The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

55: Chapter 55 Are you serious?_1 55: Chapter 55 Are you serious?_1 Carson Flores was startled—how did this involve him?

Carson Flores quickly spoke out to refuse, “If your family is going to the dinner, why should I go?

Don’t worry about me!”

Samantha Tate held Carson Flores’s arm tightly and smiled, “You’re my boyfriend, and in the future, you’ll be my husband.

Doesn’t that make us family?”

Carson Flores rolled his eyes.

Isn’t your acting a bit too much?

Husband?

When Adan Gilliam saw this, his brow furrowed again, his expression was dissatisfied, but this time he didn’t say much, simply stating indifferently, “We were given only three invitations, for the three of us in the family.

You can’t expect me to shamelessly ask for an additional one, right?”

Samantha Tate immediately looked deeply disappointed, “Only three?

That’s so stingy.”

Adan Gilliam was speechless, “When others send out invitations, they surely consider the family situation of the invitees.

For a family of three, of course, only three invitations would be sent.

Besides, an invitation from Leonard Reid’s banquet is a symbol of status; many people want one and can’t get it.

You think they’re cabbages or what?”

Samantha Tate pouted, “I know that the banquet is high-class, that’s why I want Carson to attend, to meet some people and expand his network.”

Carson Flores was taken aback.

You can’t be serious?

We should just play along, that’s enough.

And now expanding networks, like there’s a future for us.

You agree, but your sister won’t; your sister agrees, but your dad won’t either…

Adan Gilliam gritted his teeth and said, “Next time, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.”

Carson Flores quickly chimed in, “Right, right, let’s talk about it some other time.

I don’t even like going to these kinds of banquets.

A bunch of rich people vying for attention—I’d feel out of place among them, a poor guy like me.”

Adan Gilliam glanced at Carson Flores, his gaze carrying a hint of something deeper.

So, he’s self-aware?

Knowing he’s just a poor boy, yet aspiring to pick my daughter, this rose?

Does he think he’s worthy?

Adan Gilliam had been preparing to use some tactics to force Carson Flores away from his daughter, but last weekend’s camping trip changed things.

Carson Flores boldly protected his daughter from a pack of wolves, giving Adan Gilliam cause to reconsider his approach.

He still looked down on Carson Flores.

What use is being good at fighting?

Money talks these days!

What one faces in the city aren’t wolves but people; money and power are what earn respect!

You can’t just kill off your enemies like they’re wolves, can you?

Yet, Carson Flores first saved the old man, then saved the daughter, and these favors were indeed substantial.

To use underhanded strategies now would seem inappropriate to Adan Gilliam.

Adan Gilliam planned to find a chance to open his heart to Carson Flores, offer him a large sum of money, and ask him to leave his daughter, leave Polgel—as if he’d never been there.

Cut off contact, and with the man nowhere to be found, perhaps his daughter would be sad for a while, but time heals all wounds.

Life is about moving forward, isn’t it?

After dinner at the Gilliam Family’s house, Samantha Tate walked Carson Flores to the door.

Carson Flores laughed, “How do you come up with these ideas one after another?”

Samantha Tate said earnestly, “You are a talented person; what you might lack is simply a platform.

Knowing more high-level individuals will be beneficial to your life.”

Carson Flores chuckled, “My skills in fighting aren’t of much use here.”

Samantha Tate playfully hit Carson Flores, “Who’s asking you to fight?

Don’t you have excellent medical skills?

Not to mention anything else, all these people are wealthy.

Just like you said before, if you can cure a few of them and make a name for yourself in this circle, you will be revered as the Divine Doctor, and naturally, your status will be different.”

Carson Flores instinctively remembered Shawn Simmons’s attitude toward Vincent Ward and laughed, “That’s not necessarily true.

Rich people think differently from us, and besides, I’m not planning on being a full-time doctor.

But still, thanks for thinking of me.”

Samantha Tate asked with confusion, “Is being a doctor not good?

It has to be better than your current job, whether in terms of income or social status…”

Carson Flores found it difficult to explain the matter to Samantha Tate and simply replied with a smile, “Maybe I’ll quit after two or three months.

As for the future, who can be certain?

Alright, I’m off.”

Carson Flores had just gotten home when his phone rang.

Vincent Ward.

“Mr.

Flores, are you available Saturday evening?”

Carson Flores laughed, “I’m a man of leisure, of course, I’m free.”

Vincent Ward pleaded, “I have a patient, and I’m not confident about the case.

I’d like to ask Mr.

Flores to accompany me and give me some guidance, what do you say?”

With nothing else going on, Carson Flores agreed.

“That’s great, Mr.

Flores.

I’ll pick you up on Saturday.”

Carson Flores laughed, “No trouble at all, we can meet up at your clinic.”

“Alright then, I’ll wait for you at the clinic.”

Carson Flores hung up the phone and didn’t think much of it.

There are countless illnesses in the world, and even the best doctors frequently encounter diseases they can’t cure.

It was normal for Vincent Ward to lack confidence and ask for help.

Vincent Ward’s medical skills were actually very good, but he was slightly inferior in the flexible application of medicine and his grasp of prescriptions was relatively rigid.

That was why every time he prescribed medicine for difficult diseases, he was on the right track, but often missed the mark just slightly.

After taking a bath, Carson Flores lay in bed and it suddenly struck him—wasn’t tomorrow the three-day deadline he had given to the Black Bamboo Corporation boss?

There hadn’t been any movement yet; it seemed they weren’t taking his threat seriously.

He’d better pay them a visit tomorrow then.
