffer earthquakes and floods immediately after being built.

Hill abruptly pulled back his wandering mind. Suddenly, over a million Undead Knights emerged, catching the Demon Army off guard. The battlefield situation was stabilized, with the Undead Tribe clearing enough ground for their magical-based professions to enter.

Even the Righteous Knights and other Temple Armies were persuaded off the battlefield.

Hill, holding an oil painting, stared intently at the demon priest below; he would never let this mad woman escape.

The demon priest’s initial level wasn’t high, but advancing levels wasn’t difficult, yet very few could achieve it, so most demon priests were only around level 11 or 12.

Because below level 10, they could still please the Demon Lord with simple murders, but above that, they must conduct blood sacrifices.

To advance to level 11 requires a blood sacrifice of 120 human lives in an evil ritual, and each subsequent level requires doubling that number.

And the Deep Dark Art is an Eighth Ring Dark Divine Art, which requires at least a level 17 demon priest.

Hill couldn’t even fathom how many lives she had cruelly taken under her command.

Blood sacrifice is not merely slaughter; the fundamental requirement is that every human sent to the altar must die in endless fear and pain.

Most importantly, she must offer up her kind.

Hill stared fixedly at that beautiful human face, the killing intent in his heart gradually boiling.

Indeed, after the positioning was completed and the mages received the fire command, countless magic arrows rained down on the Giant Bull Demon: the priest likely wanted to observe the enemy’s composition, and they stood in the middle of the battlefield.
