Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1616: Chapter 1616: Three Princesses, One Drama

Tang Feng didn’t want her to look so serious, and smiled helplessly, saying, ”You know, since we came here, we ought to aim for wealth and prosperity, right?”

Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat. As a transmigrator, she naturally understood the mindset of a fellow transmigrator, especially one with a Golden Finger, who would naturally have ambition.

Moreover, Tang Feng was originally of imperial blood, the biological child of the Former Emperor, so why shouldn’t he compete for the throne?

But the fight for the throne is always built on piles of white bones. She didn’t want herself or her friends to become part of that pile due to knowing Tang Feng.

She wanted to ask more, but saw her second brother looking at them with a strange expression. Her heart tightened, and she swallowed back her words, deciding to ask when it was more convenient.

Tang Feng also had concerns. Seeing she didn’t ask more, he smiled and said, ”You have to keep this a secret for me. I don’t want to reclaim my identity, otherwise everything I have today wouldn’t be from my own efforts.”

”So how will you reasonably explain to the Emperor that you can’t marry Diao Yao? Others might think you’re afraid of Saihan.” Bai Ruozhu sighed.

Bai Zepei, however, said coldly, ”Tell them he dressed as a man to take the Champion exam, so he can’t marry Diao Yao. That way it makes sense.”

Bai Ruozhu burst out laughing, ”Second brother, is this your version of dark humor? He doesn’t look the slightest bit like a woman, that’s too far-fetched.”

”Otherwise, just say he’s a eunuch.” Bai Zepei continued to say coldly.

Tang Feng’s face turned green hearing this, ”Zepei, I haven’t offended you, have I?”

Bai Ruozhu laughed, feeling a bit relieved, ”That’s also a way. Tang Feng, why don’t you make a sacrifice?”

”Get lost, how can you sacrifice in this kind of thing?” Tang Feng shouted, and this time both Bai Ruozhu and Bai Zepei laughed.

Bai Ruozhu ordered another pot of wine, and the three of them ate and drank, temporarily putting the matter behind them. However, they all had things on their minds, so the meal didn’t last long before they went their separate ways.

On the way back, Bai Zepei, riding in the horse carriage, suddenly asked, ”Little sister, what do you think of Tang Feng as a person?”

Bai Ruozhu, not wanting her second brother to misunderstand Tang Feng, thought for a while and said, ”Not bad, at least not a deceitful person.”

Bai Zepei was relieved when his sister’s evaluation was simply ”not a deceitful person,” and then said, ”I think he has a very good impression of you.”

”Second brother, have you misunderstood?” Bai Ruozhu was smart and quickly understood what her second brother meant, but she couldn’t explain it to him clearly.

To Tang Feng, she was special because they were both transmigrators with ideas ahead of the people of this time. So if they weren’t mortal enemies, they would be friends who admired each other.

”His mother is a famous female scholar from Jiangnan, so he greatly admires learned women. His admiration towards me is purely that, not what you think.” Bai Ruozhu had to come up with this explanation.

”That’s good, since you do have a husband.” Bai Zepei reminded.

Bai Ruozhu was sweating, ”Second brother, what are you thinking, really. But it’s best to keep today’s matter a secret, especially regarding Tang Feng’s identity.”

”Not even tell Yichun?” Bai Zepei asked.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a bit and said, ”Better not. If he knows, he’d be conflicted about whether to tell the Emperor. If he doesn’t tell, he’d feel guilty; if he does, we’d feel sorry for Tang Feng.”

”Okay.” Bai Zepei agreed.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t purposely want to keep it from Jiang Yichun, but everyone has their secrets. He knew she wasn’t the original self and that she came from a different place, yet he never probed too deeply. And Tang Feng told Bai Ruozhu his identity and showed her the Space, out of trust for a fellow ”hometown person.” She felt she shouldn’t divulge that trust.

When Jiang Yichun returned from the Palace, he immediately asked about Tang Feng. Bai Ruozhu said, ”My second brother and I asked him, but he didn’t want to say much, just that he didn’t want to marry Diao Yao.”

”He said he’ll handle it himself, so let’s not worry about it.” Bai Zepei also said.

Jiang Yichun could only say, ”The Emperor is very angry about this, so hopefully Tang Feng can handle it well.”

Bai Ruozhu didn’t speak, but in her heart, she felt that with Tang Yin’s acumen and intelligence, he would likely soon suspect Tang Feng’s origins. If he knew Tang Feng was the Former Emperor’s son, how would Tang Yin treat him?

Would he help him regain his identity and let him be a leisurely prince? Or secretly assist him, doing his duty as an elder brother? Or, worried it might threaten his position, send Tang Feng back to Jiangnan early, or eliminate him altogether?

Bai Ruozhu was a bit worried about Tang Feng’s situation but more concerned about Tang Feng’s ambitions. She remembered that Tang Feng already had a faction in the Capital, which clearly wasn’t a short-term arrangement. He might have started preparing several years ago.

”Ruozhu, what are you thinking?” Jiang Yichun noticed Bai Ruozhu was a bit dazed, waving his large hand in front of her eyes.

Bai Ruozhu snapped back to reality and quickly said, ”I just can’t figure out why Tang Feng wouldn’t fancy such a good girl like Diao Yao.”

”Everyone has their own preferences, like radishes and cabbage.” Jiang Yichun said.

In the next two days, Tang Feng’s refusal of the marriage in the Court had spread like wildfire throughout the Capital City, with many speculations. Some said Tang Feng preferred beautiful, talented women because he was a talented scholar. They claimed he had a fancy for some courtesan who was both talented and beautiful. Others said Tang Feng was just a coward, afraid of Saihan’s retaliation, hence he didn’t dare to marry Diao Yao. Still, others said Diao Yao was a foreigner from the Western Regions, and naturally, a talented scholar from Jiangnan like Tang Feng wouldn’t fancy her.

And on the third day, something happened to Tang Feng.

After the court session, while he was returning home by horse carriage, the carriage was overturned by someone. His coachman was thrown off, and he stumbled inside the carriage, nearly hitting his head.

”Tang Feng, get out here, stop being such a cowardly turtle!” shouted a domineering female voice outside.

Tang Feng rubbed his temples, and from her accent, it seemed to be that princess from the Western Regions.

Indeed, standing beside the horse carriage were three people. Taking the lead with hands on hips in a bandit-like demeanor was Princess Yingtong, while beside her was a little girl with tremendous strength capable of flipping the carriage, naturally Diao Yao.

Standing in the back was a veiled Princess Diao Bin, face hidden by a gauze cap.

The three had become good friends, and since Yingtong liked Chu Hai, she naturally got closer to Diao Yao. After Tang Feng refused the marriage and everyone in the Capital City gossiped about it, Yingtong was the first to be upset, immediately proposing they teach Tang Feng a lesson. If not for him, how would Diao Yao be the subject of gossip?

Thus, with Yingtong’s naturally headstrong nature, pulling along the mighty little girl and with Diao Bin worrying they might get into trouble and reluctantly joining them, formed this peculiar group.
