Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Looking at the bustling traffic, he began to ponder whether choosing to stay in Chengdu was the right decision.

Just then, the phone rang again, and at this moment, he wished he could just hang up directly. Without even looking, he picked up the phone and clicked to answer: ”Hello boss, any instructions?”

The person on the other end was obviously stunned for a moment before a somewhat unfamiliar voice sounded: ”Are you free now?”

Upon hearing this voice, Lu Zhiqing was taken aback. Although it was a bit strange, that was only because it had been stretched by time to feel distant. Hearing this voice now immediately sparked many memories.

He looked at the caller display on the phone in surprise, finally realizing: ”Li Younan? I, I’m free. Why... why are you calling me?”

Li Younan laughed lightly: ”If you’re free, I’ll come find you, and we can hang out.”

”Alright, alright.”

”Am I disturbing you?”

”Of course not.”

”Alright, then tell me your address and I’ll drive over to find you.”

”Okay, I’m currently at...”

Hanging up the phone, Lu Zhiqing became inexplicably excited.

To be honest, since becoming a medical student and now working in a community hospital, he hadn’t felt this kind of emotion in a long time.

His friends were becoming fewer and fewer, and even his contact with family was diminishing. Among those friends, the one he cherished the most was Li Younan.

Back in high school, he always regarded Li Younan as a target, whether in terms of grades or sports. However, geniuses are never meant to be chased, they are meant to be admired.

No matter how hard he worked, he just couldn’t catch up with Li Younan. Yet in the process of chasing, he inadvertently became the perpetual second place, eventually graduating with an exceptionally high score.

...

Twenty minutes later, Li Younan drove to the address Lu Zhiqing had given him.

Years of not seeing this old high school classmate who was very close to him, Li Younan noticed that this guy seemed noticeably haggard. Although they were of similar age, Lu Zhiqing exuded a more weathered feel.

After getting into the car, Lu Zhiqing looked at the luxury car somewhat wistfully and said: ”So young and already buying such an expensive car, I really admire you.”

He certainly knew that Li Younan had become an online influencer.

Honestly, when he inadvertently stumbled upon Li Younan’s video online before, Lu Zhiqing was initially bewildered, finding it hard to believe the person was his high school classmate.

After all, the disparity between the high school Li Younan and the current million-follower streamer Li Younan was so huge, it was hard for those who used to know him to believe.

Then again, it seemed reasonable... with someone like Li Younan, anything was possible.

Subsequently came a tinge of melancholy; at the time, he felt that Li Younan and he were people from entirely different worlds, and perhaps they wouldn’t intersect in this lifetime.

He didn’t expect Li Younan to take the initiative to call him.

”Have you eaten?”

”Not yet.”

”Then let’s go have some skewers.”

”Uh... okay okay.”

Li Younan casually drove to a nearby skewer shop, ordered the pot and picked out the dishes, and then sat down.

Li Younan began: ”We haven’t seen each other in quite a while.”

Lu Zhiqing relaxed at this moment and nodded: ”Yes, I still remember the scene when we played basketball in our sophomore year.”

”Haha, you remember?”

”Of course, that was the highlight of my life.”

Lu Zhiqing’s lips curved into a smile, his eyes reminiscing about the past.

He received a pass from Li Younan, his mind went blank, only hearing Li Younan shouting ”Shoot quickly,” he bewilderedly threw the ball, which bounced twice on the rim before going in, completing the game-winning shot.

At the time, everyone compared that shot to Jordan passing to Cole for the game-winner, discussing it eagerly.

In the long years thereafter, his life hadn’t had such a highlight again, how could it not make a lasting impression?

”Why did you suddenly think of calling me?”

”Why do you ask?”

”Haha, I was just a little surprised, considering you should be quite busy now.”

Li Younan laughed lightly and said: ”Actually, it’s ok, not really busy.”

This wasn’t merely courteous, it was true, what was he busy with now?

Playing was work, and even to an extreme, even if he stopped making videos at this very moment, it wouldn’t affect his quality of life.

Lu Zhiqing also realized, smiling: ”Yeah, you really shouldn’t be busy.”

”How about you? How are you doing now?”

”Me? I’m pretty good too, now working at a community hospital.”

”Saving lives was your dream back then, congratulations on achieving it!”

”Haha.” Lu Zhiqing merely smiled, but only he knew how much bitterness lay behind that smile.

And just then, his phone rang again, he apologized to Li Younan: ”Sorry, I need to take this call.”

Li Younan nodded.

”What?” Lu Zhiqing frowned, his tone turned somewhat helpless, ”Did you sneak some high salt food? Sigh...”

Li Younan silently watched Lu Zhiqing stand up and step aside to take the call, only after a solid seven or eight minutes did he return.

He placed the phone at the edge of the table and chuckled bitterly: ”A patient, blood pressure suddenly shot up again.”
