Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The host laughed heartily, then said, ”Do any of our audience members in the livestream have questions for Li Younan? Let’s randomly select some viewers for Younan to answer their questions.”

Soon, the host picked a lucky viewer and said, ”Let’s connect with this fortunate friend.”

Soon, the viewer’s voice came through the livestream. It seemed like it was their first time, and they sounded a bit nervous, like a young person: ”Li, Teacher Li... hello.”

Li Younan smiled calmly, ”Hello.”

”Teacher Li, I, I just wanted to ask, I’m also a mountaineering enthusiast, but I’ve only climbed introductory peaks over 3000 meters above sea level. I... I want to know, how can I improve to become a mountaineer like you, climbing Mount Everest?”

Li Younan thought seriously for a moment, then said, ”Wanting to become a mountaineer who climbs Mount Everest is a great big goal, it’s really good. You want to climb the highest mountain in the world, and that’s your direction of effort, but it’s best to set a small, achievable goal first. For example, maybe start with K2?”

”Oh, I see, tha... thank you, Teacher Li!”

Apparently, the viewer was still a bit confused and couldn’t organize their words well. At this moment, they just blurted a quick thank you and went offline.

After they went offline, they might only slowly start to grasp Li Younan’s words, but at this moment the livestream became lively again, with everyone commenting: ”Goodness, a small goal, K2, right?”

”President Wang has successors.”

”For a moment, I didn’t know whether Li Younan was joking or answering seriously.”

”This guy just wanted to have fun, all serious; won’t he really take that as a strategy?”

The second viewer asked, ”Hello, Teacher Li, I want to ask, was your biggest gain from climbing Mount Everest challenging human limits?”

Li Younan genuinely thought about this, shook his head, and said, ”From climbing Gongga Mountain to this time on Mount Everest, I have never had a mountaineering experience meant to challenge limits.”

”To be honest, I don’t even know where my limits are now. Climbing Mount Everest was just because I’m a traveler, and maybe the scenery on Mount Everest is quite beautiful. That’s the only reason I climbed Mount Everest.”

”I never intended to challenge limits. I am not interested in challenging limits.”

Someone immediately commented, ”President Ma also has no interest in money!”

The third question came from a skiing expert guest who asked, ”Mr. Younan, I’m curious why you choose snowboarding instead of skiing? Actually, we all know skiing is easier than snowboarding. Is this evidence of your desire to challenge limits?”

Li Younan sighed slightly and said, ”It’s really not about challenging limits.”

”Truth be told, I was a bit undecided before choosing the snowboard because I only brought three days of dry rations. After reaching the peak, once I ate all my food, I’d be hungry.”

”If I came down using conventional methods, I would starve, so I had to descend quickly. Snowboarding is definitely faster than walking, and snowboarding is faster than skiing.”

This reason made the mountaineering expert’s mouth twitch slightly. Seeing Li Younan’s sincere expression, they didn’t know what to say for a moment.

The final question from the audience in the livestream: ”Younan, what were you thinking when the avalanche came?”

This was a question everyone in the livestream was concerned about, considering the situation at that time was extremely dangerous, a truly life-or-death moment.

Li Younan thought seriously and then said, ”I didn’t think about anything at that time.”

”Nothing?”

Li Younan replied somewhat helplessly, ”There was no time...”

The host was stunned for a moment, then their eyes filled with admiration. Indeed, though unexpected, the answer was very genuine.

In those circumstances, it was unrealistic to expect someone to think a lot. All reactions were likely instinctive.

Finally, the host earnestly said, ”In any case, congratulations, Younan. Your feat this time will refresh Mount Everest’s climbing history, and once again the world will know your name!”

”Thank you.”

...

Then, Li Younan took out his phone to call a few people who were concerned about him, the first being his mom, of course.

Even though everything was under his control, the live broadcast still involved an avalanche, and his mom would surely be worried, so when making this call, Li Younan felt a bit apprehensive.

The phone was answered, and his mom’s voice was quite calm, showing no sign of unusual concern.

”Mom, have you eaten?”

”Yes, I have, I’m taking a nap now.”

”Oh.”

”What’s up?”

”Nothing really, just missed you a bit.”

”Haha, I miss you too, son, but as long as you’re having fun out there, that’s all that matters.”

”Okay.”

Li Younan hung up the phone, feeling a strange sense of relief. It seemed his mom didn’t know about his Mount Everest challenge, which was good; she wouldn’t have to worry.

What Li Younan didn’t know was that at his home in Sichuan, his cousin Lu Xiaolan asked his mom with confusion, ”Auntie, why didn’t you tell cousin that we’re watching his livestream?”
