The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 88: Chapter 88 Uncle Gu Apologizes to You_1

”Carson, you’re here.”

When Carson Flores entered the Gilliam family’s home, Emma White greeted him with her usual enthusiasm. She was very satisfied with this prospective son-in-law.

Handsome, a master of medical skills, a man of upright principles, and especially good at fighting, especially MANLY – what woman wouldn’t like a man who could make her feel safe?

The daughter has good taste!

Moreover, even if we don’t bring up the matter of the prospective son-in-law, the mere fact that Carson had used his medical skills to save her father-in-law’s life and his martial arts to rescue her daughter from a pack of wolves was enough for Emma White to feel grateful to him for the rest of her life.

Emma’s warmth was genuine, but Adan Gilliam, sitting next to her, seemed a bit awkward.

He wanted to maintain a certain dignity, but it appeared to be difficult. His daughter had made it clear that Carson hadn’t cared much for him to begin with; the Gilliam family was nothing much in Carson’s eyes, as he had his own abilities and aimed high.

Not to mention, Leonard Reid himself had to speak humbly to Carson, and Carson could dismiss him – Adan couldn’t compare with that.

One could say Carson was poor, but that didn’t warrant looking down on him.

Adan wanted to show affection but also found it hard to lower his pride, especially since Carson had blatantly embarrassed him before by not giving him any face.

Carson, as if nothing had happened, smiled and greeted, ”Uncle Adan, you didn’t go out?”

Adan grunted and shifted a bit to the side, ”Rare day of rest, too lazy to move, take a seat.”

After hesitating, Adan pushed the fruit plate, which was sliced and laid out on the coffee table, towards Carson, ”Have some fruit.”

Carson was somewhat surprised, but promptly smiled and said, ”Sure!”

Carson picked up a toothpick from the side, speared a slice of peach, and popped it into his mouth with ease, showing no sign of discomfort.

Adan let out a sigh of relief, ”Samantha is busy in the shop, she will come back for lunch.”

Carson smiled and said, ”She doesn’t have to come back on purpose. I am free today, so I came to do acupuncture for Old Master Dariel. He’s been recovering well. After today’s session, we won’t need to continue. Another half a month of medication will be enough.”

A smile appeared on Adan’s face, as his father’s restored health was a great relief to him.

Carson sat for a while and then went upstairs to perform acupuncture on Old Master Dariel.

After finishing the acupuncture, Carson was once again warmly invited by Emma White to stay for a meal.

Adan also spoke up, ”Carson, have lunch before you go, let’s chat.”

”Okay!”

Emma went into the kitchen to prepare lunch, while Carson sat down in the living room and started drinking the tea Emma had made for him.

”The issue with Mr. Leonard has been resolved, right?”

Carson smiled, ”He gave me a call. His child is fine now.”

Adan let out a sigh of relief, ”That’s good. I heard that Mr. Leonard left Polgel in a hurry, and I thought something might have happened.”

Carson replied, ”His child’s illness was due to someone using Gu on him. He rushed back to deal with it. He said he would come again after addressing the issue... What, Uncle Adan, you’re still concerned about the business district development?”

A flush came over Adan’s old face as he spoke frankly, ”Ah, don’t think badly of your Uncle Adan for being pragmatic. Although Haitao Real Estate qualifies, we can’t compete with the big developers. I didn’t have any expectations, but after what happened, my desire has flared up again...”

Carson smiled, ”Samantha has spoken to me about it, I understand.”

Adan nodded, ”Samantha mentioned your situation with her. As parents, we shouldn’t interfere with our children’s love lives, but Samantha is my only daughter and she’s never had a hard life. To say she’s been spoiled wouldn’t be an overstatement. So as a father, I naturally hope that she can find a man with better prospects and capabilities, someone who can take care of her for life and ensure she never has to endure hardship.”

Is this a confrontation?

Disdainful of my poor status, preparing to give me the boot?

Well, the good part is I won’t need to use acupuncture on Old Master Dariel anymore, and Samantha and I don’t have to pretend to be lovers any longer. Wouldn’t this be the perfect time to end it all, making everything super smooth?

Carson smiled and said, ”Uncle Adan, actually, my relationship with Samantha isn’t what you think. You don’t have to worry, I...”

Adan swiftly raised his hand, interrupting Carson, ”Carson, don’t get me wrong! I’m not saying I disapprove of you, but rather, I want to apologize to you.”

Carson was taken aback, ”Apologize?”

Adan said, ”You must be well aware that I wasn’t satisfied with you. I thought you had no money, no power, no background, no abilities, and couldn’t provide Samantha with a happy life of luxury. But over time, Uncle must admit, I was wrong about you.”

Misjudged?

Why does the tone suddenly seem to have changed?

Adan looked earnestly at Carson, saying softly, ”I heard about you curing Mr. Leonard’s grandson. Didn’t he give you ten million for the treatment on the spot, which you asked him to donate to children who needed medical treatment but couldn’t afford it?”

Carson nodded, ”Yes, and Mr. Leonard added another ten million of his own, making a total donation of twenty million.”

Adan’s expression was full of admiration, ”When I heard about that, I truly believed what Samantha told me. She said you are a capable person whose ambitions are sky-high. You value many things more than money, and if you really wanted wealth, you could have it at any time...”
