The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Hmph, Trying to Trick Me?_1

Nineteen million five hundred thousand?

Henry White and Harper Miller were both stunned.

A security guard?

He casually pulled out a card with so much money on it, and just as casually staked it as a gambling bet?

A high-stakes game worth twenty million in one go?

Henry White initially looked down on Carson Flores, thinking he was just a brainless brute. White, a business tycoon, might not be able to fight as well, but in life, who relied solely on brawls for survival? It all came down to money, didn’t it?

But when Carson Flores suddenly put down twenty million for a bet, Henry White was utterly confounded.

Though he owned a company and wasn’t poor by any means, being able to take out twenty million, he couldn’t possibly afford such a reckless and extravagant bet.

Was Carson Flores that wealthy?

Was it real or fake?

Henry White looked toward Samantha Tate and, seeing her surprised face, he realized this matter had nothing to do with her.

It made sense, considering Samantha Tate’s affluent background, but where would she get twenty million to gamble?

Meaning, if Carson Flores was telling the truth, the twenty million was all his, and Samantha Tate was clueless about it.

He subconsciously glanced at Harper Miller, only to find that she too was utterly dumbfounded and shocked.

She had just finished mocking Samantha Tate for falling to the level of dating a security guard, making fun of Samantha Tate for not being able to afford a million-dollar bet. And now, this security guard turned around and slapped down twenty million, making a fool out of her.

Harper Miller’s face turned bright red in an instant.

She had always been the one to mock and embarrass others; who dared to make fun of her, to slap her own face?

She was a member of the prestigious Seashore Miller Family!

Although her father was not the Family Head, he was still part of the core branch, with a significant status within the Miller Family. In turn, she was respected everywhere she went.

But that wasn’t even the main issue—the main issue was she couldn’t afford the bet!

She couldn’t bring out twenty million!

Even though she was the only daughter at home, with a generous allowance and a comfortable life, twenty million was not twenty thousand!

Carson Flores looked at Harper Miller’s red face, showing a surprised expression, ”What’s the matter, Miss Miller? Don’t you dare accept the bet? As a member of the Miller Family, you can’t possibly be unable to put down twenty million, can you?”

Harper Miller’s face turned even redder as Carson Flores threw back at her what she had said earlier, doubling it. It was like a direct slap across her face.

Seeing Harper Miller’s expression, Henry White knew she couldn’t produce twenty million and that Carson Flores had ’checkmated’ her. He quickly tried to defuse the situation, ”Come on, it’s just a friendly game. Why bet so much? There’s no need, really no need.”

Carson Flores casually replied, ”Yeah, small bets revitalize the spirits, right? Twenty million isn’t much, just for a bit of fun.”

Henry White’s face stiffened.

Twenty million considered a small bet?

Just for fun?

He didn’t know what to say. Surely, he couldn’t just admit he couldn’t afford the bet. If Carson Flores responded with ”Can’t afford twenty million, and yet you look down on others so haughtily, calling them poor”, wouldn’t that be like getting his face swollen from slaps?

Samantha Tate was visibly excited, her eyes filled with satisfaction.

Show off.

Now that’s what you get for showing off. Why aren’t you showing off now?

Carson Flores never fails to impress me!

So cool!

Seeing Henry White at a loss for words, Carson Flores turned to Harper Miller, ”What do you say, Miss Miller? Bet too high for you? Can’t afford to play? No worries, if you can’t afford it, just say so, and we won’t gamble.”

When Harper Miller heard Carson Flores’s last sentence, a thought crossed her mind. Could it be that he’s simply bluffing about having twenty million on that card?

He must be certain that she couldn’t bring out twenty million, which is why he was making such a claim, trying to deceive her.

How could a security guard possibly have twenty million?

And to gamble twenty million on a game of bowling?

Impossible!

Absolutely impossible!

Harper Miller thought of this and suddenly felt anger rise within her, trying to pull a scam on her.

Almost fooled by you!

Harper Miller sneered, ”Twenty million, oh, sorry, nineteen million five hundred thousand, you make it sound quite believable. But I bet there isn’t even twenty thousand in that card of yours. Trying to scare me, huh? Alright then, let’s make a phone call to check the account, see if there’s that much money in it. As long as there is, I’ll bet with you!”

Carson Flores laughed, ”If I prove there’s that much money, you’ll bet?”

Harper Miller nodded, as if it were the most natural thing to say, ”Exactly. Even in a betting game, we need to verify funds, right? If it’s a small bet, we don’t check because we’re sure the other party can cover it. But twenty million? You’re just a security guard; should I believe it when you say you have it? Even if you’re trying to cheat me, at least come up with a more credible number?”

Upon hearing Harper Miller, Henry White blinked, his expression one of sudden recognition.

Yeah, how could a security guard have twenty million?

He couldn’t believe he got duped as well.

Samantha Tate’s eyes also revealed a tint of unease.

She knew Carson Flores was very capable, but twenty million—could he really come up with that?

The time Carson Flores pretended to be her boyfriend was settled for just tens of thousands of dollars.

Carson Flores scanned the three people, smiling, ”Alright, verification it is. Let’s just verify then.”

Carson Flores took out his mobile phone, dialed the bank, entered his transaction password, checked the balance, and turned on the speaker.

”...current balance: nineteen million five hundred
