However, with Ward’s startled reaction, all eyes turned to Flores, and Flores realized he could no longer stay out of it.

“Yes, he’s not sick; he has been cursed with gu.”

Although Flores was reluctant to draw attention, the child was innocent and, as a physician, he could not ignore the situation.

What was more critical was that Raphael Schneider’s method of drawing blood with a spiral needle was something Flores understood.

The technique was quite clever, but it wasn’t the right treatment.

Before Leonard Reid could speak, Schneider scoffed with a sneer, “Cursed with gu?

Young man, you’ve read too many novels and lost your grip on reality.

Where in the world is there such a thing as gu?

It’s nothing more than an exaggerated myth about venomous creatures.”

Reid turned to ask, “Doctor Ward, who is he?”

Ward introduced him, feeling ashamed, “Carson Flores, Mr.

Flores.

His medical skills are far superior to mine.”

Reid furrowed his brows, clearly disbelieving, as Flores was far too young.

Schneider mocked, “Old Ward, how have you regressed so much by indulging in such street performance tricks?

Even if you wanted to boost his standing, you should have concocted a more convincing medical case.

Cursed with gu”—that’s rich.

Old Ward, have you ever seen what gu looks like?”

Reid stared sharply at Flores: “Dr.

Flores, right?

At which hospital or clinic do you practice medicine?”

Flores calmly replied, “I have medical knowledge, but being a physician is not my profession.”

Reid asked in a deep voice, “Then may I inquire what your current profession is?”

Flores was silent for two seconds: “I’m the sales manager at a medical equipment company.”

“A medical equipment salesman?”

Schneider sneered, “You’ve got some nerve saying that.

Are you so used to bamboozling customers every day that you dare to try and fool Mr.

Reid?”

Reid ignored Schneider, speaking calmly, “Why do you say he’s cursed with gu?”

Flores answered calmly, “He’s been cursed with a Blood-Flame Gu, which is very small.

You can think of it as an enlarged form of a virus, but it is indeed alive and has life, capable of lurking in a person’s bloodstream and secreting a hormone-like substance.”

“This substance has a mild toxicity and dissolves in the blood, leading to symptoms similar to blood fever.

As the Blood-Flame Gu secretes more fluid, the symptoms worsen, manifesting as itching and intermittent stabbing pain.

This toxin is not fatal but will spread throughout the body with the blood, damaging various organs, especially the brain, eventually leading to…

idiocy.”

Reid’s face paled slightly at Flores’s frightening explanation.

“What is your basis for this diagnosis?”

Flores pointed to the child’s right arm: “There are some red spots here.

They are purple and all located above the blood vessels.

These are the entry points of the Blood-Flame Gu into the bloodstream.”

The skeptical gazes of everyone present focused on the tiny red spots along that line, which looked more like traces left by insect bites or mosquito stings, didn’t they?

Having glanced at it, Schneider laughed coldly, “Nonsense!

Where in the world is there a bug so small that it can penetrate the skin and live in the bloodstream?

You’re just fearmongering!

Besides, who would use such methods against a child not even two years old!”

Reid, still looking at Flores, asked, “Do you have any other evidence?”

Flores smiled, “Medicine is for curing illnesses, not for solving cases.”

Reid nodded, turned to his secretary with a nod, and spoke in a deep voice, “See Dr.

Ward and Dr.

Flores out!”

Ward panicked, “Mr.

Flores has exceptional medical skills.

If he says this, it must be true.

Mr.

Reid, this concerns the child’s safety; please take it seriously.”

Flores held back Ward, “The healer does not die with the patient, and the Buddha saves those who are fated.

Let’s go.”

Ward understood Flores’s meaning, sighing, “The child cannot speak; he is innocent.”

Flores had reached the door.

Hearing Ward’s words, he paused his steps, “The method of bloodletting with a spiral needle is useless and might even aggravate the condition.

About a day after the acupuncture, the child’s vein color will darken.

That will be the symptom of deepening toxin.”

After finishing his statement, Flores left without any hesitation, and Ward, relieved, followed him out.

Flores had left them with a prediction.

If the veins indeed darkened, Reid would realize that Flores’s words were true.

Ward was unsatisfied with Reid’s attitude that day but couldn’t bear the thought of what would become of the young child.

To become an idiot?

That would be too cruel for the child and his family.

As for how Reid would seek Flores’s assistance, that was his concern.

Having made the trip, Ward considered his obligation fulfilled.

As they arrived at the hotel entrance, they saw the Gilliam and Newman families preparing to leave.

Samantha Tate saw Flores coming out and ran to him with joy, latching onto his arm affectionately, unconcerned about the onlookers around them.

Ethan watched the scene, grinding his teeth in anger.

Without waiting for his parents, Ethan got into his own Ferrari and roared out of the hotel parking lot.

In a huff, Ethan dialed Drake Bernard’s number; he wanted to know when they could finally get rid of Flores.

The call was answered, but by a woman’s voice.

“Hello, who is this?”

Ethan was stunned for a moment, “I’m looking for Boss Li.”

“Brother Li passed away due to an incident last night.

Did you need something from him?”

Ethan’s heart skipped, and his pupils constricted.

Drake Bernard was dead?
