The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 271: Chapter 271 Can You Eat Soft Rice Hard_1

She actually got mad!

Carson Flores explained with a laugh. ”I just happened to do Kylan Martinez a favor, so isn’t it time to return the favor, why bother you separately?”

Camille Rhodes snorted. ”You sure do treat me like an outsider.”

Carson Flores laughed. ”I’ve got to maintain my own strong, independent character. That’s what makes a man attractive, isn’t it? If I came to you for help every time I faced a little issue, wouldn’t I become a freeloader? If that were the case, you wouldn’t even want to be friends, let alone like me.”

Camille Rhodes was amused into laughter. ”Keep bragging about yourself. But for someone as capable as you, I can totally tolerate you eating soft rice.”

”You wish!”

Carson Flores joked about it, effectively brushing off the topic half-seriously.

Camille Rhodes clicked her tongue in wonder. ”Not bad, you haven’t been in Seashore for long, and you’ve already made good relations with so many people, the Johnston Family, the Martinez Family...”

Carson Flores smiled. ”That’s the advantage of a good doctor, no matter how powerful your family is, as long as you’re human, you’ll face birth, aging, illness, and death, and you’ll have to turn to a doctor for help. That’s a solid opportunity for networking.”

Curiosity piqued, Camille Rhodes asked, ”Did Kylan Martinez come to you for treatment?”

Of course, Carson Flores wouldn’t expose Kylan Martinez’s secrets, he casually made something up. ”Just some issues with his physical conditioning—some acupuncture, regular adjustments.”

Camille Rhodes asked, ”Nothing serious,right?”

”Nothing serious, a few acupuncture sessions, some medication, and he’ll be fine.”

Bringing the topic full circle, Carson Flores continued with a smile. ”Since you offered to help with this matter, I owe you one. You can make a request of me, and as long as I can do it, I’ll help you. How’s that?”

Camille Rhodes was quite pleased. ”Quite proactive, aren’t you? That works for me.”

Testing the waters, Carson Flores asked, ”How is the Rhodes Family’s relationship with the Miller Family?”

Camille Rhodes replied, ”Average, I guess. No feuds, but also no significant ties. What, you want to take on the Miller Family?”

Carson Flores inquired with a smile. ”How did you get your brother involved with the raw material stuff?”

Camille Rhodes answered with a smile. ”I just told him I was helping out a friend with a little favor, it wasn’t anything serious. A simple phone call from my brother and it was sorted.”

Carson Flores chuckled. ”So your brother actually helped out with this? Why don’t you set up a meal with your brother sometime, so I can thank him?”

Camille Rhodes huffed, ”He doesn’t even know you. He helped because of me. Instead of inviting him, why not invite me for a meal?”

Carson Flores teased her with an easygoing tone. ”I can invite you anytime, but I also need to expand my circle of friends, right? That way, when I run into trouble, I’ll have someone to call on for help.”

Sharp as ever, Camille Rhodes caught on when Carson Flores insisted on inviting her brother for dinner. ”Is there something you need from my brother?”

Carson Flores admitted. ”Yes, partly to thank him, and partly because I’d like to discuss a business cooperation with him.”

Camille Rhodes asked, ”Are you serious?”

”Yes, I’m serious.”

Eager to help, Camille Rhodes agreed. ”All right, I’ll ask him for you. Are you free in the evenings?”

Carson Flores hadn’t made any significant plans recently, so he responded. ”Not tonight, but I’m free after that.”

”Great, I’ll let you know after I’ve asked him.”

During the evening gathering, no one discussed any partnership. It was merely a session of drinking and boasting. Any discussions about cooperation would have to wait until both parties consulted with their families and agreed on a next meeting.

...

The Miller Family.

Oscar Miller hung up the phone with a somewhat solemn expression on his face.

He walked into the living room where his father, Knox Miller, was sitting on the sofa watching TV. Knox glanced at him and asked indifferently, ”What’s the matter?”

Oscar Miller sat down opposite Knox Miller.”I cut off the supply of raw materials for Shirley Miller’s pharmaceutical factory. But I just got a call, Preston Rhodes suddenly stepped in and bought all the materials. If I’m not mistaken, he must have bought them for Shirley Miller, turning around and solving her problem.”

Knox Miller frowned. ”How does Shirley Miller have any connection with Preston Rhodes? Could it be that Preston Rhodes has taken an interest in Shirley Miller?”

Oscar Miller shook his head. ”Shirley Miller has been busy with the pharmaceutical factory lately. She shouldn’t have time to expand her social circle. Besides, they aren’t from the same world. It’s not easy to connect. Preston Rhodes isn’t the type to be swayed by every beauty he sees...”

Knox Miller suggested with a smile. ”Since we don’t know, then why not just call and ask directly? See what they say, and then decide how to proceed.”

Oscar Miller nodded, ”Alright!”

Oscar Miller took out his phone and made a call to Preston Rhodes. After a brief interchange, he hung up.

”He says he doesn’t know Shirley Miller, that it was his sister, Camille Rhodes, who asked him to do a favor for a friend. As for who that friend was, he doesn’t know. He also claimed he was unaware of the Miller Family’s involvement in the matter. Clearly, he’s talking nonsense...”

With a smile, Knox Miller responded. ”He doesn’t want to fall out directly with us, so he has to leave some wiggle room. Now that the Rhodes Family is involved, let’s drop the matter and find another way.”

Oscar Miller pondered. ”It seems that all the problems boil down to Carson Flores. Without his help, Shirley Miller is nothing. If we take out Carson Flores, dealing with Shirley Miller would be a piece of cake.”

Knox Miller nodded. ”I’ve been wanting to remind you. You can bankrupt her factory, but as long as Carson Flores is around, you won’t get her life. That approach was wrong from the start. Now you understand the key point, so go and solve the problem. Think of a way to lure Carson Flores out and set up a trap, end him directly, and be done with it!”
