Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 828: Chapter 624: The Intense Reaction of Demon Lord Grazt

Hill suddenly got up, dressed in the clothes sent by List, and rushed to the terrace on Purwell’s back.

Below, the Hell’s Gate was emitting a nauseating black glow instead of the usual black smoke. High-level Great Demons were emerging in large numbers; it was no longer just a training ground for rookie blood battles.

This was gearing up for a full-scale war, rather than the previous indifference about losing countless cannon fodder.

What had triggered the demons?

Hill turned to look at the Star Mountain Range. He had a feeling that it was less about the demons knowing the Undead Tribe’s arrival and preparing to attack, and more about Corylon’s sudden arrival tonight.

The opposing Demon Lord, was he worried that the Father of Elves would soon return to the Supreme Forest, so he intended to send out his army to sweep through the entire forest again?

They would never give up such a favorable position like the Hell’s Gate. On the highest level of divine power, the Toril World was absolutely not inferior to the Bottomless Abyss. Getting a Demon below the lord level to freely enter Toril was truly a stroke of luck.

The Devils of Hell had been punished by the Lord of Hell for losing this Space Gate!

How could smuggling and free entry be the same? The Hell’s Gate was the glory of the Demon Lord after defeating Devils and Elves, and he certainly wouldn’t want Corylon to take it from him.

Hill furrowed his brow, watching the struggling Black Rose and Wenjian Clan below. Without hesitation, he used a series of Water Mist divine arts to give them a vitality and mana bar boost, then threw down a painting to add a buff to the Defensive Knights holding the front line.

Then he quickly commanded Purwell to flee the scene.

Sure enough, almost a second after he left, countless evil arrows of darkness shot skyward, trying to turn Hill into a target in the air.

Purwell couldn’t help but scream aloud, ”So scary! Is that a lord?”

Hill calmly replied, ”Relax, it’s not at that level yet, just close to a Lesser Lord, can’t catch up with you, don’t worry, just run.”

He looked at the demons chasing behind. The black skin and pointed ears resembled a Dark Elf, but the demon bat wings and raised serpent great sword behind proved his demon identity.

Hill tutted; the hand holding the great sword seemed to have six fingers.

That was the characteristic of Lord Wu’an Graz’zt; his countless offspring inherited this trait.

Although the skin was black, Hill could see it was a very beautiful face, likely his mother was a top-tier beautiful Dark Elf, fitting well with Graz’zt’s infamous promiscuous nature.

Hill stretched lazily, casually instructing Purwell, ”Keep dodging, if you feel you’re about to be caught, run outside the forest.”

Any child of Graz’zt sent here to Toril was definitely a loser in their horrifying internal strife.

In Toril, even if he’s the commander of the Demon Army, so what? Even Graz’zt himself barely made it back, right?

But that Abyssal Lord was always cruel; if he couldn’t complete Graz’zt’s task, this half-blood demon Dark Elf would have no choice but to join the blood war.

Hill pondered for a while and noticed something amiss. That guy was chasing closely, but he wasn’t desperate at all. He was just swirling around in the air with Purwell, even slowing down when Purwell turned, avoiding head-on collisions due to sheer luck with the unintelligent escaping fool Little Whale.

Lis also noticed something wrong. Floating beside Hill, he asked curiously, ”Among the Great Demons that come to Toril, isn’t his status and strength among the top?

What is he afraid of?”

Although Hill couldn’t figure it out either, he still instructed Purwell to circle in the sky on this side of Hell’s Gate, as fast as possible.

Ignoring the half-Purgatory Zhuer warrior playing a chase game with Purwell, Hill focused his attention on Hell’s Gate.

He suspected that a Priest of Graz’zt might have arrived as well.

The priest status of a Demon Lord among Abyssal Followers was extremely high. After all, they were not deities, having a priest was exceedingly rare, requiring them to transfer their power.

Even for a powerful demon like Graz’zt, he had only a few priests, and though their levels seemed low, in reality, these female priests wielded the power of Lord Wu’an. In the Bottomless Abyss, they held a higher status than Graz’zt’s children who hadn’t climbed high.

After Hill took away a major boss, the Undead Tribe seemed to stabilize a bit again.

But judging by the number of Great Demons still storming out of Hell’s Gate, without further support, it’s only a matter of time before the defensive castle falls.

The Righteous Knights had already joined the battle, and more and more were being desperately rescued back to the castle by the Undead Tribe while severely wounded. Hill could only cast a few Water Element Healing Divine Arts over the castle during his flight.

He quickly noticed that whenever he used Divine Arts, the half-Zuoer half-demon chasing him would become more aggressive, frantically tossing out Spell-like Abilities like the Arrow of Darkness.

