The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 91: Chapter 91 He Slandered Me_1

Martin Baker’s face turned to iron blue, his fist clenched tightly. He had never anticipated that on the verge of execution, someone would come forward with a loan offer!

The financial issue was the pretext Martin Baker used to force Shirley Miller to step down, but once the financial problem was resolved, Martin Baker would have no grounds to push Shirley Miller out.

All his previous efforts had been in vain!

This matter involved not only his own personal interests but also those of Brian James, who had instructed him. Failing to complete the task would certainly incur Brian’s wrath!

Martin Baker stared at the two men, puzzled. How could such a coincidence occur?

Just as Shirley Miller was cornered into announcing her resignation, these two showed up. Could it be that Shirley Miller had arranged for two people to stage this?

Martin Baker sneered, ”Golden Radiance Investment? How come I’ve never heard of it before?”

Cody Mason smiled and said, ”Our company is not big and hasn’t been established for long, so it’s normal that you haven’t heard of it. But if you’re not sure, you can look us up online.”

Martin Baker didn’t believe it and took out his phone to search on the corporate website.

Soon, the results came up.

Martin Baker looked at the results and scoffed, ”Your company’s registered capital is only five million, and now you’re offering a loan of two hundred and fifty million? You’re not even investing, just lending money. Is your company really that wealthy?”

Cody Mason chuckled, ”Maybe I am not cut out for investing. The businesses I did didn’t make much profit, some even lost money. Holding onto this cash just loses interest, so I thought of lending it to the Miller Group. It pays back a favor and earns interest. Although the profit isn’t very high, it’s stable.”

Martin Baker was still suspicious, ”When will the funds arrive? Don’t keep delaying. Shirley Miller might afford to delay, but our entire company and so many employees cannot wait.”

Cody Mason was calm, ”We will transfer the money immediately after signing the contract. If you’re worried, we can make a note on the contract.”

With no alternative, Martin Baker hardened his heart, ”Fine, let’s sign, right now! Ms. Miller, I will speak plainly. Once we sign the contract and receive the money, I will act as if my previous words were never said. But if we sign and the money doesn’t come through, it will still count as you not fulfilling your promise, and you will still have to resign.”

Shirley Miller was about to resign previously and was thus unafraid of this threat. How much worse could the consequences get?

”Legal department, help draft the contract. Right here, in front of everyone, we will sign it.”

Securing a bank loan is actually quite simple. It’s basically them lending you money. If you can’t pay it back, you pay with corporate shares until the debt is settled.

Since Cody Mason made the same request as a bank, things were straightforward. After a few words, the contract was settled.

After both parties’ lawyers verified the contract, Shirley Miller and Cody Mason signed and stamped it. With a contract for each party, it was now effective.

After a call to his company, it didn’t take long for the two hundred and fifty million to arrive in River Miller’s account.

”The money has been received!”

The head of the finance department joyously announced this to everyone. For a moment, people exchanged looks of awkwardness and embarrassment.

They had followed Martin Baker’s lead in fervently belittling and attacking Shirley Miller. But now, she had suddenly pulled off a masterstroke by securing the loan, effectively slapping them in the face.

Their cheeks burned with embarrassment, utterly mortifying!

Cody Mason and Shirley Miller shook hands, exchanged a few encouraging words, and then he left the room swiftly and neatly.

Carson Flores witnessed the whole process. Seeing that Shirley Miller had overcome the crisis, he smiled faintly and quietly left the room, concealing his role and fame.

Shirley Miller noticed Carson Flores’s departure. With all eyes on her, she couldn’t possibly ask Carson Flores anything. She had to suppress her curiosity and ask when she got home.

She wanted to ask Carson Flores if he had anything to do with this.

Though logically she felt it was impossible for Carson Flores to be involved—after all, it was two hundred and fifty million, not just two hundred and fifty dollars—Shirley Miller still found it puzzling. These two men arrived just when they encountered Carson Flores, who even led the way for them.

Could it really be such a coincidence?

The atmosphere in the conference room was awkward. Martin Baker knew that toppling Shirley Miller today had become impossible, and staying would only bring more shame. With a cold snort, he stood up, ”Since the loan has been secured and the company’s financial issues are resolved, you have kept your promise. You continue as CEO, and there’s no need to continue this meeting.”

Martin Baker stood up, pushed back his chair, and prepared to leave when Shirley Miller suddenly called out, ”Vice President Baker, wait a moment!”

Martin Baker turned around, looking at Shirley Miller with a sarcastic tone, ”Does Ms. Miller have any other instructions?”

Shirley Miller stared coldly at Martin Baker, ”I would like everyone to watch a video.”

Martin Baker’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be the video from the dinner on Friday night, with Shirley Miller in attendance?

Wasn’t Shirley Miller afraid of embarrassing herself?

Shirley Miller took out her phone, played the video Carson Flores had sent her, and turned the volume up to the maximum.

The video was short and ended quickly.

All the company shareholders and senior executives widened their eyes, shockingly staring at Martin Baker.

Could he be that ruthless?

To not only unseat Shirley Miller from the CEO position but to also use such vile and despicable means to completely destroy her, ensuring she would never have a chance to regain a foothold in the Miller Group or even remain in Polgel?

Shirley Miller continued to stare coldly at Martin Baker, ”Vice President Baker, do you have anything to say for yourself?”

Martin Baker, without hesitation, yelled, ”He’s lying! I didn’t instruct him to do that, he’s slandering me, slandering me!”
