Chapter 1611: Chapter 1611: Hand Over to the Department of Precautionary Punishment

”Punished for what? I’m also the Deputy of the Female Physicians Institution. Bai Ruozhu, don’t be too arrogant! Just because your husband supports you, doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. The Imperial Palace isn’t your home where everything goes your way!” Hao Baishuang shouted.

”Everyone has seen it now. It was you spreading rumors in the Palace to malign me, even tarnishing the reputation of the Female Physicians Institution. This has nothing to do with whether I’m leaning on the support of my husband or not, right? It seems you were just taunting my husband, trying to drive a wedge between us.” Bai Ruozhu said.

Hao Baishuang snorted coldly, ”I’m just stating the facts. It’s not like there aren’t any witnesses. If you haven’t done anything, why would you be afraid of what people say? It’s your guilty conscience, isn’t it?”

”It’s not a question of fear right now. Your behavior has already violated Palace rules. Someone should inform the Department of Precautionary Punishment and see how Lord Liu deals with it.” Bai Ruozhu chuckled, ”Moreover, you are a person without even a rank, being so disrespectful towards us—isn’t that insubordination?”

Over there, Tian Fang immediately said excitedly, ”Lord Bai, I’ll go report to the Department of Precautionary Punishment.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Go quickly and come back soon.”

”You—you dare!” Hao Baishuang fumed and tried to stop Tian Fang, but Tian Fang was quite nimble, swiftly circumvented her, and then dashed away.

Bai Ruozhu then looked at Jiang Yichun with a smile, ”Achun, we’ll have to delay for a while before we can leave. We need to see how Lord Liu handles this situation.”

Jiang Yichun nodded, ”No problem, I also want to wait for the outcome.”

At this moment, Hao Baishuang began to worry. She wasn’t entirely clear about the Palace rules, but seeing Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun so confident, and everyone else avoiding her, especially those who listened to her and helped spread the rumors hiding away, she realized Bai Ruozhu might not be just threatening her.

She started to panic and hurriedly tried to seek help from Liu Fei, only for Bai Ruozhu to block her way as soon as she moved.

”Why? Deputy Hao, trying to escape? You’ve violated Palace rules and committed insubordination. Can’t just let you escape. If you believe you’re justified and I’m falsely accusing you, just wait honestly for the officials from the Department of Precautionary Punishment to clarify everything.” Bai Ruozhu’s tone carried a mocking flavor, as Hao Baishuang was truly out of her league trying to compete with her.

”What, are you going to imprison me now?” Hao Baishuang was so angry she tried to push Bai Ruozhu, but Bai Ruozhu, being skilled in Martial Arts, wasn’t someone she could lay a hand on. Bai Ruozhu effortlessly deflected Hao Baishuang and then turned to the crowd, ”As you can see, Deputy Hao has also tried to attack me.”

The female physicians all said in unison, ”We all saw it and can testify!”

Hao Baishuang was so furious her lips trembled, pointing at the female physicians, ”You all are just like lapdogs trying to please Bai Ruozhu, bringing such disgrace and shame, unworthy of being female physicians!”

Jinyu laughed with disdain, ”And do you think you’re worthy? At least we have medical ethics!”

”We respect Lord Bai, but we’ll never look up to you because you’re unworthy to be the Deputy of the Female Physicians Institution. You know very well how you got that position!” Wei Tianzhen said loudly.

Others also started condemning Hao Baishuang, instantly turning the scene into a public denouncement of her. Even if she had a strong spirit, she couldn’t hold up under such circumstances.

At this moment, Lord Liu from the Department of Precautionary Punishment hurried in. It seemed Tian Fang had already briefed him on the situation along the way. Lord Liu ordered people to keep an eye on Hao Baishuang and then courteously bowed to Bai Ruozhu, saying, ”Lord Bai, sorry for the grievance. This official will investigate the matter as soon as possible to give you an explanation.”

Lord Liu from the Department of Precautionary Punishment actually also held a fourth-rank position, but because Bai Ruozhu held an honorary title of the third-rank, he still humbly referred to himself as ”this official” in front of her, showing he was a discerning person.

”Thank you, Lord Liu,” Bai Ruozhu returned the courtesy.

Lord Liu then bowed to Jiang Yichun and arranged for people to inquire and record the information. The Department of Precautionary Punishment had its own set of regulations, so they quickly found out the results and took Hao Baishuang away.

While being led away, Hao Baishuang was still unwilling, shouting to Bai Ruozhu, ”Don’t be too complacent. I’ll find someone to prove what I said is true. Just wait till everyone sees what a slut you are!”

With a slap sound, Jiang Yichun swung a sleeve across Hao Baishuang’s face. Even acting felt dirty, so he used his sleeve enhanced with inner strength to throw the strike. Although not slapped with a hand, it still made a crisp sound with a motion of cloth flapping.

Hao Baishuang’s face swelled on one side from the hit, and Lord Liu glared at his subordinates, ”What are you standing around for? Quickly gag her to prevent her from spewing filthy words!”

The subordinates hurriedly gagged Hao Baishuang, crudely stuffing a cloth into her mouth even though her face was swollen, tearing her lip in the process. Moreover, her mouth was filled with a bitter-sweet taste, and the cloth had a salty unpleasant smell.

Originally being a bit of a clean freak, now raged and in a panic, she grew nauseated and fainted on the spot from the distress.

The two people supporting her dragged her away, her leg bumping into the threshold, and no one cared about her wellbeing.

”Serves her right; once she enters the Department of Precautionary Punishment, she’ll learn a hard lesson,” Tian Fang said excitedly.

Bai Ruozhu waved to everyone, ”It’s all over, go back to whatever you were busy with. I’ll head home first.”

Everyone smiled, bowed, and left her.

Jiang Yichun took her arm to walk out of the palace, and she covertly observed him. Seeing his profile wasn’t as stern as she imagined, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

”You’re quite popular, aren’t you?” Jiang Yichun remarked, then threw her a seductive wink, ”So, am I especially handsome today to you, my dear wife?”

Bai Ruozhu was choked by his words, coughed awkwardly a few times before saying, ”Yeah, the female physicians at our institution were all staring, probably set a standard for their future husbands, aiming to find someone like Lord Jiang.”

Jiang Yichun’s lips curled up, ”Then they might have trouble getting married.”

”Tch, you’re so smug.” Bai Ruozhu gave him a big eye roll.

”Your husband is naturally one of a kind, finding someone like me is tough, just the fact that I don’t take concubines, how many men in Danliang Country can achieve that?” Jiang Yichun started to brag again.

”Why? Are you itching for concubines? Is this a hint?” Bai Ruozhu secretly pinched his waist.

Jiang Yichun didn’t dodge, smiled and said, ”How dare I? Besides, having just you is already tiring enough, where do I have the energy to find anyone else?”

He put a special emphasis on the word ”tired,” and no matter how Bai Ruozhu heard it, she felt there was some hidden meaning, which reminded her of matters between husband and wife, causing her face to flush.
