Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 446: Chapter 245: Xerthis, the Birth of the Moon Elves!

Hill rested his chin on his hand, listening to Adrian’s assessment of the day across from him, ”I think His Majesty the King did it deliberately; he has lived in this world for so long.

He himself is immortal, so how could he still think about age issues.

It must be to divert Spencer’s thoughts.

This guy looks serious, but he’s actually very gossipy; that’s why he’s interested in this age difference.

Even though everyone knows he should become Young William’s Divine Subordinate, Naven still can’t feel the indifference that a long life brings.”

Hill silently lowered his head. Should he be glad that Adrian couldn’t hear his own words?

William must be genuinely interested, just like he is, and for both of them, older women by three hundred years is an amusing topic.

Even having been in this world for so long, many ingrained thoughts are indeed hard to erase.

Hill really needed to start changing the way he approached issues.

On the other side, Adrian continued, ”That being said, that guy is too pitiable.

Although it’s not wrong according to the rules of the Spencer Family, being the one who is abandoned always feels resentful.

If only he were mediocre.

It just happens that Naven is the strongest of this generation in the Spencer family.

The style of the military nobility, I somewhat fail to understand.

Furthermore, the Saral Nobles won’t likely have any battlefields calling for them anytime soon, and Spencer’s identity isn’t suitable for joining the King’s Guard.

But I’ve noticed, even that fool Belter knows why the Spencer Family is doing this.

Is there really such a big difference between the thinking of Mages and Knights?”

Belter is which one? Hill thought absentmindedly.

Finally, he plucked out that Duke Saral who was almost beaten to a pulp by the Undead Tribe from his mind.

Although he loves stirring trouble with his loose tongue, this guy is also a Grand Knight, one of the excellent ones among the Saral Royal Family members.

Being part of the military and political plays, of course, he could understand the operations of the Spencer Family.

Adrian, who used to engage in noble conspiracies, put his own interests first, so he couldn’t understand the Spencer Family.

But Hill, who had read many novels, could think of a reason.

If there really was a need to go to war, they wouldn’t be doing this.

What the Spencer Family now needs to maintain is their family cohesion, not needing a particularly strong Sky Knight to lead in battle.

And what stronger cohesion is there than a family that is ready to abandon even a legitimate Sky Knight, just to preserve the descendants of knights who had sacrificed themselves on the battlefield to protect the Clan Leader?

For at least a few generations, people will remember, as long as you fight bravely, your children, regardless of what they do within the family, will be protected.

It’s just pitiable for Spencer, really quite unlucky.

Hill knew he had grown up alongside William, feeling not much affection for his own family, so even though he was the closest and highest-ranked to both William and the Spencer family, he was still directly considered expendable.

The Spencer Family, now presumably, has confirmed that they have chosen to follow the Goddess of Joy rather than William.

Adrian probably wouldn’t expect someone to give up following the more powerful entity for what’s perceived as a safer option.

But in the heart of the Spencer Family, perhaps William had abandoned them first.

So they decisively gave up on Naven, destined to live a life amidst blood and gore.

As long as he was around, the Spencer Family would always be a thorn in the side of the Great Nobility, as William was too fond of him.

As for the now abandoned forces of the Spencer Family, what they need is stability.

They wish to move away from the most fiercely competitive regions of Saral and solidify their family’s power.

Hearing Adrian also ask about the Goddess Spencer, Hill couldn’t help but laugh.

Uncle Adrian is actually a very fair person, who never likes the noble style of abandoning one’s own relatives for some benefits. Moreover, he has always been protective of his recognized friends, still maintaining such a strong style after so many years.

Although he does not know what the Spencer Family is up to, he pointed straight to their real backer.

In a situation where Naven was clearly going to become William’s Divine Subordinate, the Goddess of the Spencer surely wouldn’t offend William to pull the family together.

William’s position was clear, he had already discussed this with the Goddess of Joy, and her choice was also clear. The family wasn’t about to be destroyed, so naturally, Young William was the most important.

The Spencer Family, since they want stability, might as well go for complete stability!

A few hundred years later, when Naven has ascended to the Starry Sky, let’s see what the Spencer Family turns into?

As for that Belter, Hill was very interested.

Adrian probably didn’t think this way, as in the past, the lord was the absolute controller of his territory.

But now, the city isn’t just a noble’s fief anymore.

Belter should probably be the future Deputy City Lord of Central City, right?

William would certainly not let Adrian wield great power alone, it is just that currently, with his presence, there is no need yet.

Once everything settles, he will definitely have to arrange a deputy who can counterbalance Adrian.

A capable Saral is certainly the most suitable.

That incident with Belter fighting the Undead Tribe, William didn’t mind.

