Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 421: Chapter 220: Luck like the wind, always by my side

Fran had always preferred to do a little more himself, rather than owe anyone a favor.

But not everyone had this awareness, even Legendary Mages.

Fran sighed and shook his head, ”Draculus understands. He is different from those few above. He genuinely believes that everything you did was out of your own will and not because he asked for help.

His strength was also enough to ensure that even if you weren’t around, nothing significant would happen to him.

His own men didn’t suffer much at the hands of those demons. Even if this Demon truly escaped, it wouldn’t matter much to him.

He did his best but failed. That’s life.

As for humans, if that Demon truly has the ability to escape, it would only prove that this world was destined to suffer this catastrophe.

In his mind, if the Deities didn’t intervene, they also wouldn’t have the right to question why he couldn’t stop the Demon.

Even though this place belonged to him, Draculus would still believe that His Majesty the King bears more responsibility than himself.

In his mind, His Majesty the King represents the Human Gods.

Mages act on their own will for the sake of humanity, while Deities act out of duty.

Annoying as he is, his logic has always been like this.

But those few above are different.

They had students and family involved, many of whom died. They want revenge.

If you hadn’t come, that Demon Babu had a high chance of escaping. Maybe even that Vice President could have escaped.

They knew in their hearts that they owe you.

But just watching, they might prefer you to die. Dead people don’t need to have their favors returned.

Do they really think the World Will is dead?

Leaving behind a tangle of grievances, would you want to leave this world?”

”If they wanted to leave, they wouldn’t have stayed with the Mage Association for so long,” Hill said indifferently, ”Except for the President and a few thousand-year-old Legendary Laws Mages, the others haven’t spent much time in the Starry Sky.

They probably would only start thinking about it when they are close to the end of their lives.

For the thousands-of-years-old Legendary Laws Mages, except for Draculus, those who wanted to leave had left long ago.

That Demonized Vice President is an example. Some people simply don’t want to leave their familiar lives.”

”How did they become Legends?” Fran muttered to himself.

”Pursuing truth doesn’t necessarily mean leaving this world.” Hill smiled, ”Compared to those who leave without looking back, at least they believe this world will never be destroyed!”

”Draculus probably gave them that illusion!” Fran suddenly said, ”That person must stay far away. He loves observing why two opposite types of people exist.

If they have this feeling, probably Draculus is conducting another human nature study.”

Hill was stunned for a moment, then felt a deep respect, deciding to keep a respectful distance.

Such a person was no different from a Devil.

He hoped that after Draculus left this world, he wouldn’t encounter a Demon Lord interested in him, or his soul would only end up falling.

Fran shook his head and asked Hill, ”Do you know why you were assassinated?”

”Being a Nature Warlock is not the main reason.” Hill held the pendant that had returned to his neck, ”A Nature Warlock with the Earth Bear Bloodline—that’s what makes me their enemy.”

”What are you going to do about it?” Fran said helplessly, ”Your Earth Bear Bloodline is not hard to discover. Neither the Fran Family nor the Pelast Family has a Warlock Bloodline, so it must be from the Elf heritage.

And in the Elf heritage, the only Earth Bloodline seems to be the Earth Bear.

Although that legend is a joke, the Elves generally believe half of it.”

Hill waved dismissively, ”Don’t worry, Grandfather. I will be careful in the future. Once I reach Legendary, it will be hard to kill me. If they attack me, I have the Natural Consciousness to warn me. In a direct assault, summoning from the Elemental Realm takes only ten seconds.

If I didn’t want to observe the laws spreading in this half-plane, I would have left long ago.

My Element Lords are still waiting in the Elemental Realm, afraid something will happen.”

Fran nodded, ”I won’t ask you why. Don’t explain to Adrian either. Even the Deities seem unclear about this. His Majesty the King looked puzzled after it ended.

Since that’s the case, don’t speak of it.

The Deities might not hear our conversation, but they might feel something and directly find the reason.”

Hill nodded, ”Did you tell Uncle Adrian about this?”

”I’ve never told him,” Fran sighed, ”Draculus went over. For now, don’t tell him. I worry he might cause trouble with Draculus’s people.

He won’t act himself, just let the Undead Tribe do it.

Isn’t that Young Master also there?

If something happens, Draculus won’t need clues to guess who did it.

Adrian won’t suffer much, but he will be unlucky.

I don’t want my student to be tormented.”

