Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 832: Chapter 628: The Embarrassment of Government Official Shoulong An Yanfei

The merchant decisively placed his hand down and walked back to the cabin. After Valkin’s return, even merchants who still believe in Shandakor, the Windrider, are generally on the kind side of the Neutral Faction, and have no common language with him at all.

Merchants, after all, first pursue shiny Small Gold Coins. Who cares about adventuring and protection! A merchant group from the Kind Alignment is simply a joke; good people doing business? That’s just selling some small goods along the way.

Maztika was so enthusiastic because they saw the strangely shaped Otherworldly Whale. This method of turning living beings into metal doesn’t seem like something good people would do. Generally speaking, mages who can do such work for big money are willing to do a little dark work.

In the end, I ended up revering the wrong mountain!

What bad luck, the Maztika merchant swung the door shut on the cabin. Running into a big shot from the Kind Alignment is definitely the most annoying thing for merchants like them who work on the dark side.

Fortunately, before coming here, the slaves had already been cleared out; otherwise... he might end up like that unlucky Half-Demon slave merchant on Dragon Rock Star, losing even his life.

If it happens at the port, it’s easier to handle. The Shulong officials have always been tough; no reasons are sufficient to cause disputes in their territory, any issues should be dealt with back at sea.

But if you die on the trade route before reaching the port, as long as the reasons are justified, those dragons in the depths of the Shulong Empire won’t care at all.

Hill glanced back, and the people on the ship behind him had disappeared in an instant.

It seems that mentioning Shandakor made these sea merchants, who like to double as pirates, unwilling to deal with him anymore.

Honestly, Shandakor also has evil followers!

Hill pouted; just because he had a ship that looked ferocious, he couldn’t consider himself a merchant group!

But... Hill suddenly remembered that he indeed had to pretend to be a merchant group. Some of the more precious porcelains, silks, tea leaves, and including jewelry and jades from the Shulong Empire were sold officially and not retailed. Any goods they sold were in standard cabin units.

”List.” Hill called his Tower Spirit, ”Change the appearance and clothes of the puppets; they shouldn’t look exactly the same. I’m now the official merchant team of Agleya City.”

Anyway, no one was paying attention to him anymore. Hill leisurely lowered the terrace and returned to the study, completely unaware that a few divine dragons observing from the seabed were sighing in disappointment.

Compared to the art style favored by the Shulong Empire, they preferred Hill’s style more.

The masters of the Revelation Road paint powerful and imposing divine dragons indeed. However, those below the masters always seem to paint something unrecognizable. Maybe it’s because we divine dragons don’t understand art, but those long, thin forms seemed irrelevant to us!

Moreover, the followers of the Revelation Road pursue something as intangible as essence and spirit. The dragons they paint could be anyone, unlike this Western, blonde artist, whose depiction is so vivid and clear. At a glance, you can tell it’s Ao Qing! Even the whiskers are exactly the same!

The divine dragons nestled at the bottom of the East Sea were all envious: We need to rough up Ao Qing first and foremost.

Hill had no idea what trouble he had stirred up; he always assumed that given the artistic development speed of this world, classical oil painting must have reached the Kalartu Continent long ago.

He completely overlooked the fact that not everyone could see these divine dragons and have the leisure to observe every detail of their bodies.

Ao Qing dared to intercept Hill alone only because he was powerful enough. Purwell himself only appeared when someone was above level 20, and the oppressive force from the owner of the Otherworldly Whale was even stronger.

Strong enough that these divine dragons had to show themselves as amicable as possible. Even though Hill’s gaze was intense, Ao Qing had to endure the discomfort and speak to him kindly.

However, under the sea, Ao Qing optimistically flicked his long dragon tail. Fortunately, he behaved well and happily sent a message to the Half-Dragon Race descendants on Reception Island, instructing them to treat this guest with kindness and utmost respect.

Unaware of all this, Hill was racking his brain to write a passage warrant for himself: A certificate confirming that this merchant team is recognized as the official merchant team of Agleya City by the City Lord.

Although it seemed that this merchant team’s power was a bit too much, let’s just say the City Lord of Agleya City has a kind heart and is easy to talk to~

Looking again at the finely crafted and elegant hard-covered book, Hill took out his City Lord’s seal and stamped it with a ’clap’.

Fortunately, after Lynn arrived, he thoroughly clarified everything, even notifying all the nations and cities of Ferun Great Land about Agleya City’s city emblem and City Lord’s seal. Otherwise, Hill wouldn’t have it so easy on his travels!

With List raising the flag imprinted with Agleya City’s emblem, Hill silently picked up a book and began to read. He felt a bit awkward; arriving in a country somewhat similar to his past, only to find the first thing he encountered was lining up on a main thoroughfare.

