Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1502: Chapter 677: Visiting the Set

As she stepped off the car in her lambskin high heels, her foot landed on the uneven ground, and her eyebrows instantly furrowed.

”President Yao, why did you bring me to this rural place?” Yang Xi looked disgusted.

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”Haven’t you always been clamoring to act in Wen Bing’s films? If you don’t get to know him better, how would he consider you for a role?”

Yang Xi sighed and said, ”Oh, President Yao, it’s just a matter of a word from you. Do I still need to get to know him? Everyone knows he listens to you.”

Inwardly, Yao Yuanfeng gave a cold snicker, dismissing Yang Xi’s mindless remark, but he simply smiled and said, ”No matter what, being more acquainted with him would be better for both of you. How could an actor and a director not be familiar with each other and still make a good film?”

If possible, Yao Yuanfeng wouldn’t want to promote someone this mindless either.

However, an actor’s appeal to the audience is unpredictable and uncontrollable.

Yang Xi just has that bit of audience appeal; everyone likes the dramas she acts in, so Yao Yuanfeng has no choice but to continue to support her, giving her the company’s good scripts to perform, and helping her with public relations for some top brands, as well as promotional marketing.

As for her wanting to collaborate with Wen Bing.

If possible, Yao Yuanfeng would certainly be happy to see it happen.

Zhou Yun, after all, is not a contracted artist with New Shield, but Yang Xi is.

If Yang Xi could collaborate with Wen Bing and thereby advance further, the resulting success would also feed back into the company.

Even though New Shield’s main business isn’t artist management, if Yang Xi’s stature in the film industry rises and she’s more recognized by the audience, it will bring positive feedback to the company’s subsequent projects that she stars in. These are all closely linked.

Yao Yuanfeng had previously mentioned Yang Xi to Wen Bing, wanting to introduce them to each other.

Unfortunately, Wen Bing wasn’t very interested in Yang Xi.

After meeting her once, Wen Bing said he didn’t want to work with her.

Yao Yuanfeng couldn’t force Wen Bing to use an actor he didn’t want to work with.

In this regard, Yao Yuanfeng was very respectful of Wen Bing.

He would recommend some actors he wanted to work with to Wen Bing, but if Wen Bing was truly unwilling to collaborate, he wouldn’t press the issue.

Yao Yuanfeng still hoped Yang Xi could win Wen Bing over with her own abilities.

However, Wen Bing seemed to lose some of his smile upon seeing Yang Xi.

”What brings you here as well?”

Yang Xi, carrying two bags and smiling affectionately, said, ”I heard President Yao comes to visit the set, so I came along. It’s quite a remote area here; surely you won’t eat well, right? I brought some ham for you—if you’re not used to the local food, try this instead!”

Wen Bing and Zhou Yun: ”...”

Inwardly, Yao Yuanfeng thought to himself that perhaps he should emphasize to Yang Xi’s agent, one more time after returning, that with Yang Xi’s intellect, she should attend fewer variety programs and focus more on filming with the crew; she’s not cut out for it.

Wen Bing put on a forced smile and said, ”It’s not too bad; it’s just a bit far from the city, but it’s a beautiful place with mountains and rivers. It’s not exactly a remote area that you are worrying about.”

Yang Xi chuckled and said, ”Surely, it won’t be as good as usual cuisine, though. I specially ordered this ham from abroad, so give it a try.”

”Alright, alright, let’s not dwell on the ham now.” Yao Yuanfeng already regretted bringing Yang Xi along; he turned to Wen Bing and asked, ”How’s the preparation going? When are you planning to officially start filming?”

Wen Bing said, ”Three days from now.”

”Let me share some good news: the global distribution rights for ’Female Assassin’ have been sold to Paimon, and the film will be released simultaneously in dozens of countries worldwide next year.”

This news brought pleasant surprise to both Zhou Yun and Wen Bing.

”That’s really great.”

”Indeed,” Yao Yuanfeng was very pleased, ”It’s also New Shield’s first film to premiere simultaneously in dozens of countries worldwide.”

Zhou Yun said, ”President Yao, that’s quite a significant move, impressive.”

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”It’s also thanks to having an international star like you as the lead; when Paimon heard you were starring, they became interested in our film.”

Zhou Yun smiled.

She had a few films distributed by Paimon before, and they did quite well in the United States, so it’s no wonder Paimon is interested in her new film.

What Yao Yuanfeng didn’t say was that Zhou Yun would receive a share of the international box office revenue for ’Female Assassin,’ so her participation would also mean a larger share for her.

Yao Yuanfeng accompanied them to see the refurbished house, where Wen Bing gave him a brief introduction to what he wanted to achieve with the film.
