The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Should we ask that person to make a move?_1

In the Miller Family Villa, the atmosphere was heavy.

Beckham Miller, the Miller Family’s talented cultivator, had returned after many years away. Yet, he hadn’t even entered the family door before he was ambushed and killed en route.

Beckham Miller’s body had already been processed by the undertaker and lay quietly in the coffin, his expression peaceful, without any hint of the ferocity from before, and devoid of any bloodstains—looking as if he were merely sleeping.

Knox Miller said with a cold face, ”Xiaojiu is dead, what do we do now?”

Oscar Miller’s expression was uneasy, and he remained silent.

He had always admired his Uncle Nine, thinking that he was daring and decisive, acting on his beliefs regardless of right or wrong. He was very much looking forward to his return, expecting him to silently take care of Carson Flores, then slowly torment him. He would stand by, watching as Carson Flores suffered a fate worse than death, erasing the hatred in his heart.

But now Beckham Miller was dead, killed by Carson Flores’s hand.

The Miller Family had just made an assassination attempt on Carson Flores, and Carson Flores immediately retaliated. The difference was that the Miller Family’s attempt had failed, while Carson Flores succeeded.

Carson Flores didn’t lose a single hair, while the Miller Family had lost a Grandmaster—and not just any Grandmaster, but a covert operative hidden abroad, a Grandmaster assassin with tremendous deterrence power.

Peter Miller said with a stern face, ”I just want to know, how did Carson Flores learn of Xiaojiu’s whereabouts?”

Knox Miller answered, ”When Xiaojiu returned, he used his own passport to book the flight ticket. Anyone who can access the aviation system can find Xiaojiu’s flight information.”

Peter Miller said coldly, ”Xiaojiu claimed to be dead to the outside world years ago, very few knew he was abroad. With so many years passed by, how could Carson Flores know now, and why would he check?”

Thiago Miller furrowed his brows, ”Could it indeed be that someone within the Miller Family didn’t want to see Xiaojiu return and informed Carson Flores, using him to eliminate Xiaojiu?”

Upon hearing this, the members of the Miller Family exchanged subtle looks. After all, they were all too aware of the circumstances under which Beckham Miller was driven out of the family and abroad years ago.

If it weren’t for Beckham Miller crippling that person back then, it was uncertain whether Knox Miller could have taken the position of the Family Head at all.

Noticing the nuanced glances from everyone, Knox Miller categorically denied it, ”Carson Flores said this in front of Dior Butler, but he didn’t harm Dior Butler. Clearly, it’s a deliberate frame, meant to sow internal suspicions within us. Only a few of us are aware of the decision to call Xiaojiu back, it’s impossible that anyone leaked it to Carson Flores.”

Someone asked, ”Then how could Carson Flores suddenly check Xiaojiu’s itinerary?”

Knox Miller was silent for two seconds, ”Few knew of Xiaojiu’s departure abroad, but it wasn’t completely unknown. If Carson Flores wanted to deal with us, he clearly couldn’t do it alone; he must look for help...”

Peter Miller raised an eyebrow, ”The Fitzgerald Family?”

Knox Miller nodded, ”The Fitzgerald Family knows about Xiaojiu as well; after all, they are our sworn enemies and have always been watching us closely. They are very knowledgeable about our affairs. If Carson Flores sought out the Fitzgerald Family, then it’s entirely possible they informed him about Xiaojiu.”

Peter Miller fell silent for two seconds before speaking, ”Since it’s not one of our own, let’s not stew over this. Think about what to do next.”

Someone angrily said, ”Isn’t he working at the pharmaceutical plant? Let’s gather all the Miller Family’s combat power, surround and kill him right there. I don’t believe he can escape!”

Knox Miller coldly refuted, ”A public assassination, have you considered the repercussions? And even if we could suppress the fallout, could we be certain of success? If we fail, he would surely flee into the shadows and retaliate wildly from there—who could stop him then?”

”Even if we succeed in killing Carson Flores, there is still a Grandmaster by his side. Would she seek revenge? Would his master, Andrew, seek revenge? If they avoid a direct confrontation, how do we kill them?”

Everyone fell silent.

That was the trouble with Grandmasters—you have to kill them on the first attempt, or else you’ll be hard pressed thereafter.

Killing a Grandmaster with a background is all the more difficult. You not only have to overpower them physically but also have the capability to face repercussions from their backing forces.

Andrew is known to all as both a formidable fighter and a madman. Unleashed, he could prove too much for the Miller Family to handle!

Somebody voiced their resentment, ”It’s because our Miller Family doesn’t have a Great Grandmaster. Otherwise, we’d be able to silently take out Carson Flores, make him disappear from this world, and if his manic master dares to come, we’d crush her too!”

A Great Grandmaster?

Peter Miller’s expression turned slightly cold. He had been a Grandmaster for decades, stuck at the peak of his realm, always unable to take that final step. Wasn’t this comment like a slap to his face?

After pondering for a moment, Knox Miller’s gaze fell upon Peter Miller, ”Grandfather, can we ask the Acevedo Family to help? I remember they owe us a favor...”

Peter Miller considered it, ”It should be feasible. The Acevedo Family is powerful and doesn’t fear Andrew.”

Knox Miller’s face lit up with hope, ”Then let’s ask for their help. Otherwise, our Miller Family may suffer even more losses. I even suspect his next targets might be my two uncles and you, grandfather...”

After hesitating for a moment, Peter Miller finally made a decision, ”At the Mid-Autumn Festival ancestral ceremony in two days, we’ll invite him to attend. By making the request in front of the ancestral tablets of the Miller forebears, he should find it hard to refuse.”

Knox Miller’s eyes shone with excitement, ”Good, I’ll make the arrangements.”

Peter Miller cautioned, ”Keep it discreet, don’t alarm anyone, and make sure no one knows of his arrival...”