Hill sighed, ”Uncle Adrian would find the path to Legendary sooner.”

Fran shook his head, ”These things depend on him. Being anxious won’t help.”

He looked at Hill, who was sitting on the sofa hugging his knees, ”How do you plan to retaliate? Do you need my help?”

”The Dwarves have no idea what a Nature Warlock can do,” Hill said with a cold smile, ”Grandfather, you don’t need to act. I’ll simply issue a task to the Undead Tribe.”

Fran looked at Hill with surprise and saw him rotating his pendant.

Although Hill had a nonchalant expression, he was really angry!

Fran pondered. Hill must be planning to use plants again.

Elf Druids plant a lot of flowers and grasses, understanding plant growth and effects well.

But Hill seemed to understand plants’ characteristics more deeply, especially some seemingly meaningless abilities, so he used them skillfully.

Hill turned the pendant, determined.

The Emerald Butterfly had a particularly strong life force, and after absorbing metal, it would strengthen itself with these metals.

He discovered this after several trials planting it inside the pendant.

If a magical plant Emerald Butterfly absorbed metal, cutting it with a knife would be almost impossible.

Hill had no low-level weapons.

Moreover, the Emerald Butterfly’s seeds had stable genetic traits.

The next generation would absorb metals more strongly and quickly.

It was a plant’s self-reinforcement and self-protection.

If these plants fully covered the mine, the Dwarves would have no solution other than setting the mountain on fire.

However, after the Emerald Butterfly absorbed metal to strengthen itself, burning them would also nearly deplete the metal mines.

This world’s flames could indeed turn metals to ash.

Or wield a divine artifact to chop them?

If that happened, Hill would be quite pleased.

Fran looked at Hill’s face full of schemes and smiled helplessly, ”First observe the half-plane. We can deal with other matters later.”

Hill nodded. The opportunity was precious; he knew what was more important.

Fran stayed with Hill for another half-month, only then did the half-plane finally collapse completely.

Fran thought if he ever passed by a newborn half-plane, he would definitely notice it.

In a rare good mood, he asked Hill, ”How is it? Did you find the half-plane? There shouldn’t be any problem, right?”

Hill’s face froze as he looked at Fran.

”What’s wrong?” Fran stood up. What had happened now?

”The rubble...” Hill stammered, ”The last bit that flashed and shattered at the end... it merged into my pendant.”

Fran was momentarily expressionless, unsure what to say.

Though he always knew Hill had good luck, this was extraordinary, making him feel almost unbelievable.

”How large?” Fran thought for a moment. The half-plane’s entrance indicated it was a medium-sized half-plane.

Hill blinked and checked the pendant again, ”About the size of Central City.”

Fran looked blankly at the sky outside. Those departing Legendary Laws Mages would be furious if they knew.

A tenth of a medium-sized half-plane had just fallen into Hill’s hands.

Hill was delighted. He would return to the valley, transferring some magical plants; it was almost full.

Moreover, for cultivating saplings, it would be more than sufficient.

He could also build a Magic Tower inside to control, requiring just a Nature’s Blessing every day from Hill.

”Adventure always pays off!” Hill said, grinning.

”Only your adventures.” Fran could not help but feel a little bitter.

Once all the legends had left far away, Fran took Hill straight to Central City.

”Are you staying here or going back with me?” Fran asked Hill.

”I’ll go back with you,” Hill responded quickly. ”I have a lot to do. I will issue tasks and leave; Uncle Adrian can handle it from now on,”

”That should be fine,” Fran agreed.

Adrian, seeing the two arriving together, asked in surprise, ”Teacher, did you also go?”

”There’s a benefit; only Legendaries can use it.” Fran glanced at his busy student, ”Hill just called me over.”

Adrian smiled wryly, ”Teacher, no need to mock me. Though busy, I do feel something.”

Hearing the rare good news, Fran smiled and remained silent.

Hill directly asked Adrian how to issue tasks to the Undead Tribe and where to place the required items.

Adrian blinked and called a Mage over, ”Hand him the items and requirements, including the rewards. You should understand the process.”

Hill greeted the junior Mage and handed over a storage ring, ”Everything is inside, both the task items and rewards. The Undead Tribe can also increase my territory’s friendliness.”

Then he took out the Dwarf Great Mine map he had carefully remembered in the past few days, ”My request is to plant these flowers all over these barren mountains. The sight of bare earth is unbearable!”