Purwell also found dodging quite strenuous, so Hill told List to make sure to replenish Little Whale’s Energy Baryte, lest it runs out of power midway.

Hill continued to observe the commotion below; he didn’t think the sudden appearance of Coron was merely a festive gift for the Elf followers of the Star Mountain Range.

If it were really that simple, an old and cunning fellow like Grazt would not have reacted so intensely.

Sure enough, he wasn’t wrong: a Space Gate opened directly by the Riven River at the top-right corner of the Supreme Forest, with Naise Mountains across the river. This was originally the location of a very powerful Elf Empire, and they historically had frequent exchanges with Naish Country on the other side of the mountains, with many Dimensional Space Gates in existence. But when the Hell’s Gate appeared, the Elves closed them all.

This time, the Elves’ call to Coron on the Day of the Crescent directly allowed the Father of Elves to use their faith’s power to open a temporary Dimensional Gate.

No wonder Coron’s mood was so pleasant during the crescent festival just now; he probably didn’t expect things to go so smoothly.

Hill also didn’t expect that his momentary goodwill would be such a great help to Coron.

However, if Hill hadn’t stepped in, Grazt might not have reacted so strongly, in that case the Undead Tribe’s arrival might have been timely enough.

But, the scene might not have looked as thrilling as it does now.

The Undead Tribe rushed out from the Dimensional Gate like a flood of steel, directly charging towards the Hell’s Gate shrouded in black light. While leaping over the defense castle full of injured soldiers, some of the Priests kindly stayed behind to restore their bodies a bit.

The half-demon following behind Hill froze.

He looked at the seemingly endless Elves below being squeezed out, then turned his head to look at the Hell’s Gate, and suddenly plunged towards the Riven River.

”Is he trying to run away?” Purwell slowly appeared, asking with an unfriendly tone, ”Why isn’t Hill stopping him?”

”Grazt’s child, no matter how they die from infighting, it doesn’t matter. But if someone else kills them, that becomes his best excuse,” Hill replied slowly. ”After all, the demons and devils of Toril are countless, one more or less doesn’t matter.”

Besides, Hill remembered that not many Dark Elves bore children with Grazt, and the most famous was a Witch so powerful even Rose had to be wary of, and she was quite formidable.

If this really was that Witch’s son, he couldn’t just be a Purgatory Warrior; both parents were renowned for their cold-blooded cunning, unlikely to raise an honest person.

Hill even suspected this guy planned to find a chance to hide before the blood war, and then find a way to establish some military exploits before returning when his siblings had consumed each other enough.

Such a figure, Hill wasn’t foolish enough to provoke. This wasn’t Teraxil, it was Toril, a place teeming with lice too numerous to be bothered by...

Hill simply returned above the Hell’s Gate, trying to spot the presence Grazt’s son was avoiding.

He definitely didn’t want those demon priests who enjoyed conducting live sacrifices to enter the North, as they caused too much harm wherever they went.

Grazt’s priests liked to wear black clothing with silver jewelry decorations, most also equipped with snake-shaped swords, and often accompanied by person-faced lions for protection.

Actually, it’s quite easy to find them since there are many large demons, and they’re likely hiding behind those huge demons, needing a careful search.

These priests are just expendables; if they die, Grazt wouldn’t care, nor would he start a war without reason. Although his reputation was already ruined in the Valkin incident, the Demon Lord still hoped to recover a bit of his prestige.

After all, he possessed Azgrath, the most prosperous and attractive Plane of the Bottomless Abyss.

His bustling markets and halls filled with twisted joy attracted visitors from countless Planes. In Azgrath, even demons pretended to be polite and cultured, deceiving visitors into thinking they’d reached the safest place in the Bottomless Abyss.

However, ever since Grazt couldn’t resist his desires and imprisoned Valkin, the truly affluent and powerful bigwigs had kept a safe distance from Lord Wu’an’s domain.

So in the past millennium, he has been trying to portray himself as the ”most humane” presence among the Demon Lords.

Of course, the Wise Ones wouldn’t believe a demon more cunning than a devil, but fools would always fall for it.

Hill ultimately discovered the Female Priest hiding behind a tall Giant Bull Demon. She used a Deep Dark Art to conceal herself well, but in the end, it was just an Illusion Technique that utilized darkness.

For Hill, it was completely ineffective.

Hill looked down at the Female Priest diligently commanding the Demon Army to attack, and silently took out his Semi-Divine Artifact Painting.

Judging from the level of demons appearing, the Semi-Divine Artifact Painting could barely be used, after all, it was only considered high-level in Teraxil, whereas in Toril, it was hardly even a Subartifact.