Unfortunately, honking wasn’t an option here either.

Hill arrived at Reception Island at noon, but by the time his ship slowly moved to the port, the sky was already adorned with countless stars twinkling alongside the Silvermoon.

The buildings on Reception Island were plentiful and dense, brightly lit; though it was late, bustling crowds could still be seen.

Hill stood on the terrace, thoughtfully observing the buildings at the port. Though the styles differed slightly, the brick-and-tile constructions with flying eaves stirred something within him.

The port official of the Shulong Empire was quite insightful. When he saw Purwell, he didn’t even raise an eyebrow as he directed the Otherworldly Whale to the area designated for high-level magic ships.

Here, the ships were not large, but one could immediately tell they were battle-ready. The glow of magic weapons could not be concealed even when covered with thick cloths.

Indeed, it seemed quiet here, but the guards on the shore and the heavy weapons on the port’s watchtowers proved that none of the ships docked here were easy to deal with.

As for the Otherworldly Whale, its combat capability alone qualified it to stand alongside these high-level magic ships, so it was, indeed, not misplaced.

A government official, with a sword at his waist and clad in a blue robe, approached Purwell and looked up at Hill standing on the terrace.

His blue robe was sleeveless, revealing a white undergarment with gold trimmings. The lower part of his robe was split, showing white trousers tucked into long boots. The few pouches and a thick book hanging from his standard belt suggested his unique status, indicating he might be a sorcerer but possibly also doubled as a sword dancer.

This was a common profession among officials serving the Shulong Empire’s royal family, capable of observing celestial phenomena and protecting themselves without using spells.

Seeing that Hill had no intention of speaking first, the sorcerer moved his long, straight black hair to the back and smiled as he spoke: ”Good evening, Captain. I am An Yanfei, the administrative executive from Reception Island’s VIP dock. May I ask where you’re coming from? Do you have documentation?”

Hill blinked, waved his hand, and a hardcover book swiftly flew towards An Yanfei.

The government official deftly caught the book of demeanor, but could not help the twitch of his face, his wrist subtly shook to absorb the enormous force, using technique to cushion it.

An Yanfei had never before seen a mage from Ferun who was also a part-time warrior!

It’s just that the strength was a bit too much.

Glancing at the mage wearing a very formal camel robe who didn’t seem to find his strength excessive, An Yanfei could judge that this person was not intentionally testing his response, but was simply accustomed to such great strength.

Hill couldn’t help but glance at the Shulong official, whose expression kept changing, wondering what he was thinking while holding the book without looking at it.

”Sir,” List whispered in his ear, ”You just used too much strength.”

Hill suddenly realized, when he first saw this tall, handsome, fair, and elegant official, he got a bit excited: he had completely forgotten that in that past world, beauty had always been associated with fairness since ancient times.

There were indeed big differences between different shades of fair!

And then he forgot to use magic to send the book of demeanor and threw it directly instead.

The seldom hands-on Hill had never perfectly controlled the strength in his hands. He rarely had to act himself, since the Hand of the Mage was so useful.

”Hello, I’m Polanio from Agleya City.” Hill said with an embarrassed smile, ”From Sword Bay in the northwest region of the Ferun Great Land.”

An Yanfei raised an eyebrow, knowing about this city on the Ferun Great Land that had recently become very famous.

Most importantly, many captains of the Empire’s magic ships had mentioned that the city lord of that place greatly favored items from the Shulong Empire and had purchased many sent to Deepwater City.

They even suggested opening a special route there, as the strange objects from Agleya City were also very popular in Shulong.

Unexpectedly, the city lord had actually sent someone over; this was truly a surprise. An Yanfei carefully studied the blue and white flag fluttering on the transparent ship hull and memorized the design on it: two waves encircling the outside, with a magic book in the middle.

What did this mean? An Yanfei thought the pattern within the magic book looked like an animal’s claw.

In his mind, he compared it with the famed beasts of the Ferun Great Land but couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was, deciding to ask the great witch upon returning.

This book of demeanor was meant to be held by the port’s government officials to exert control over these powerful merchants who roamed the oceans unrestrained.

For many sea merchants, without this travel document, many official ports would not allow them to enter, so they generally didn’t dare to cause trouble openly.

An Yanfei stored the book, then took out a metallic plaque, looking a bit awkwardly at the whale before him: ”This is a berth plaque that needs to be hung on the ship.

The outer rim of the plaque is inlaid with sixteen round passes, so Mr. Polanio can only bring along those wearing passes to enter the Empire’s coastal cities.

When Mr. Polanio decides to leave, he must return the passes to the berth plaque and exchange the plaque for the passage document with me.”

Hill quickly understood why An Yanfei was troubled and couldn’t help but laugh.
