Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1512: Chapter 679: Apology

It seems that the little girl rolling around on the ground is Li Qimiao.

Zhou Yun glanced at them, not in a hurry to enter the house.

She wanted to see if Li Qimiao would say something under her mother’s questioning.

But Li Qimiao just clung to her mother’s leg and cried, saying only that she didn’t want to go to school, and refused to say anything else.

Her mother, enraged, slapped her twice.

Li Qimiao cried her eyes out.

Zhou Yun thought for a moment, realizing that visiting now might not bode well.

The key question was, what did she want to achieve?

Zhou Yun pondered her motivations.

She wanted to see Li Qimiao’s attitude.

If Li Qimiao stubbornly refused to admit or had malicious intent, Zhou Yun wouldn’t hesitate to tell Xiuxiu’s mother immediately.

Such matters should be known by the adults.

But if Li Qimiao just accidentally pushed Xiuxiu, causing her to fall into the fish pond, Zhou Yun truly didn’t know what to do.

Zhou Yun thought she might encourage Xiuxiu to speak out about the incident herself.

Her telling it versus Xiuxiu sharing it would have entirely different effects, possibly resulting in two distinct consequences.

As Zhou Yun was dazed, sitting on a stone next to Li Qimiao’s house, she suddenly noticed Li Qimiao running out of the house.

Zhou Yun was taken aback.

Looking again at Li Qimiao’s figure, sneaky and clearly secretly escaping from her family.

She raced in the direction of Xiuxiu’s house.

Zhou Yun frowned in confusion and stood up.

The child ran swiftly, and Zhou Yun never thought she could keep up.

Luckily, in the countryside, the views are open, and even as Li Qimiao ran far off, Zhou Yun could still see her.

Zhou Yun slowly walked over.

Along the way, she bumped into Yi Zhe, who was photographing landscapes.

”Are you taking a walk here?” Yi Zhe asked.

Zhou Yun: ”And you?”

”Taking some shots,” Yi Zhe said, ”Anyway, I’ve got nothing else to do.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

”Want some professional shots?”

”Not interested, I’ll continue walking, bye.” She replied.

When Zhou Yun returned to Xiuxiu’s house, she saw Li Qimiao hiding nearby.

Not exactly hiding, just tucked away, cautiously peering at Xiuxiu’s house.

Zhou Yun was more perplexed seeing this.

She had no idea what Li Qimiao intended to do.

Zhou Yun felt she was idling, following this child back and forth all morning without rest.

And Li Qimiao continued crouching by Xiuxiu’s wall, not making any move.

After waiting for half an hour, Zhou Yun realized that this couldn’t continue; who knew how long Li Qimiao would stay there? She couldn’t waste time like this.

Thus, Zhou Yun acted as if she’d just returned from elsewhere, pretending to notice her suddenly.

”Hey, are you here to see Xiuxiu?” she spoke up.

Li Qimiao’s body shook, seemingly frightened.

Looking up, Li Qimiao saw Zhou Yun, her mouth opened, showing a surprised expression.

”Zhou, Zhou Yun!”

Li Qimiao’s eyes were filled with shock and wonder.

A celebrity.

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”Are you Xiuxiu’s classmate?”

Li Qimiao hesitated and nodded.

”She’s in school. Didn’t you go to school?” Zhou Yun asked.

Li Qimiao hesitated, saying, ”I didn’t go today, but... is Xiuxiu okay?”

Zhou Yun: ”Hmm?”

Li Qimiao’s face already showed guilt, ”Is she... did she catch a cold?”

Watching the girl’s expression, Zhou Yun felt slightly relieved.

At least the girl knew she had done something wrong.

Zhou Yun feared encountering a child who didn’t grasp the seriousness of their actions.

It’s impossible to reason with them since they haven’t formed a complete value system and don’t thoroughly understand many things.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Cold? Why do you think she caught a cold?”

Li Qimiao lowered her head, biting her lip, but didn’t speak.

Unwilling to answer?

Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve been staying at Xiuxiu’s house these days; yesterday afternoon, I saw her all wet. Fortunately, her mom made ginger soup, a bowl to ward off the cold, and she didn’t catch a cold. Do you know why she was soaking wet yesterday?”

Zhou Yun subtly hinted at the incident, indicating to Li Qimiao that she wasn’t oblivious to the situation.

She hoped Li Qimiao would reveal the truth herself.

Li Qimiao twisted her hands together, lowering her head, saying, ”Xiuxiu... she fell into the fish pond.”

”Ah?”

Zhou Yun crouched down, focusing on Li Qimiao’s eyes, asking, ”What happened?”

Li Qimiao’s eyes reddened.

”I accidentally pushed her,” Li Qimiao’s tears fell, ”I’m sorry, it was my fault.”

Zhou Yun took a long breath.

It was truly an accident.

Li Qimiao said, ”We argued, and I accidentally pushed her, then I wanted to find someone to help, but couldn’t. Later, I saw someone saving her...”

Zhou Yun silently watched Li Qimiao.

Li Qimiao sniffled for a long while.

”So, what did you come for today?” Zhou Yun asked, ”To see if Xiuxiu was okay?”

”Yes.” Li Qimiao nodded, ”I was scared yesterday.”

Zhou Yun sighed, ”Are you usually good friends with Xiuxiu?”

”Yes.” Li Qimiao nodded, ”We’re very close friends.”

”Then you need to tell Xiuxiu what you just said, face to face, understand?” Zhou Yun said, ”Also, you mustn’t be so careless next time. Had someone not been there to save Xiuxiu, do you know what the consequences could have been?”

Li Qimiao thought nervously, her face suddenly turning pale.

Zhou Yun patted Li Qimiao’s head.

”Luckily Xiuxiu is fine this time, learn from this mistake. No matter how angry or how big the argument, never resort to physical actions, understand?” Zhou Yun advised.

Li Qimiao nodded.

”Then I’ll... go to school now.” She said.

Zhou Yun nodded.

She watched Li Qimiao leave.

After watching her leave, Zhou Yun’s heart was still overshadowed by unease. She wasn’t sure why but felt that while every word Li Qimiao said seemed right, something didn’t sit right.

This was the attitude she hoped to see from Li Qimiao.

However, her feelings diverged from her expectations.

She had an intuitive sense, a dangerous intuition.

She intuitively felt that Li Qimiao acknowledged her mistake, specifically coming to admit it.

The critical question was, is Li Qimiao sincere?

Zhou Yun remained silent, waiting until dusk when the sun sets and Xiuxiu returned home.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Xiuxiu, did Li Qimiao come to see you today?”

Xiuxiu nodded, ”She came to apologize.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Did you accept her apology?”

Xiuxiu shook her head.

Zhou Yun was stunned.

Based on her understanding of Xiuxiu, she’s a very kind girl who should accept Li Qimiao’s apology, so why...?

At that moment, Xiuxiu lifted her head, saying to her, ”Because I feel like she wasn’t truly sincere in her apology.”
