Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 823: Chapter 619: The Strengths of Alessio

Alessio glanced at the door for a while, confirming that Lis would not return shortly, and then gently asked Hill, ”Did General Gael really go to Mulan with the Prince?”

Hill nodded somewhat surprisedly; he didn’t think the priests of Coron would not discuss this matter.

Alessio sighed, ”Just don’t bring this up with Lis.

She’s always been dissatisfied with the Moonflower Royalty. When we were driven out, she tried to persuade the Queen to simply let the Elven Royal Fleet eliminate those Great Nobility directly.

But that Queen... how should I put it?

Although those Great Nobility are annoying, she’s not necessarily trusting of the Royal Fleet either.

Who knows if Eternity Island will still belong to the Moon Elves in the end?

That Queen turned around and leaked Lis’s words; otherwise, our family wouldn’t have ended up so embarrassed. At least we would have had a decent ship. The Gael family had already started preparing a magic ship for us, but we didn’t expect such a sudden occurrence.

On the surface, it seems like the Queen compromised with the Great Nobility to protect her last child by betraying the Gael family, but later on, we understood some things... Although Lis was a bit naive to genuinely regard that Queen as a trustworthy friend, her actions are understandable.

It’s just that the friend she thought she had didn’t trust her that much in return.

Hill, although General Gael has no ambitions and is friendly towards that Queen, the Gael family and some other Sun Elf Great Nobility are not so kind.

The Sun Elves have never been a race willing to live under others.

Probably because of the connection with Coron in your place, the always proud Sun Elves are behaving so obediently, but don’t trust them too much.

Once they regain a high position, their attitude can change very quickly.

A lot of the messy Elven Bloodlines on the continent today result from dirty deeds by those Sun Elf Great Nobility seeking power and profit.”

Hill nodded with a smile. He was not unaware of the situation with Demon-born Elves: the Sun Elf Noble families are ruthless enough to strengthen their bloodline by having half-breed offspring with a Succubus.

He also gained some understanding of past events; although General Gael was indeed the strongest elf of the Gael family, with enough authority over the family, the chaotic system and long life span of elves made even someone like General Gael unable to prevent backstabbing descendants.

Just like Lynn’s uncles, although they care about Lynn and his sister, they evidently care more about their ships and subordinates.

Lis, although the most cherished girl in the family, was also the one abandoned most thoroughly, so even knowing that General Gael had arrived on the continent, Lynn’s mother acted as if she knew nothing.

And then there’s the Moonflower family, trading genuine feelings for insincerity; anyone would find it hard to bear. In this case, Lynn’s determined attitude is understandable.

Moreover, although he seems to accommodate the Royal Fleet, he hasn’t actually allowed them into Agleya City. Hill originally thought Lynn did this to appear fair, but it seems he doesn’t really trust his relatives from his mother’s side.

Hill also didn’t feel there was any problem, but now he understands better why Mulan was chosen as the first stop for elves returning to the continent. Since the Royal Fleet is not harmonious with the Moonflower Royalty, their target should be the Moonshadow Archipelago.

It makes sense, as the Demon-born Elves on the Moonshadow Archipelago had a major grudge against the original Elven Empire of Gael and others, but in the short term, they probably won’t make a move. Elves have always preferred overwhelming battles, and while ambushes are fine if successful, facing stalemate battlefields is something they must avoid.

It’s just that Hill had thought too little in recent times. Although he tried to understand those complex relational emotions, sometimes he was too straightforward and easily trusted what was in the intelligence reports.

Hill silently sighed.

Alessio’s main point was also not to bring it up in front of Lis, indicating that the psychological damage this lady suffered back then was indeed severe.

However, Hill finally understood why Lynn was very warm towards his several cousins but had a divided attitude towards his uncles, sometimes very friendly and sometimes indifferent—turns out not all uncles had a good relationship with him!

Fortunately, if Hill couldn’t understand something, he would absolutely not get involved.

However, he remembered that those six cousins were actually the children of Lis’s youngest pair of twin brothers, so perhaps because they grew up together, their father had a deeper emotional connection with Lis and cared more about Lynn.

The elders with whom Lynn corresponded regularly were likely not General Gael but those two younger uncles.

The relationships among elves are too chaotic, and even within families, there are so many distinctions, making Hill feel a headache and completely at a loss.

But it seems that they themselves feel nothing of it; in the hearts of the elves, affection has never been related to family bloodlines, only whether individuals are congenial.

