Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Li Younan excelled academically during his student days, especially before high school, consistently ranking first in his class by a wide margin.

On the basketball court, he was also a hero who could lead his team to victory, and the best part was he never pretended to be something he wasn’t.

In reality, men despise pretentiousness, but when someone truly remarkable behaves humbly, you can’t help but like them, and Li Younan was exactly such a person.

Li Younan’s last high school basketball game was during his sophomore year because their school no longer allowed seniors to waste time on basketball games, which were unrelated to college entrance exams.

In that game, Li Younan scored over forty points, and none of his classmates were sports students, totaling just over sixty points.

The championship battle was against the sports class from the same grade, which included two athletes who later joined the Tsinghua basketball team.

The game was extremely challenging, and Li Younan gave it his all.

During the crucial last play, three opponents surrounded him, and in that moment, Li Younan passed the ball, assisting a teammate who hadn’t scored any points throughout the game, clinching the final victory.

...

”Can’t you see?”

Lu Zhiqing felt utterly helpless at this moment.

He had encountered such questions numerous times before.

But indeed there was no choice, so he stubbornly said, ”Your condition requires a CT scan at a major hospital to be assessed.”

The other party frowned: ”You doctors at these community hospitals don’t know anything, always referring us to big hospitals for checks. What’s the point of paying taxes to support you community hospitals then?”

Facing this questioning from the patient’s family, Lu Zhiqing could only force himself to calm his emotions and continue to explain: ”Our community hospital has very basic equipment, and we genuinely cannot diagnose your chest pain properly.”

However, the other party had no intention of listening to his explanation, interrupting rudely: ”Forget it, forget it, all you do is shun your responsibilities, young people nowadays, even doctors just lie down, truly.”

The other party left in resentment, while Lu Zhiqing sighed softly.

Honestly, similar incidents had happened before, but he truly had no way to resolve them.

Being a general practitioner, becoming a qualified physician is no easy feat, requiring a full eight years of study.

Back then, he entered one of the country’s top medical schools with the second-highest entrance exam score in the county, brimming with ambition, but now he felt incredibly dejected and frustrated.

Throughout the eight years of studying, he had no income and was burdened with student loans, while friends of the same age had worked for years, some buying houses and getting married, others doubling their salaries, whereas he had just started living paycheck to paycheck.

The reality of his workplace also greatly contrasted with his expectations, as he was situated at a grassroots community hospital.

He dared not buy new clothes, and often avoided gatherings due to budget constraints.

Yet these living difficulties were still secondary.

The most painful aspect was facing patients’ misunderstandings daily.

Like the patient who just left, presenting with chest pain.

As a doctor with professional integrity, although Lu Zhiqing could somewhat evaluate mentally, the community’s equipment was basic, lacking CT and MRI facilities, relying only on routine blood tests and ultrasounds for a diagnosis, making accurate assessment impossible.

It could be gastritis, or a sign of a heart attack; without advanced equipment, relying solely on experience and questioning, could he make reckless statements?

Certainly not.

Initially, when encountering such misunderstandings, Lu Zhiqing attempted to explain, but now he had completely given up.

In grassroots hospitals, dealing with local citizens, the vast majority cannot be persuaded with reason; once they’ve fixed their beliefs, it’s almost impossible to change their minds.

Realizing this was what made Lu Zhiqing feel even more troubled.

He rubbed his temples and kneaded his shoulders, having not exercised for a long time, perhaps he could play some basketball to relax tomorrow, as it was the weekend.

Just then, a call came through from his boss, and Lu Zhiqing’s heart skipped a beat, but he still patiently answered.

”Zhijing, after work today, you’ll need to visit patients with hypertension and diabetes at Baige Community. Oh, and there’s tomorrow’s community health presentation task that hasn’t been completed by our hospital; could you work overtime a bit?”

”Tomorrow afternoon, we also need to organize elderly vaccination; we’re short on hands, so could you help?”

Lu Zhiqing opened his mouth: ”I have plans tomorrow...”

”Zhijing, I understand it’s a busy period, but isn’t everyone busy? We’re all working hard, so just hang in there.” With that, the call hung up.

Lu Zhiqing let out a long sigh; when he decided to become a doctor, he envisioned practicing clinical medicine, saving lives, but now treating patients had become secondary; he spent most of his time filling out forms, making calls, and giving lectures.

By the time he finished work, it was already past seven o’clock, but this was considered early.

At this moment, Lu Zhiqing only wanted to hurry back to his rented room to get a good night’s sleep; he changed his clothes and dragged his fatigued body to the bus stop.
