Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 439: Chapter 238 Burying His Head into Forging, Refining Demi-God Artifact by Hill

List knew that the leftover alchemy products were ones Hill particularly liked: ”There is still a year left, sir. These items are not essential.”

Hill smiled: ”It’s okay, List. If I really like them, I can always make more later.

Saving every penny now is what’s important.

Remember to prepare as much storable food as possible.”

Seeing Hill’s determined expression, List sighed and left to tidy up the warehouse.

Hill didn’t mind these things. Honestly, it was a common issue for modern people to love one and then discard it.

No matter how long Hill had been in this world, it was difficult to change such ingrained habits.

If something wasn’t fresh enough, even a game played for ten years and costing a lot of money could be discarded.

He liked many things, but none were indispensable.

Since that was the case, why not sell them? For Hill now, these alchemy products weren’t as important as crystal stones.

Hill felt more connected to his Earth Bear bloodline than to the famously elegant and beautiful Moon Elves.

Hill sat upright in his study and opened the coming-of-age gift from the Earth Bear.

As Aurelio mentioned, this was something every bear would receive.

Upon opening it, he first saw two transparent crystal bottles.

One contained honey from the Legendary Bee King, and the other contained high-level honey.

This honey was the most gentle elemental supplement, truly useful for the growth of magical beasts.

However, not everyone could snatch honey from the Legendary Bee King’s hive.

Of course, Hill knew that for a demigod-level Earth Bear, standing still and letting the Bee King sting him would pose no problem.

But unlike other little bears, Hill valued these two crystal-clear bottles more.

These were the fruits of the Moonlight Bottle Tree.

As long as the silk sacs in the middle were emptied out, they could become natural water containers.

The Earth Bear had obtained legendary magical plant fruits, which looked palm-sized but could actually hold over ten liters of water.

Hill took out two bottles he had refined himself and transferred the honey into them.

Later, he would properly refine these two natural bottles to hold several hundred liters without a problem.

Next came a large number of dried fruits, all being the fruits of legendary magical plants.

For someone of Hill’s level, eating a few pieces a day would suffice.

Hill sighed. If Aurelio was not simply craving food, it was probably because the Earth Bear had experienced hardships, so he valued food highly.

The coming-of-age gift for little bears ensured they wouldn’t go hungry.

Other items included various earth materials, provided in small quantities, allowing the little bears to learn conversion techniques.

Hill had List store most of them in the warehouse.

However, there were a few items Hill had only heard of and didn’t even know how to convert.

Fran had never seen these materials either.

Hill stored these in his pendant, planning to analyze the properties of the ores and convert some later to show his grandfather.

There were no other items. The world of the Earth Bear was very simple.

Ensuring the little bears didn’t starve and allowing them to live healthily was the only support the tribe provided.

Anything else they wanted, they had to earn through their own efforts.

Love was love, but it definitely wasn’t indulgence.

Hill suddenly remembered the coming-of-age gift given by Fran.

A worry-free life, and plenty of books.

Hill didn’t plan to stay in the valley much longer. After packing his things and asking List to make more food, he returned to the island.

He left the cooking puppet to List, bringing only two ordinary ones.

He would come back when the time was right.

Hill needed to make his weapon. The island was quiet enough, perfect for him to retreat and work.

He already had a preliminary blueprint in mind and could start working on it.

He would return when it was nearly completed.

Hill planned to include many good things, hoping to touch the edge of a demi-god artifact.

If any unusual signs appeared, it would be better to be within his territory.

Hill looked out the window. The sky was a clear blue, the sun shining brightly, and there was no sign of activity in the direction of Fran’s territory.

Fran had activated the largest isolation array, retreating in seclusion.

The whole world knew of his relationship with Queen Viola, and Fran had essentially severed contact with everyone.

Fran planned to emerge only when it was time to battle the dwarves. Until then, he intended to improve his demi-god crystal ball.

This war seemed to concern only the King of Saral, with even the God of Time and Space not showing much enthusiasm.

But every country, human legendary mages, and popes of the major temples had begun gathering forces in Central City.

Adrian secretly told Hill he had learned for the first time that the Goddess of Agriculture also had a pope. This pope usually traveled, tending to altars for the Goddess of Agriculture across the continent without accepting offerings, so few knew about him.

This time, the Goddess of Agriculture even set up a large circular altar outside Central City.

The Archbishop of the Sub Temple of the God of Knowledge and the Pope of the Goddess of Agriculture had a harmonious conversation; it was clear who they were to anyone with sense.