”Did General Gael meet Lynn in Agleya? Lynn... should still care a lot about his grandmother. As for others, he hasn’t been disrespectful, has he?” Alessio continued to ask.

Having understood a bit about the internal entanglements of the Gar Family, Hill replied succinctly: ”Although there’s some distinction between gratitude and grudges, at most he’s a bit cold to certain elves, not to the extent of being impolite.

And in Agleya City, Lynn can do as he pleases.”

Alessio laughed: ”Lynn’s friends do resemble him in personality.”

Hill also laughed: ”That is my honor. Lynn is a friend I truly cherish.”

Alessio glanced at the dishes on the table; Hill’s eating movements, though elegant, were quite quick. As they chatted and laughed, the salad and fish had been consumed a lot. It’s normal for elves to love fruits, but silverfish... Many elves love to eat them but are embarrassed to eat a lot, as in the eyes of elves, it’s children’s food. Most elves claim to prefer whitefish, whose meat is a bit chewier.

However, Alessio looked at Hill. Although this child’s strength is strong, his age is clearly not very old. No wonder he gets along so well with Lynn; his family’s child has always had a youthful spirit. Perhaps due to his good relationship with Miliel, he has a spirited manner, unlike most elves who enjoy pleasure.

He stood up: ”I see you really like eating silverfish. Would you like some fish fry?”

Hill, surprised, followed him to the right side of the stone house. After turning a corner and bypassing a rock wall, Hill saw an orchard composed of hundreds of different fruit trees. Inside was a winding, uneven stream, and in the water, only 2 meters deep, many silverfish of various sizes were swimming.

”Silverfish are not only delicious but also have a slight soothing effect on spiritual power, and they can even help young elves grow,” Alessio said indifferently. ”And if they are those newly born ones under 100 days, they basically melt in your mouth. Even infants just born can eat them.

Lynn’s brother, Leonard, when born, did have a very strong spiritual power, but when Lis had him, she had been wandering on the continent for a long time, and her body wasn’t in the best shape. Leonard really picked the least opportune time to come into this world.

After arriving in the Supreme Forest, we thought of many ways to nurture his body. The milk berries weren’t enough nutrition; Leon cried every day at the top of his lungs.

If adults feel uncomfortable with spiritual power fluctuations, how much more so for a child!

We had no choice but to catch silverfish. Fortunately, although these fish are quite hard to catch, it’s nothing for Lis.

Yet these fish are extremely precious to all creatures in the Supreme Forest, and that time was the most chaotic for the Supreme Forest. Due to rampant demonic aura, many newborns were unwell, and there were always parents at the Great Waterfall frantically catching fish for their children.

Lis was great at catching fish, but we couldn’t incite public anger by catching them all.

I had no choice but to find a way to raise them myself; luckily, I was fortunate, and we don’t need to fight anyone for them anymore. Although they aren’t as good as those by the Great Waterfall, eating a few more would suffice.”

Though he spoke so blandly, Hill knew that even in that world with numerous scientific methods, cultivating a fish species with such strict survival conditions into one suited for farming required a huge price, not to mention relying only on experience and inspiration in a fantasy world.

This low-key Half-Elf scholar, a part-time Coron Priest, his prowess is definitely not inferior to his wife’s, otherwise, he couldn’t possibly manipulate that faint life force of the fragile silverfish with such precision.

Hill admired him and said, ”Mr. Alessio, you are remarkable! You truly are a great father.”

Though Hill can also accomplish similar things, he does so using the simple and violent Force of Nature, directly magnifying an animal’s life force infinitely. Silverfish he raises might taste better, but as Alessio said, about them melting in one’s mouth within a hundred days, that’s actually a weakness of their fragile phase, inevitably optimized away.

Alessio’s method is scientific research, selecting needs according to his will, while Hill’s is a cheat amplifier with only a single enhancement.

Alessio laughed, regarding Hill with a very gentle gaze.

Many elves, although they come to exchange silverfish with him, do not perceive meaning in what he is doing and even think he’s wasting time; why not just wait until Leon grows a bit older?

With an elf’s physique, spending a little time in the Supreme Forest will suffice against that agony, so why bother and even miss the opportunity to enter Coron’s Sacred Land?

But why should his child suffer so much?

Lis unconditionally supports whatever he does, yet she doesn’t quite understand either.

Hill is the first to sincerely believe that he is rightly doing this out of love for his child.