It could only be proven that afterwards, he had made amends, and his relationship with the Undead Tribe could now be considered quite good.

In the Saral Family, he was indeed a commendable presence, actually possessing something as rare as emotional intelligence.

If this Belter was competent enough, William would not mind giving him more authority, perhaps even significantly more.

It seemed that William was about to begin training these Sarals, seeking a successor to the throne among them.

Adrian quickly finished speaking and left again, of course, he also mentioned something about the Magic Array.

But they all knew that this Magic Array was something Hill would never share.

A Magic Array which even the Deities could not locate, the last one had hidden a demon for tens of thousands of years.

However, just in this short period, after a large number of demons had been discovered, that Magic Array had been thoroughly analyzed until it became clear and obvious, now even an ordinary Magister could quickly find flaws in such an Array.

Although it was a good thing, Hill was not willing for his Magic Array to meet such a fate.

He was not willing to let just anyone come knocking on his door.

Days passed slowly amidst Hill’s forging sounds.

The war in the Dwarf Kingdom was perhaps fierce, but the humans felt little tension.

In the Forest of the Elves, the winds of change were swirling, yet the humans could hardly detect much.

They could only sense the ominous atmosphere from the Half-Elf Kingdom, the closest to Central City.

At the least, the meeting the Half-Elf Queen had once agreed to with William had already been postponed.

Hill never managed to visit Viola in the Forest of the Elves.

The Half-Elf Queen’s first diplomatic visit after the establishment of their nation ended in failure.

Every few days, Adrian would come and update on the growth status of the seeds on the Moon Tree and the Elves’ response.

The Moon Tree on the Moon Halo grew larger and larger, yet the Elven God King remained inactive.

Hill did not know if the Elven God King was considering renaming these hybrid Moon Elves.

This guy, he didn’t know if he was worried about a repeat attack and thus remained utterly silent.

After all, the current Moon Elves were, to him, as useless as a rib.

The Elves had been intermarrying for so long they could now stay in this world.

After the fall of his and the Lord of the Moon Elves’ daughter, no beauty could urge the Divine King to take a risk.

Time passed quickly.

Twenty-one days after the Moon Halo was hung on the Moon Tree, the first fruit opened.

Hill had long sensed it coming; for so many days, it was the first time he quietly left the subterranean island.

He flew to a place closest to the Moon Tree.

He stood in midair, watching the first true Moon Elf emerge from the Moon Halo.

Perhaps due to Hill’s influence, this was a male Moon Elf.

His long hair was a faint, almost platinum color, not like those past Moon Elves that shimmered with a blue glow in their silver.

His strength had already surpassed Hill’s, stronger than any demigod Hill had met could claim.

His demeanor was gentle, clearly a person with a calm nature.

He stood in midair, surveying his surroundings, and finally, his gaze turned towards the continent, eventually finding Hill and offering him a smile filled with gratitude.

Agleya didn’t wait for him to speak, appearing directly before him, ”Come back to the Divine Kingdom with me! Your return with me has been agreed upon by Hill’s dad and the Goddess of the Silvermoon! What is your name?”

”Xerxis Moon Tree,” the Elf replied in a gentle voice. ”True Moon Elves are all Moon Trees.”

And the Goddess of the Hunt had never mentioned this.

The surnames of that group of Moon Elves in the Forest of the Elves were numerous and long. Hill suspected they were all made with the names of true Moon Elves.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, even William appearing beside him couldn’t stop his schadenfreude.

Whatever the Goddess of the Hunt had thought back then, even so many years later, no one had ever said Moon Elves shared a common surname.

For a tribe, this was incredibly important, yet apparently, not a single real Moon Elf had told their offspring that they were of the Moon Tree Family.

They had grown accustomed to calling each other by their names, but why had they never told their children?

And the Elves, it seemed, thought these Moon Elves were just that primitive, never imagining that they originally shared a common surname.

”Hill,” William said quietly, ”does the Moon Tree also relate to you?”

”A little. The Goddess of the Silvermoon still felt a bit uneasy, so she handed them over to Agleya.” Hill decided to tell only half-truth.

”This Xerxis was born with a bit of divinity, and not a weak one,” William spoke lightly. ”The Goddess of the Silvermoon is not so magnanimous.

Demigods on earth struggle for tens of thousands of years and might not even have such a bit of divinity.

Once Xerxis enters the Sea God’s Divine Kingdom, he would soon ignite the Divine Fire and become an official Divine Subordinate.

I have thought it through, and if there really was anyone who obtained Divine Fire and wouldn’t care about it,

it would only be you, Hill.

Would you please clear up the confusions for your perplexed friend?”
