Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

”So if your abilities in this area are lacking, it might affect my evaluation of you.”

After Li Younan said this, none of the four interviewers raised their hands.

Li Younan nodded and continued, ”Then let’s proceed to the first test.”

The young man on stage gave a look to the pretty girl beside him, and she immediately understood, stood up, took several sheets of A4 paper from the table, and distributed them to the four interviewers, also handing them a pen.

Li Younan said, ”Next, I will play an English navigation command from the radio, and please translate it immediately after listening.”

This is not a very complex task, and for these veteran engineers, it should be the most basic of the basics.

So Chen Tiefeng felt more at ease in his heart. If it’s only at this level, this interview wouldn’t be a problem, but if it’s really this simple, it might be difficult to distinguish themselves from the others.

The first task ended quickly, and the young girl collected the four papers and brought them up. Li Younan just glanced over and set them aside.

Then, Li Younan had the young girl distribute a written material to them, which was also entirely in English.

As the four of them began reading, Li Younan spoke from the stage: ”This is an English technical document for a vessel, and I’ll give you 10 minutes to read it.”

”After that, I will issue inspection orders in the scene of a routine check conducted by the United States classification society, and you will need to draw lots to determine your topic and respond.”

The young girl brought down four slips, and Chen Tiefeng casually picked one. It was number 3, marked ”Explain equipment compliance.”

He glanced at the English material again and took a deep breath.

Although he only went to a technical school, he has worked hard over the years, so this too was not a difficult task for him.

Soon, the 10 minutes were up.

Li Younan began asking them one by one.

Chen Tiefeng’s answer, though a bit stammering due to nervousness, was generally error-free, fairly standard.

The other three had drawn topics: one needed to address doubts, another to instruct foreign crew members with operational commands, and the last one to simulate a refueling scenario.

During this process, Chen Tiefeng suddenly became aware of one thing. The young man in front of him, known as an online celebrity and supposedly having no maritime experience, seemed extremely familiar with ocean sailing.

No, it could even be said that he was like a seasoned captain, completely evaluating the engineers from the perspective of ocean navigation.

Chen Tiefeng looked at the other three candidates. Their expressions were also very serious, with a hint of surprise.

Clearly, they were equally shocked by the capabilities Li Younan exhibited.

It should be known that not only Chen Tiefeng, but the other three were also under the impression before arriving here that Li Younan would probably bring an experienced captain or at least a sailor with maritime experience to conduct this interview assessment.

But unexpectedly, he took charge himself and demonstrated unexpected professionalism.

After several rounds of oral expression, there was a written exam.

This set of exam questions was personally created by Li Younan, and the questions were not difficult.

Li Younan did not intend to test them on highly technical issues, but rather on some everyday operational questions. They were all simple answer questions in English, without multiple-choice or fill-in-the-blank questions; he intended to use this exam to assess other qualities of these interviewers.

...

Li Younan collected the exam papers and smiled faintly: ”Please wait for a moment, and I will immediately review your papers and provide the results of the first round of interviews.”

Upon hearing this, the four individuals present were taken aback.

Ah, is he reviewing the papers himself?

Given they were here for the interview, these four naturally understood some information about Li Younan in advance.

Of course, they admired Li Younan quite a lot, after all, the abilities he had showcased in videos were truly astonishing.

Whether in his artistic accomplishments, his physical prowess, or his hands-on skills in plumbing and electricity, they were all outstanding.

But this was a very professional engineer interview!

Li Younan definitely has not sailed, as he implied in some videos mentioning his own experiences.

For a moment, Chen Tiefeng couldn’t help but feel uneasy. It felt like taking a preliminary math exam before the college entrance exam, with your gym teacher grading your papers.

Chen Tiefeng looked at the others beside him. Their expressions were somewhat subtle, largely echoing his thoughts.

At this point, Li Younan didn’t care what they thought. He started to review their papers on his own. The process was very fast; and it didn’t take long for Li Younan to skim through their papers and then set them aside.

For Li Younan, he possessed ship steering skills, so a good ship pilot naturally needs to understand the power system of its vessel.

Coupled with his electrical skills that gave him solid, professional knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, he organized this examination with only several hours of reading maritime books, achieving perfection.
