The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: If you’re lying to me, you’re dead!_1

Kylie Martinez asked anxiously, ”Who are those two people? Mr. Burgess, could you possibly introduce us?”

Aziel Burgess offered a wry smile, ”The masters of the Resuscitation Technique are two: the first is Ali Eaton, the former Sect Master of the premier medical sect Heaven-Born Sect, and the second is the so-called ’eccentric physician’ Cartier Holt. The former has long retired from the world and does not make public appearances, and the latter’s whereabouts are unpredictable—no one knows where he is. Moreover, even if you find him, he may not be willing to treat you.”

Kylan Martinez’s face showed his disappointment. Upon hearing these two names, he knew there was no hope.

Although the Martinez Family was prominent in Seashore City and considered powerful in Tianhai Province, they did not hold much sway on the national stage, let alone compared to the previous Sect Master of the Heaven-Born Sect, a highly respected figure in the entire cultivation world. Many people sought his medical services in vain. What was he in comparison?

Regaining his composure, Kylan Martinez smiled at Aziel Burgess, ”A ten to twenty percent chance is still hope. Let’s give it a try; after all, it’s an improvement from zero, right?”

Aziel Burgess consoled, ”Statistically that’s true, but realistically, it’s all down to luck. If by some chance the luck is there and it succeeds, that’s a hundred percent.”

Kylan Martinez nodded, ”Then I’ll trouble you.”

Aziel Burgess was the best doctor he could invite. Physicians of a higher caliber were simply out of Kylan Martinez’s reach, just as ordinary people are unable to access top-tier specialists when they fall ill and have no chance to seek their care—it was the same principle.

After hearing Aziel Burgess’s diagnostic results, Kylan Martinez subconsciously ignored Carson Flores.

After all, if Aziel Burgess of Bai Liu Sect had said as much, with the Guanyin Needle technique being lost and only two people knowing the Resuscitation Technique, there was no point in asking Carson Flores. It was not likely that Aziel Burgess made a misdiagnosis, and if he were to ask Carson Flores, only to get a hesitant response indicating ignorance, wouldn’t that be even more embarrassing?

Remy Johnston glanced at Carson Flores but said nothing.

His thoughts were similar to Kylan Martinez’s. After all, Aziel Burgess had spoken with authority. It was not that there wasn’t a cure; the important thing was he didn’t know the required technique.

As a medical expert from Bai Liu Sect with five hundred years of medical knowledge, if even Aziel Burgess could only restore ten to twenty percent, it was unlikely that Carson Flores’s acupuncture, no matter how miraculous, could outdo Aziel Burgess’s Fiery Needle technique, let alone the lost techniques like the Guanyin Needle or Resuscitation Technique.

Better to stay silent, to save face.

Just let it pass.

Kylie Martinez was quite disheartened, pouting her lips, her gaze worried as she looked at Kylan Martinez. Her eyes briefly scanned over Carson Flores and noticed his face, calm and confident.

Why do you still have that expression on?

Are you taking pleasure in our misfortune?

Irritated, Kylie Martinez stared at Carson Flores, ”Carson Flores, you claimed your medical skills were excellent, so why aren’t you speaking now?”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Isn’t Mr. Burgess doing a diagnosis? It’s impolite to interrupt.”

Aziel Burgess frowned—something about the remark felt uncomfortable.

Was it a veiled criticism of him, suggesting he put on airs with little ability to back them up, and ultimately could not cure the ailment?

Aziel Burgess spoke indifferently, ”My diagnosis is complete. Next, I’ll prescribe oral medication and a medicinal bath, to be combined with Fiery Needle treatment. You’re now welcome to share your diagnosis, but if it’s the same as mine, there’s no need to speak.”

Aziel Burgess, already displeased at his inability to cure Kylan Martinez, found Carson Flores a convenient outlet for his frustration.

What Aziel Burgess meant was, don’t just pretend and then end up saying your diagnosis is the same as mine, acting as if you are as skilled as I am. Either come up with a different diagnosis, or keep quiet.

Carson Flores understood and chuckled, ”So Mr. Burgess is hoping for something different.”

Aziel Burgess replied calmly, ”Repeating information would simply be a waste of everyone’s time. Besides, I don’t think your acupuncture surpasses my Fiery Needle technique, and in that case, saying the same thing is naturally unnecessary.”

Carson Flores grinned, ”Alright, then I’ll say something different.”

Aziel Burgess scoffed, ”Please do, but if you’re incorrect, I will refute you.”

Carson Flores smiled faintly, ”I welcome the challenge.”

Without wasting more words, Aziel Burgess made an inviting gesture and then settled back onto the sofa, adopting a spectating attitude.

Carson Flores sat next to Kylan Martinez, extended his hand over Kylan’s abdomen, and after examining for a while with his qi, withdrew his hand.

Kylie Martinez looked at Carson Flores with nervous anticipation, ”Well?”

For some reason, compared to Aziel Burgess’s solemn expression, Carson Flores’s calm and confident demeanor gave Kylie Martinez an inexplicable sense of expectation.

She inexplicably hoped to hear something different from Carson Flores’s lips.

Carson Flores smiled gently, ”It can be cured.”

Kylie Martinez’s eyes widened in shock as she gazed at Carson Flores, ”Really? You’re not lying to me, are you? If you’re lying, you’re dead meat!”

Carson Flores smiled slightly, ”It really can be cured. I’m not lying to you.”

A surprised joy appeared on Kylie Martinez’s face; she grabbed Kylan Martinez’s arm excitedly and shouted, ”Brother! He says it can be cured, it can be cured!”

Kylan Martinez’s eyes also held an incredulous surprise, but he remained composed, ”Carson Flores, when you say it can be cured, what exactly do you mean?”

Before Carson Flores could answer, Aziel Burgess sneered from the side, ”Nonsense! That’s as good as saying nothing at all. Did I say it couldn’t be cured just now? Of course, it ’can be cured’ if you know the Guanyin Needle or the Resuscitation Technique, but do you know them?”
