Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1644: Chapter 1644: Wishing for chaos in the world

On the second day, Bai Ruozhu received an edict from the Empress Dowager, summoning her to the Cining Palace to treat Princess Fule.

Bai Ruozhu thought about Tang Feng saying that Princess Fule took a sword for him and also considered that Tang Feng had hurt her feelings, potentially worsening her injuries.

She dared to go to the Cining Palace and saw that Princess Fule’s complexion was even worse than the previous day. She immediately diagnosed her pulse, treated her wound, and prescribed a formula, instructing Tian Fang to get the medicine from the Imperial Medical Hospital.

Princess Fule continuously observed Bai Ruozhu with curiosity. She had heard that there was a female divine doctor in Danliang Country, who was also a female scholar. Unexpectedly, it was the young and beautiful woman before her.

On the way, she had asked Tang Feng about it. In truth, she wasn’t particularly interested in the divine doctor’s affairs; she just wanted a topic to talk about with Tang Feng. Unexpectedly, Tang Feng looked at her cautiously and asked, ”How do you know about this? Why are you asking about her?”

At that moment, her heart tightened, thinking that Tang Feng and the divine doctor had an unusual relationship, which saddened her.

In the past two days, she discreetly inquired and learned that the divine doctor was named Bai Ruozhu, who was already married to someone rumored to be the most handsome man in the Capital City, though a bit too aloof.

Only then did she feel relieved, secretly blaming herself for overthinking.

But this did not lessen her curiosity about Bai Ruozhu; it only increased it. Moreover, she hadn’t told Tang Feng that she learned these things from her sixth brother, who was now their enemy and whom she could no longer mention.

Her sixth brother was none other than Zhou Jue.

Bai Ruozhu noticed Princess Fule’s gaze and couldn’t help but look up at her. Princess Fule felt a bit embarrassed and quickly looked away.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t overthink it, assuming Princess Fule was merely questioning her medical skills due to her young age.

Of course, she wouldn’t be offended with Princess Fule over this. She indeed appeared very young, and without her past life’s exposure to both Chinese and Western medicine and the half-scroll of the mysterious Poison Scripture, she wouldn’t have achieved her current level.

”The princess needs to recuperate well for half a month. After all, the vitality has been harmed, and if you’re not careful, it could leave a chronic illness,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Princess Fule nodded, ”Alright, I will follow Bai Lord’s instructions and recuperate well.”

The Empress Dowager smiled and nodded, ”Princess Fule should have lunch here with me at this critical juncture. It’s inconvenient to hold a banquet in the palace, and I apologize for that. However, what’s the fun in dining with the civil and military officials? I’ll call some young people to accompany you. Once you’ve recovered, let them take you out to have fun so you can relax more.”

”Yes, it’s very thoughtful of the Empress Dowager towards Fule,” Princess Fule said.

The Empress Dowager smiled and invited Diao Yao and Diao Bin over. Soon, Princess Yingtong, Chu Hai, Ning Yu, and others arrived, revealing that the Empress Dowager had already sent an edict to them early on.

Bai Ruozhu looked at the bustling room and suddenly smiled, saying, ”I remember Tang Feng escorted Princess Fule all the way and is more familiar with the princess. He should still be in the palace, right? Empress Dowager, why not invite Tang Feng to join us to welcome Princess Fule?”

The Empress Dowager laughed, ”Alright, Hao Mu, go out and tell Tang Feng to come over.”

Princess Fule’s head lowered slightly, her cheeks turning red, adding a touch of color to her pale face.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled secretly. She was afraid of a lack of chaos in the world. After all, she had noticed Tang Feng had feelings for Princess Fule. Despite having an old flame as an obstacle from a past life, an old flame is an old flame, and Princess Fule is Princess Fule. Even if they look identical, they are not the same person.

She didn’t believe Tang Feng couldn’t resolve his emotional knot.

Previously, Tang Feng even said he had no special affection for anyone and could marry any subordinate, so his attitude toward Princess Fule was indeed different now.

Everyone was here to accompany Princess Fule today, so they all circled around her and started chatting. However, Princess Fule’s gaze kept falling on Diao Yao, which Bai Ruozhu saw and chuckled secretly. Princess Fule had probably heard about the emperor wanting to bestow marriage between Tang Feng and Diao Yao before.

Not long after, Tang Feng was invited over. Upon entering, he saluted the Empress Dowager, then gave Bai Ruozhu a glare. It seemed on the way here he had already found out who conveyed the message. That messenger probably thought Bai Ruozhu meant well, so they ’reported’ Bai Ruozhu’s intentions.

At this point, Princess Fule’s gaze was entirely on Tang Feng. Although she tried to be careful, her eyes couldn’t help but wander over to Tang Feng.

Diao Bin now didn’t care anymore about how others viewed her. However, her completely white hair was still somewhat astounding, so she wore an elaborately crafted pearl hat. She leaned over to Bai Ruozhu and whispered, ”Did you already know that this princess had her eyes on Tang Feng?”

”Hush, don’t bring this up. There are ministers who have advised the emperor to establish a new empress, and she is one of the candidates,” Bai Ruozhu responded in a low voice.

Diao Bin pouted, ”Then I do hope she pairs up with Tang Feng. The emperor has someone in his heart.”

Bai Ruozhu chuckled, knowing the emperor wouldn’t make Consort Liu the empress.

Especially since the empress had just died, he wouldn’t send Consort Le into the storm.

The meal that followed was extremely enjoyable. Danliang Country didn’t have strict rules about not speaking during meals. Diao Bin enthusiastically introduced several Danliang-style dishes to Princess Fule, who maintained a gentle smile on her face, continually nodding, while Tang Feng’s gaze also involuntarily fell on her face.

Bai Ruozhu observed all this with excitement. This banquet was truly interesting, with the pairings of Diao Bin and Ning Yu, Yingtong and Chu Hai, Fule, and Tang Feng. Each pair exuded a pink aura, prompting Bai Ruozhu to secretly sigh: Love is wonderful!

Unexpectedly, a maid announced from outside, saying that Lord Jiang sought an audience.

She couldn’t help but sit up straight, wondering why Yichun was coming over. Did he have urgent matters?

The Empress Dowager laughed, ”Lord Jiang must accompany his wife whenever he has time. Our Ruozhu is quite charming; you all should learn from her to hold your future husbands’ hearts.”

Everyone laughed, and Bai Ruozhu’s face blushed. She said, somewhat embarrassed, ”Empress Dowager, how could you tease people too?”

At this moment, Jiang Yichun strode in, saluting the Empress Dowager, and said, ”This official came abruptly because the family guard reported that the child was sick and kept crying for his mother, so I...”

Bai Ruozhu jumped up immediately, almost knocking over the chair she was sitting on. She rushed forward and asked, ”What’s wrong with Dengdeng? He was perfectly fine during breakfast; what happened?”

”Muyu couldn’t explain clearly, so I urgently came to find you to go back and check,” Jiang Yichun spoke fast, revealing his anxiousness.

It wasn’t that the two were making a fuss over nothing, but that Little Dengdeng had always been healthy and rarely got sick, so why did he suddenly fall ill?

The Empress Dowager hurriedly said, ”Children’s health is of utmost importance. You two should go back quickly and take a look. If there’s anything you need, just send me a message.”
