Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 840: Chapter 636 Collapse of the Treasure Pavilion

Hill overlooked one thing: although this group of young scions was audacious, they were actually accompanied by followers, especially coachmen and bodyguards, who couldn’t all be with them at once.

In other words, except for that scion from the Bai Family, the others still didn’t want to offend the An Family.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t be the only one spouting nonsense, while the others just chimed in a bit. It’s fine for the young scions to band together to flatter the Bai Family’s young master, but if any real trouble arises, and if the An Family targets their families, no one believes the Bai Family would rescue them.

It’s just that these little followers chose the wrong side.

Alternatively, the Shulong People’s excessive exclusion of outsiders left these guys completely ignorant of what an Archmage was.

So, when the Tortoise Shell shattered, Hill didn’t meet the mastermind but rather these guys’ parents and several Sorcerers summoned to rescue them.

Sensing the rapidly approaching figures, Hill knew that finding the mastermind wouldn’t be easy.

He needed to find that ’Lin Yi’. This guy had surprisingly good intelligence and directly led the Bai Family young master, who harbored ill intentions towards the An Family, to Hill as soon as he left the house.

Hill had only arrived in Benevolence City yesterday afternoon, and Prophecy Technique was ineffective against him.

It was clear that there was a leak of information from within the An Family.

Hill frowned slightly: there was no need to hold back. After all, the An Family wouldn’t dare blame him. Having just completed a transaction only to encounter such an issue, Hill could fully turn hostile, assuming they intended to double-cross him.

No... that’s not quite right; he wasn’t that ”black.”

While contemplating a more accurate adjective, Hill intensified the snowstorm’s power before the group arrived.

As expected, that Bai idiot had a backup plan.

The white jade flute around his neck suddenly lit up and emitted a ’woooo’ sound, blocking countless ice arrows from Hill.

And then, a Bone Arrow shot straight out of the flute towards Hill, even triggering the Defensive Magic on Hill’s body.

Hill was a bit intrigued and wielded the Crystal Fan, sending a longsword to break all defenses, accompanied by fierce Thunder.

Then he turned around and left with his followers, leaving behind a group riddled with ice arrow wounds and a Bai young master reduced to ash by thunderfire.

As Hill departed the Treasure Pavilion, he looked back a few times and tapped the building.

The seven-story pagoda-like Treasure Pavilion collapsed instantly.

Hill chuckled. It seemed he hadn’t lost his professional touch yet; the collapse perfectly calculated, leaving the neighboring buildings untouched.

It even kind of looked like a tomb.

It was actually quite fitting, considering it would serve as a good ending if the parents glaring angrily at him didn’t dig it up.

The Shulong People, who arrived a step too late, could only stand on the rooftop, glaring at Hill, who looked impatient.

They could all see that this Archmage from Ferun not only felt he had done nothing wrong but even seemed eager to eradicate them all.

Unless they could enlist support from the military... but the army here in Haidong, whether navy or Charging Knights, paid little heed to the Prefectural Mansion’s faction.

Without an edict from His Majesty the Emperor, Prefect Bai couldn’t command them, let alone lay hands on an Archmage who had done nothing wrong.

And the main issue now was...they all knew the might of the Witch Priest’s Artifact on that Bai Family princeling. Even if they were furious, if they couldn’t win, they couldn’t win.

Moreover, the scions playing with Bai Family’s young master weren’t the most cherished ones from their families. Such children were sent to study literature and martial arts long ago and wouldn’t have time to play with that fool.

These ones were essentially abandoned by their families.

Primarily, no one wanted to die.

An Ran looked at the opposing sides and Hill, who was expressionless and didn’t want to speak with these people, and stepped forward to clarify the matter’s cause and effect.

His eyes didn’t focus on the parents exclaiming, ’the children were just a bit young, not deserving of death; this is excessive! How dare a foreign Archmage be so arrogant,’ but rather on the Sorcerers summoned to save them: ”I won’t mention this Archmage’s identity. At the very least, if he formally gets involved, the Emperor must receive him.

But there is one thing I’d like the Sorcerers to understand: the actions of these young masters are akin to requesting a Great Witch to accompany them for entertainment.

If you think this is forgivable...”

Before he finished, the Sorcerers turned and left, wholly indifferent to the calls from the dignitaries who had worshiped them for ages.

The supreme status of the Three Great Sorcerers could not be jeopardized by such fools.

Even Great Witch Bai himself would only personally eliminate such a foolish descendant.

Archmages from Ferun Great Land were, though considered inferior to Sorcerers by the Shulong side in words, had proved similar to the commoners. In a real fight, even at the same level, it wouldn’t be easy for Sorcerers to win.

