Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The patient’s family member who called lives not far from here, after all, the community hospital only serves two or three blocks.

Following the address provided by Lu Zhiqing, Li Younan drove to the residential area.

It’s not a particularly old community, but it’s estimated to have a history of over a decade. The commercial facilities around are relatively complete, but it’s obvious it’s not a high-end area.

Near the community, there is a whole street of small cars and roadside stalls, just about the time the stalls start operating, making the place quite lively.

Overall, the white-collar class among the crowd gathered in this area is probably quite less, as there’s not even a major shopping mall nearby.

Lu Zhiqing carried the medical kit, and the security guard at the entrance didn’t make things difficult for them. Seeing that Lu Zhiqing and Li Younan were visiting patients, he let them in.

The residential area was quite large. Lu Zhiqing, carrying his medical kit, checked the specific house number on his phone.

Li Younan watched with interest and casually asked, ”By the way, are there many medical students from 985 universities who go to community hospitals?”

Lu Zhiqing turned to look at Li Younan and smiled. He understood what Younan meant; it seemed to him that for 985 graduates to work in a community hospital might feel like a bit of underutilization.

Lu Zhiqing said, ”Don’t be surprised, quite a number of 8-year program general medical students from 985 universities choose to work at community hospitals.”

”Actually, apart from policy guidance, there are some benefits of working in a community hospital. In developed areas’ community hospitals, a general doctor’s annual salary is almost comparable to that of a new internal medicine doctor at some top-tier hospitals, and the workload at community hospitals is actually lighter.”

But Lu Zhiqing sighed slightly. He left part of the truth unsaid—that the gap between theory and reality is substantial.

The imagination is lush, but reality is stark.

Lu Zhiqing holds his liquor quite well; although he had three bottles of beer, he showed no adverse symptoms from drinking.

The two arrived at the relevant unit, knocked on the door, and after confirming that the elderly person was home, Lu Zhiqing began entering the password to unlock the door, surprising Li Younan a bit.

Lu Zhiqing turned and self-deprecatingly smiled, ”This old lady trusts me very much, so she gave me the password. Since her leg is injured, asking her to help me unlock the door would be quite troublesome.”

Li Younan understood, but also felt a particular emotion.

It must be noted that telling a stranger the password is not an easy thing, indicating that Lu Zhiqing has truly earned the trust of this family.

And for a doctor, in fact, it’s even more challenging to gain others’ trust, in a certain sense.

Li Younan followed Lu Zhiqing inside, where a sixty or seventy-year-old lady was sitting on the sofa. Upon seeing Lu Zhiqing, her face lit up with a smile, ”Zhijing, I’m sorry to trouble you so late. I initially called the other two, but they contacted you instead.”

Lu Zhiqing shook his head, ”Aunt Sun, no need to be so polite, let me take a look.”

Indeed, generally speaking, if an elder gets injured at home, who would call the doctor?

Lu Zhiqing swiftly conducted a body assessment for the elderly lady, first carefully observing the swelling of her knee joint, then gently pressing the edge of the injury with his fingers, and finally checking her range of motion.

After a quick professional examination, Lu Zhiqing said, ”It’s not a big issue, just needs a change of dressing.”

After the treatment, Aunt Sun couldn’t help but want Lu Zhiqing to stay a bit longer.

Li Younan could tell that this old lady seemed very unwilling for Lu Zhiqing to leave.

He glanced around, noticing it had probably been a long time since any young people came here.

He sighed slightly, his eyes flickering, lost in thought.

Lu Zhiqing patiently chatted with Aunt Sun for a while and hesitated a bit, considering if he was here alone, he would just accompany her longer, but with Li Younan here...

At this moment, however, Li Younan took the initiative to start a conversation: ”Aunt Sun, where are your children?”

Upon entering earlier, Lu Zhiqing introduced Younan as his assistant.

Now, when Younan asked, Aunt Sun responded warmly: ”They are quite busy, usually not at home.”

”So is it just you at home most of the time? Isn’t it inconvenient for you to do things?”

”My niece comes over during the day, haha, I mentioned to Zhijing last time, my niece is about the same age as him, thought about arranging a meeting or something.”

Li Younan laughed heartily, ”Zhijing stands to benefit, and wants nothing to do with it?”

Lu Zhiqing looked embarrassed, not answering because he hadn’t truly settled down in this city and wasn’t interested in dating.

After Younan initiated the conversation, Lu Zhiqing relaxed a bit.

He naturally sensed that with his high emotional intelligence, Younan had already discerned both his dilemma and the elder’s needs, feeling somewhat moved.

Indeed, after all these years, Li Younan was still just as perceptive as before, always able to understand others’ emotions.

They stayed at the elderly lady’s home for half an hour, then Lu Zhiqing used the elderly lady’s need to rest as an excuse to say goodbye.
