Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1539: Chapter 781: Bottleneck

Zhou Yun was stunned.

The news Zhou Lan called to convey left her utterly at a loss.

The film ”Killing Song” had been in talks for quite some time; they had even signed performance agreements with Mélando Company, and preparations had started early.

Why did such rumors suddenly emerge?

Moreover, among Chinese actresses today, no one can compare to Zhou Yun; Zhou Yun has no competition. In this situation, who could Mélando possibly replace her with?

Zhou Yun was silent for two seconds before asking Zhou Lan what the news was all about.

Zhou Lan said, ”It’s said that a big celebrity has taken an interest in the script and told the higher-ups at Mélando they want to act, asking Mélando to change the lead female role to an American.”

”Huh?”

Zhou Lan said, ”In the original work of this movie, the lead female role is a Chinese character, which is why they initially came to China to select an actress. However, in Hollywood, changing a character’s cultural background isn’t uncommon, Hollywood has altered many such roles. What I’ve heard is still a rumor, but I fear this is not groundless, and I’m afraid we might be cut out at the last minute before filming starts.”

The movie ”Killing Song” is exceptionally significant for Zhou Yun.

It is Zhou Yun’s first serious international blockbuster and a major work for establishing her international fame.

Zhou Lan places great importance on this film.

If this opportunity is indeed snatched away, Zhou Yun wouldn’t know when she could encounter another opportunity like this.

There’s absolutely no chance Zhou Lan considered the possibility of Zhou Yun not starring in this film.

No way.

Zhou Lan said, ”I also reached out to Brillanch, dropped some hints, but there was no wind from his side. I couldn’t directly ask him either.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

She hesitated for a moment and asked, ”Sister Lan, who did you hear this news from? Could you ask them for more details?”

Zhou Lan said, ”This news came from Jerold Sanchi. Do you remember him?”

”I... remember. It was when I attended a fashion week event in France and was attacked at the airport; you sought this person’s help to investigate the attacker’s identity, right?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise, ”Isn’t he French? How would he know about this kind of news?”

Jerold Sanchi seemed completely unrelated to the film ”Killing Song”.

Zhou Lan said, ”He mentioned he received a case and heard the news from his client, but as for his client’s identity and how the news originated, he said due to the nature of his work, it must remain confidential and can’t be disclosed to us.”

Zhou Yun was silent.

Zhou Lan continued, ”Jerold Sanchi, although he hasn’t interacted with you much, from my dealings with him, this man seems quite credible. Since he came to tell me, I believe there must be some truth to this news; we can’t just sit idly by.”

”We can’t sit idly by, but our urgent task is to figure out who this actress trying to snatch ’Killing Song’ is.”

Zhou Lan said, ”That’s also why I called you. You have some contacts in the United States, see if you can ask them for help.”

Zhou Yun immediately thought of Elizabeth.

If there’s anyone she knows in the American film circle who might know about this, it would be Elizabeth.

As a young representative in the American film circle, Elizabeth knows a lot of people in Hollywood and has wide access to information.

If this matter is true, Elizabeth ought to be able to pick up some news.

Zhou Yun said, ”I’ll try to reach out.”

Once Zhou Yun said this, Zhou Lan hung up the phone.

After the call ended, Zhou Yun was caught in hesitation.

She didn’t know how to talk to Elizabeth about this.

If she had a truly good relationship with Elizabeth, it would be one thing, but most of the time, it was Elizabeth showing enthusiasm in building a connection with her.

Even Zhou Yun herself wasn’t sure why Elizabeth favored her so much.

Zhou Yun also didn’t know if Elizabeth would be willing to help after she reached out to her.

Zhou Yun hesitated for a long, long time before finally sending Elizabeth an email.
