The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

74: Chapter 74: The Capital Trap_1 74: Chapter 74: The Capital Trap_1 “Mr.

Flores, thank you for helping me despite past grievances.

I was arrogant and conceited before, which is a cardinal sin for a medical professional.

I’m sorry!”

After leaving the hotel with Carson Flores, Raphael Schneider sincerely apologized to him.

Carson Flores smiled and said, “It was no trouble at all, no need to thank me.

You’re acquainted with Mr.

Ward, and we’re all doctors here, so it’s like we’re all insiders.”

Insiders?

Raphael Schneider’s face flushed with embarrassment.

He and Vincent Ward had been at odds with each other and could hardly be considered insiders.

Now it was Vincent Ward’s introduction to Carson Flores that had saved him.

“Mr.

Flores, what exactly is your relationship with Mr.

Ward?”

Carson Flores replied, “We became friends through our medical expertise, you could say we’re friends despite the difference in our ages.”

Raphael Schneider gritted his teeth, “I’ll pay a visit to Mr.

Ward later to express my thanks.”

Carson Flores chuckled, “There’s no need for thanks, but if you two could bury the hatchet, that would indeed be a wonderful thing.”

Raphael Schneider said gravely, “As long as Mr.

Ward is willing to let things go, I have no problem.”

“After all these years of conflict, don’t you know what kind of person he is?”

Carson Flores smiled and ended the conversation, “I’m in a hurry to work, I’ll take my leave first.”

Raphael Schneider watched Carson Flores drive away, feeling a mix of emotions.

Work?

A person who can casually donate ten million yuan but still earnestly doesn’t forget his job that might only pay a few thousand a month…

shameful indeed.

And here I am, carrying the title of a renowned doctor, preoccupied with making money, while neglecting the original intent of pursuing medicine.

The money I’ve earned is more than enough to live comfortably for a lifetime, yet I’m never satisfied, always wanting more; just as Leonard Reid said, trapped in fame and wealth, unable to extricate myself.

At my age, perhaps I should live more transparently and purely, like Carson Flores?

Wasn’t there an invitation to a charity event for disabled children recently?

I didn’t consider it before, but now, it might be a good idea to accept it.

Letting go of utilitarian motives and doing things that will make me feel comforted and proud in retrospect seems like a nice change.

I’ve made up my mind!

I’ll call them back!

Having decided, Raphael Schneider felt as if his steps became lighter.

…

“I always feel like Ms.

Miller has been swindled, I heard Baker Family has connections with Hailan Bank…”

“The older, the wiser.

Ms.

Miller is still too young.”

As soon as Carson Flores entered the office, he heard people discussing; turning his head, he saw several employees from the Sales Team Eight, including Jax Gross, gathered chatting.

“What are you guys talking about?

Who swindled Ms.

Miller?”

The crowd turned around and saw it was Carson Flores but didn’t panic.

Since Carson Flores took over, the atmosphere in the office had become much more relaxed.

He barely interfered with his employees, letting them do as they pleased.

In Carson Flores’ words, the job of the sales department is to sell things.

As long as you can sell, you can do whatever you want—coming in late, leaving early, sleeping at the job, playing games, or even going out on dates—it’s all up to you!

“Big brother Carson, early this morning, people from Hailan Bank showed up, and they’re still here.”

Carson Flores casually pulled up a chair and sat down, chuckling, “What, discussing a loan?”

Long-time employee Stone Compton sighed, “Not a loan, but a demand for repayment.”

Carson Flores asked, puzzled, “Repayment for what?”

“The corporate loan.”

Stone Compton replied, “Which company doesn’t have a bank loan?

Previously, banks were begging companies to borrow money.

The company has a large overdue debt that hasn’t been repaid.

It was supposedly agreed to be deferred, but today they suddenly came demanding repayment, saying it must be completed today, or else, they will sue our company.”

Carson Flores, still puzzled, asked, “And you know all this while they haven’t even left?

Are you ‘Know-It-All’?”

Stone Compton chuckled, “My wife works in the finance department, she told me.

It’s not really revealing secrets.

Hailan Bank’s people are making it very public; now many are aware.”

“Public?”

Carson Flores’ eyes narrowed slightly, “Does Hailan Bank have a good relationship with the Baker Family?”

Stone Compton nodded, “That’s the rumor, though the specifics aren’t clear.”

Carson Flores laughed, “They come with ill intentions.”

Jax Gross, indignant, said, “Exactly, the company just signed the pharmaceutical plant acquisition and paid the first installment.

The loan hasn’t even come through yet.

If we have to repay now, that will break our cash flow.

The company won’t be able to withstand it.

They’re clearly pushing the company towards destruction.”

Stone Compton said, “My wife told me that because the previous loan had indeed matured, the deferred payment was based on an oral agreement due to a good cooperative relationship and had not been put into writing.

Now the other party, with the loan contract in hand, is pressuring us.

There’s no argument; we must repay, given that if the bank sues, the negative publicity would significantly harm the company.”

Carson Flores frowned, “So, there’s no way out?”

Stone Compton answered, “We’ll definitely have to repay Hailan Bank’s loan, but the company is in the process of securing another loan.

As long as that loan comes through, we’ll be able to get through this difficult time.”

Demanding repayment?

Seeking a loan?

Carson Flores nodded, not making any comment, but he knew in his heart that the bank’s sudden loan recall, draining the company’s liquidity, was most likely the Baker Family flexing their muscles, and the upcoming loan wasn’t likely to go smoothly.

Shirley Miller had fallen into a trap.

He just didn’t know if Shirley Miller had any aces up her sleeve; otherwise, this obstacle might be insurmountable.