The major noble clans and high-level officials actually understood this and had solemnly warned them not to offend Archmages from the Ferun Great Land. Any Archmage daring to traverse continents carried hidden powers, at the very least sufficient to escape back to Ferun.

At that point, it would be the Navy Fleet of the Shulong Empire facing the consequences!

The sorcerers left with darkened faces; they had to report this matter back to the Imperial Capital. The Three Great Sorcerers were renowned not because of their own merits but because they served the Emperor of the Empire, showcasing royal power. As long as the noble clans didn’t want to rebel, they would give the royal family some face.

But that didn’t mean they lacked their own great witches.

Noble clans weren’t just naïve good people; those without trump cards had long become dust in history.

With the strength of these sorcerers, they originally didn’t need to give face to the people that Witch Bai brought with him, but when handling affairs in Haidong, they slightly leaned towards Prefect Bai out of respect for Witch Bai.

Unexpectedly, they had nurtured Bai Family’s arrogance to such an extent! Today, they dared to rely on Witch Bai’s influence to insult an Archmage. Tomorrow, would they dare to lay hands on sorcerers who didn’t obey them?

No matter why Bai Family did this, the royal family must deal with Witch Bai before the situation grew more serious.

Otherwise... the noble clans would definitely seize this opportunity to encroach on more royal power.

If Witch Bai were wise, he should completely remove the branch of Prefect Bai’s descendants before that happens; otherwise, it would be easy for the Three Great Sorcerers to replace them.

The Three Great Sorcerers of the Shulong Empire have never been stable professions.

Hill kept his gaze fixed on the middle-aged man dressed as an official. This guy looked very much like the fool he had killed, indicating his status was indeed not simple.

However, even though this big official also had the typical black long straight hair of the Shulong people, his blatant indulgence had left him almost bald at the front, with sparse hair on top.

While waiting for him to speak disrespectfully, Hill contemplated: Do the Shulong people not wear wigs? Do they have some tradition that requires only natural hair?

This is so ugly!

It immediately diminished his appreciation for the long black hair seen everywhere on the streets.

But completely to Hill’s surprise, the official stood there panting heavily for a while before turning to leave, with no intention of confronting Hill directly.

The people following him also left without hesitation, ignoring the bodies underneath the ruins.

Hill’s slightly raised hand hesitated before lowering: The Shulong people, what’s wrong with them?

Then he glanced to the left and behind, where a pretty powerful sorcerer had appeared. After noticing the direction of events, he retreated.

That should be the Great Witch of the An Family, right?

That kind of strength should be similar to Kelben’s, even considering the owner of the Tortoise Shell, it’s probably just like that.

Then where did Bai Family get the guts to deal with the An Family?

Who’s backing them?

The Emperor of the Shulong Empire shouldn’t be so desperate for money as to butcher a great family, right?

His expression was so indifferent that An Ran hesitated for a moment before approaching: ”Great Mage Polanio, I apologize for the An Family not hosting you properly...

But rest assured, Prefect Bai and his subordinates will no longer appear before you.”

Hill glanced at him coldly: ”I don’t care about your An Family’s internal struggles or your incompetence in allowing spies to run rampant; I only want the final result.

Don’t try to fool me with your deceptive games; no one in this world can lie to me or attempt to sidestep the truth!”

An Ran immediately bowed deeply, performing a solemn salute: ”Rest assured, the An Family will not deceive in this matter.

The family head has already ordered that even if it involves the legitimate line of the family head, they will be handed over to Mr. Polanio for disposal.”

”That’s the An Family’s business, I only want results,” Hill said mercilessly, ”Don’t hand those people over to me; I’m not interested in cleaning your house.

The An Family just made a transaction with me once. Our relationship is not that deep. Solve your family’s issues on your own!”

Hill took a step forward, and An Ran hesitated for a few minutes, pulling someone aside to quickly give some instructions before following with a smile: ”Mr. Polanio, what interests you about Benevolence City?

I’ve been here for over a hundred years, and there’s nothing I don’t know, nowhere I’m unfamiliar with!”

Hill glanced sideways at the chubby merchant, his expression vivid: Are you really boasting that much?

If An Ran really knew as much as he claimed, today’s incident would never have happened.

Unless An Ran himself was also one of the masterminds behind the scenes.

Understanding Hill’s implication, An Ran plastered a greasy smile on his face: ”Knowing a lot doesn’t mean understanding them!

I was just too honest, which is why I’ve been played so often by others’ schemes and intrigues.

Oh! I’ve been in business for so many years, and I’ve suffered losses all these years!”

Hill stopped in his tracks, feeling a bit nauseated.