The Noble Temple didn’t need mentioning, as Diodisio had always been present.

The Pope of the Goddess of Love also built an altar beside the Noble Temple.

Most importantly, both the Sun God and the Goddess of the Silvermoon, with William’s help, had constructed their first temples.

On the outer ring of Central City, the east featured the tall Sun God Temple, and the west had the beautiful Silvermoon Temple.

The north was a road, and the south was currently empty.

Next to the Sun God Temple were the God of Agriculture and the God of Contract. Adjacent to the Moon Temple were the God of Knowledge, the Noble Temple, and the Goddess of Love.

All the Tower Masters of the Sorcerer Towers were Silvermoon Sorcerers, so they were positioned next to the Silvermoon Temple.

The remnants of the Mage Association were assigned to the side of the Sun God Temple.

Adrian gleefully noted that the mages preferred to stay as far away from sorcerers as possible; what a pleasant spot it was, receiving the warm greetings of the Sun God!

The power of the sun god was mighty, shining magnificently.

If future temple followers didn’t want to live within the city, they could build their houses in the empty areas between the temples and the city walls.

William generously left those areas to be managed by the temples.

The other human kingdoms would naturally occupy these places according to their faiths and preferences.

The temples wouldn’t interfere with secular matters, so these areas would eventually fall under the control of human nations.

Hill began to understand that while William occupied the prime central location, the Gods of Time and Space couldn’t overtly dominate the place.

The world’s center belonged to all of humanity.

William wouldn’t want humans to fight among themselves for this place and then allow magical beasts to take advantage.

As the one who had conquered the bounteous territory, William had the right to occupy the best part but couldn’t take it all, as it was too large and would be overwhelming.

Everyone understood that the southern part of Central City was reserved for someone.

Regarding the Sea God Temple, Hill had refused to build a temple for Agleya there.

Hill couldn’t fully grasp the relationships among the deities and didn’t wish to naively drag Agleya into the mix.

Hill had never intended to place Agleya’s temple on land.

But the location of the temple depended on Agleya’s growth and whether she could unify the seas.

Currently, even though the ocean nominally belonged to her, it was meaningless. The best spots had long been claimed by demigods and sea monsters.

Hill spent a week in the Magic Tower.

Since he wouldn’t easily kill the friendly messengers, Hill simply chose not to see anyone.

With his firm refusal to respond, fewer and fewer people sought him out.

The true coronation of Queen Viola was three days away, Hill remembered.

The Elven God King hadn’t reacted, likely finding nothing to be concerned about.

As long as it remained under the Elf Deity System, the powers of those below wouldn’t affect his perception.

Therefore, it was up to the legendary mage eyeing the God of Half-Elves position to see if he could kill Viola before her coronation.

Once Viola became queen, with the reverence of the masses, she could directly ignite the divine fire.

The first king of the half-elves wouldn’t achieve divinity as the first human king did, but it wouldn’t fall short either.

If she didn’t have the hope of becoming a demigod, Viola wouldn’t take such risks.

Hill planned to leave before then, even abandoning the Magic Tower.

Who knew what might happen and drag him into it?

Agleya’s presence always made people eager to pull Hill into their faction.

If he didn’t see anything, he wouldn’t need to respond to anything.

Even if Viola died on the spot, Hill wouldn’t rush out to fight for her.

Blood ties meant less to him than karmic cause and effect.

On the underground island, the residual aura of the Earth Artifact would remain for a while, keeping it hidden from the gods.

After packing the belongings List had arranged, Hill went underground in the valley and followed a group of undead scattered ones preparing to leave.

Though scattered ones walked together, they were quite spread out in groups of two or three or sometimes alone, making it easy for Hill to blend in.

He walked out of the valley with them and then entered a small town.

The wealthier undead rushed to the inn to buy food, while those without money headed straight for the teleportation array.

As Hill had no money, he naturally chose to teleport directly.

The undead seemed to prefer the teleportation array outside Central City, possibly because the city had too many rules, and the area around the array had become an undead camp.

Hill noticed some guards at the array, but they were rather perfunctory, glancing around indifferently.

In this place, no one would dare cause trouble.

The undead had a notorious reputation for ruthlessness and relentless revenge.

Hill walked into the wilderness and submerged himself into the ground at a blind spot in the landscape.

Returning to the island, Hill focused on forging every day.

This weapon, honestly speaking, no one could craft better than him.

Only he would start from raw ores and do everything himself. Most people bought the prepared blanks from dwarves.

Even Hill’s forging hammer was self-made.
