The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

68: Chapter 68: Manipulate?_1 68: Chapter 68: Manipulate?_1 “Boss, I’m incompetent; I couldn’t convince Dr.

Flores and Doctor Ward to come back,”

Leonard Reid sat on the sofa, his expression gloomy, holding a phone, “What happened?”

“I called Carson Flores, explained the situation, but Carson hung up on me and turned off his phone.

I called Vincent Ward, and Vincent said he was powerless to help with the child’s illness, so he wouldn’t be coming.

He also said that he only knew Carson through medical expertise and knew nothing else about him.

He considers Carson his mentor, and he can’t interfere with Carson’s decisions.”

Leonard Reid’s eyes flashed with a stern light, “Did you tell Carson about the remuneration?”

“I did.

He said you, boss, are rich and powerful, offering ten million just like that, his tone mocking.

Then he said he was busy fishing and hung up.”

Leonard Reid coldly said, “No one can exist independently of society; everyone has their social connections.

Start with Vincent Ward, investigate!”

After hanging up the phone, Leonard Reid sat on the sofa, his face stern and cold.

He was known as the Real Estate King, with the power to command the clouds and the rain, seemingly omnipotent, but now unable to save his own grandson.

He was keenly aware that his distrust and arrogant attitude last night had filled Carson with disgruntlement.

Being able to be regarded as a mentor by Vincent Ward, the skill involved was undoubtedly significant, and skilled people always carried a sense of pride—hence his daring to refuse himself.

A twinge of regret surged in Leonard Reid’s heart, but his thoughts quickly returned to being resolute and cold.

Everyone has entanglements, everyone has weaknesses.

Leonard Reid refused to believe that he couldn’t get a hold of a young man in his twenties!

Kye Stein soon called, his tone slightly surprised.

“Boss, Vincent Ward said he met Carson because of a medical emergency, helping the Chairman of Hongxiang Group, Blake Simmons.”

Blake Simmons?

Leonard Reid’s face lit up with joy.

He had had quite a few dealings with this man and considered him a friend.

Was this not a connection forming?

Leonard Reid dialed Blake Simmons, “Old Blake, I want to ask you about someone…”

Blake Simmons laughed, “Who is it that has such an honor to have you, Mr.

Reid, personally call and inquire?”

Leonard Reid laughed, “Carson Flores.”

Blake Simmons’ laughter receded, “Mr.

Reid, why are you suddenly inquiring about him?”

Leonard Reid said with a smile, “I have a little matter with him, but I heard he’s quite familiar with you, so I wanted to ask you first.”

Blake Simmons said gravely, “Mr.

Reid, if Mr.

Flores has offended you in any way, I ask that you overlook it for my sake.

If it’s something you really can’t get past, whatever the issue or trouble, come directly at the Simmons Family; my family will take all the responsibility.”

Leonard Reid’s expression shifted subtly.

Blake Simmons, with his status and age, actually referred to Carson as Mr.

Flores?

Without even asking about the matter, he was ready to take everything upon himself, protecting Carson, not even giving Leonard any face?

Leonard Reid’s mind raced, yet his mouth maintained a smile, “Old Blake, why say such things?

I have no feud with Carson, there’s no offense.

I’m asking about him because when I had people inquiring today, I heard he treated an illness for you, so I wanted to ask you about that.”

“Oh, that…”

Blake Simmons’ previously guarded tone suddenly relaxed and he laughed, “Yes, he treated a disease, and not just any, he saved a life—my life—and not just mine but my entire family’s.

He’s the great benefactor of the Simmons Family.

By the way, last night Carson mentioned he was visiting a patient; it wasn’t you, was it?”

Leonard Reid was utterly shocked; he had underestimated Carson.

Understanding the relationship between Carson and Blake Simmons, Leonard Reid immediately revised his prior intentions, offering a wry smile, “The patient isn’t me; it’s my grandson.

The story is a bit complicated, and I’m at fault…”

Leonard Reid recounted last night’s events as well as the current changes in his grandson’s condition, and the refusal he received when his secretary approached Carson, eventually sighing, “Raphael Schneider and Vincent Ward are both renowned doctors of this era.

Raphael made a solemn promise that his acupuncture would cure the disease, and I believed him.

Little did I know the outcome would be like this.

Old Blake, you’re familiar with Carson, could you possibly help me connect with him?

Consider it a favor I owe you.”

Blake Simmons refused, “Old Reid, since Mr.

Flores personally declined, I can’t help you there.

However, his medical skills are rare in this world if he says it’s poisoning, then it must be.

If he’s spoken up, there must be a way to rescue (the patient).”

Leonard Reid, unwilling to give up, asked, “Could you give me some advice then?”

After thinking for a moment, Blake Simmons said, “At the time, my life was hanging by a thread, my son was rude to Doctor Ward and Mr.

Flores.

Mr.

Flores once said something.

He asked, ‘Do you know how to write the word ‘seek’?

Seek medical help—do you understand what it means?’ Mr.

Reid, it’s best to repair the bell by the same hand that hung it; it’s better to rely on oneself than to rely on others.”

Leonard Reid suddenly understood, “Thanks for the advice; I owe you one.”

After hanging up the phone, Leonard Reid’s expression was bitter.

Seek medical advice?

Seek?

He understood what Blake Simmons meant; he had to humble himself.

Leonard Reid wasn’t unaccustomed to seeking help from others, but as his status rose higher and higher, the less often he needed to seek help.

Now, even when dealing with high-ranking officials in the province, he did so as an equal.

Even when he had requests, it was often an exchange of interests rather than asking for help.

But now, he would have to bend his back.

What else could he do?

It was his own grandson!

Not to mention his affection for his grandson, if his son and daughter-in-law found out he had turned away the only savior of his grandson out of pride, wouldn’t they hate him for a lifetime?

Damn it!

He had just sworn to take Carson down, and now he was being slapped in the face so quickly!
