Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1634: Chapter 1634: Ruolan Hurts Someone

At this moment, someone nearby called out, ”I called Xiu Liu here on the road, I can prove it. Xiu Liu indeed misses his wife terribly, but he wouldn’t do harmful things, young lady, if you follow Xiu Liu, you won’t be mistreated.”

But there was a woman who snorted coldly, saying, ”That young lady is a noble official’s daughter, how could she marry Xiu Liu, that old widower? Not to mention anything else, his appearance doesn’t match the young lady.”

Hearing this, Xiu Liu became annoyed and started yelling at the speaking woman, even looking as if he was about to start a fight. It’s clear from the look that he doesn’t have a good temper usually.

The two sides started quarreling, and the scene became chaotic. The speaking woman was Xiu Liu’s neighbor, and Xiu Liu had been caught spying on her bathing, rumored to be driven mad by his desire for women.

The onlookers increasingly felt that Xiu Liu was not a good person, while He Lianlian was crying sorrowfully, arousing sympathy from many.

”Miss, you should hurry and leave, don’t be reckless, you can’t marry someone like him. And don’t think about that married man either, in our Danliang Country, we don’t worry too much about such things. Helping someone once doesn’t mean you have to spend your whole life on it,” a woman who once assisted He Lianlian advised her.

”Big sister, thank you, but it’s them spreading rumors about me in my hometown. If I don’t marry that man, the clan won’t tolerate me,” He Lianlian said, crying even harder.

Bai Ruozhu listening on the side, curled her lip. She indeed spread the news, otherwise He Lianlian would’ve come seeking Jiang Yichun today. Why should she be soft-hearted towards a woman who covets her man?

The woman sighed, ”Alright young lady, you better hurry and leave, don’t get involved with someone like Xiu Liu, or you’ll end up the one suffering.”

He Lianlian turned her head to glare at Bai Ruozhu, looking furious, ”Bai Ruozhu, I will remember everything you’ve done to me; a person like you is bound to get retribution sooner or later!”

Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”Whether I’ll get retribution, I don’t know, but isn’t your unjust behavior already getting retribution?”

The woman advising He Lianlian frowned and said, ”Madam, one should be forgiving when possible. This young lady has suffered such a big loss alone; show some compassion and stop targeting her.”

Lin Ping’er, upon hearing this, was displeased, ”Do you know the whole story? What do you mean ’be forgiving’? If we were ruthless, we would’ve sent her to the government office for punishment long ago.”

He Lianlian cried and walked out, Xiu Liu still chasing after her. In panic, she twisted her ankle, fell to the ground, and her palm got scratched, bleeding a little.

Now many really perceived He Lianlian as truly pitiable; some even took the initiative to block Xiu Liu, and He Lianlian finally limped away, looking very forlorn from behind.

At this moment, many felt sympathetic towards the weak, and seeing the Bai Family mother and daughter dressed in opulence on the steps, their hearts were more inclined towards the pitiable He Family young lady, some even whispered that the Bai Family was too domineering.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t bother explaining and took her mother back to the residence; she had to arrange a funeral for Lamei, feeling troubled.

As soon as they returned to the main courtyard, a servant reported, ”Madam, First Miss, Lady Ruolan refuses to leave her yard; whenever we approach, she screams and hits people, even scratching a maid’s face.”

Lin Ping’er’s eyes turned red upon hearing this, her voice choked slightly, ”Poor child, she must be unwilling to part with Lamei.”

She regretted saying this, knowing Lamei’s death left Bai Ruozhu deeply upset.

”Let’s go and see, Ruolan needs time to adjust.” Bai Ruozhu said and quickly walked out.

Lin Ping’er hurriedly followed.

Just as they approached Bai Ruolan’s yard, they heard heart-rending cries; the calls were so sad they affected anyone listening, even though Bai Ruolan understood nothing, her screams expressed her pain and anger.

Bai Ruozhu quickened her pace, fearing the panicking servants might accidentally hurt Bai Ruolan.

Upon entering the yard, they saw Bai Ruolan frantically hitting people, while several servants were too scared, constantly evading. The eldest sister managed the rules well, and though frightened, the Bai Family servants didn’t dare strike back.

Bai Ruozhu quickly went over, grabbed Bai Ruolan’s hand, restraining her movements.

”Ruolan, don’t be afraid, it’s Ruozhu, I’ll take you home.” Bai Ruozhu softened her voice, as if coaxing a child to sleep.

Yet Bai Ruolan kept struggling and screaming, abruptly glaring at Bai Ruozhu, her eyes scaring Bai Ruozhu.

Those were bloodshot eyes, full of anger and hatred, her gaze seemed to wish she could devour her.

Bai Ruozhu instinctively let go, not expecting Lamei’s death to cause Bai Ruolan such hatred towards everything around, unsure how Ruolan might improve.

In this moment of daze, Bai Ruolan’s freed hand clawed towards Bai Ruozhu’s face.

Earlier fearing Ruolan’s panic, Bai Ruozhu hadn’t allowed any guards into the yard, hence she was careless.

”Ruozhu!” Lin Ping’er, standing nearest, rushed over and pushed Bai Ruozhu, then moaned in pain.

Returning to her senses, Bai Ruozhu saw her mother’s face and neck had two deep scratches.

Her eyes instantly reddened; it was all her fault for being so unmindful!

She grabbed the crazed Ruolan, raising her hand to strike, but Lin Ping’er urgently cried behind, ”Stop, Ruozhu, she’s already sick, knowing nothing, it’s not her fault, don’t hit her.”

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath, suppressed her anger, raised her hand, and pressed Ruolan’s sleeping acupoint; Ruolan’s hysterical screams abruptly ceased, finally restoring peace to the yard.

”Take Lady Ruolan to rest in the side room,” Bai Ruozhu sighed and said.

”Not taking her back to that other yard?” Lin Ping’er asked quickly.

Bai Ruozhu led her mother, ”Mom, let’s go inside so I can apply some medicine; these scratches require care.”

”Oh, alright, it’s just a minor injury,” Lin Ping’er squeezed out a gentle smile, but her expression was still stiff, plainly in pain.

After entering the room, while applying medicine to her mother, Bai Ruozhu said, ”Mom, we won’t move Ruolan for now; I fear she might not adapt to a new environment, causing greater distress. Plus, I worry she might suddenly have a fit and injure you and Dad.”

”We’re fine, aren’t there plenty of servants in the yard?” Lin Ping’er promptly said.

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, ”You don’t know how strong Ruolan was when she was crazed; it’s safer not to relocate her for now, I’ll arrange for maids skilled in martial arts to watch over her.”

Thinking about the previous scene, Lin Ping’er felt a lingering fear in her heart and nodded in agreement with her daughter’s plan.
