The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 92: Chapter 92 Is it you who did it?_1

”Director Zhao, this is what happened...”

In the office, Martin Baker nervously reported the entire incident, ”That Golden Sunshine Investment suddenly came calling, signing the contract on the spot, and providing the money right there. I had no chance to stop them.”

Brian James was silent for two seconds, his voice cold and hard, ”You have greatly disappointed me.”

Martin Baker’s heart tightened, and sweat immediately broke out on his forehead, ”Director Zhao, I did everything as you instructed, but Shirley Miller is very cautious. She even brought someone with her to the dinner, and that person is formidable. The four professional bodyguards I hired were knocked down by him in just a few seconds...”

Martin Baker paused, then decided to shift the blame to Carson Flores, ”Director Zhao, I think there’s something wrong with this Carson Flores. He was arranged by Shirley Miller to enter the company’s sales department, and he’s very capable. It only took him a few days to oust the head of the sales team. Shirley Miller went to the dinner, and it was him who accompanied her, and it was him who saved Shirley Miller. Today, when the people from Golden Sunshine Investment came, it was also him who led them in.”

Brian James’s voice rose several degrees, ”Carson Flores?”

Martin Baker continued to shift the blame, ”Yes, that kid is very skilled in fighting. Last week, the head of the sales team encountered him in a bar and tried to pick a fight. Instead, a group of people ended up being beaten by him alone. Later, they called Quick Blade from Black Bamboo, but for some reason, Quick Blade didn’t dare to provoke him and instead beat up the head of the sales team...”

Brian James sneered, ”How convenient. I’ve been busy with many things recently and haven’t had time to trouble him, but he’s come knocking on the door again. Alright, I know what happened. I’ll take care of him.”

Martin Baker was overjoyed. Had he succeeded in shifting the blame?

He had intended to divert Brian James’s attention by throwing Carson Flores into the mix, but he hadn’t expected Brian James to take Carson Flores so seriously.

Martin Baker didn’t know about the scene Carson Flores had caused at Black Bamboo; his blame-shifting was like making a mistake that turned out right by accident.

Martin Baker breathed a sigh of relief and respectfully asked, ”Director Zhao, what should I do now?”

Brian James thought for a moment, ”There’s a corporate environment rectification project going on in the city right now, and it’s being enforced very strictly. I’ll have the inspection team add the Miller Group’s name to the list, creating a panic that the company is going to be rectified and go bankrupt. You cooperate with that, force the shareholders to sell their shares at a low price, and take this chance. I’ll provide the funds, and you’ll come forward to buy up all the shares from the other shareholders, thus achieving control. Then you can rightfully turn the Miller Group into your own one-man show and kick Shirley Miller out of River Miller.”

Martin Baker was thrilled. Although he had a lot of shareholders listening to him now, they were all fence-sitters who would support whoever brought them benefits. But if he could get back their shares, he would truly control the Miller Group and become the sole power!

”Alright, Director Zhao, I will fully cooperate!”

Brian James hung up the phone and pressed the call button on his desk, ”Ask Ah Long to come in.”

The burly bodyguard, Ah Long, pushed the door open, ”Boss, you called for me?”

Brian James said in a deep voice, ”Bring Ah Hu, Ah Bao, and Ah Xiang with you. You’re going to take care of someone.”

Ah Long looked surprised, ”The four of us teaming up for the job? Who is it?”

Brian James answered, ”Carson Flores, the one who killed Drake Bernard.”

Ah Long said dismissively, ”Him? I could take him down by myself, no need for four people.”

Brian James frowned, ”He defeated Quick Blade and killed Iron Fist and Evil Ghost when they teamed up. He’s very strong.”

Ah Long chuckled, ”Quick Blade? Those guys are all talk and no action. Their skills are only good enough to scare ordinary people. In the ranks of us martial artists, they don’t even count as beginners. I can take on the three of them by myself without any issues.”

”Better safe than sorry!”

Brian James didn’t bother with Ah Long’s boasting and ordered directly, ”The four of you go together and make it clean.”

Ah Long had no choice but to agree, ”Alright, boss.”

After Ah Long left, Brian James called his secretary in, ”Get me the phone number of the person in charge of the corporate environment rectification inspection team in the city. On my behalf, invite him for dinner tonight.”

...

Carson Flores was on the couch watching television when the sound of high heels striking the floor echoed.

Shirley Miller was back.

Carson Flores looked up, ”You’re back.”

”Yeah.”

Shirley Miller didn’t head upstairs as she usually did but sat directly opposite Carson Flores, her beautiful and spirited eyes staring straight at him.

”The Golden Sunshine Investment, did you help with that?”

Carson Flores feigned surprise, ”What are you talking about?”

Shirley Miller repeated, ”The money from Golden Sunshine Investment, did you help facilitate that? I’ve never heard my father mention having such a friend, and all these years, there’s been no contact whatsoever...”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Two hundred and fifty million. Do you think I have that kind of clout?”

Shirley Miller pursed her lips, doubting the possibility, but her intuition told her it had something to do with Carson Flores.

Could it really be such a coincidence?

”Just tell me, was it you?”

Carson Flores denied without hesitation, ”It wasn’t me. I arrived late this morning, just in time to meet them at the door. They asked for you, and I told them you were in a senior management meeting. They said it was urgent business regarding a loan, so I quickly led them to the conference room.”

Two shades of bewilderment flashed in Shirley Miller’s eyes. She had contemplated the situation all day. The more she thought about it, the stranger it seemed, and the more she felt Carson Flores was involved.

Now with Carson Flores’s firm denial, Shirley Miller inexplicably felt a bit of disappointment.

Was it really not Carson Flores?

Was she overthinking it?
