Carson answered the phone with a laugh, “What’s up, are you trying to play lobbyist for Leonard Reid as well?”

Samantha chuckled in response, “Of course not.

What’s our relationship?

Others might not know, but I’m fully aware.

I have no right to ask you to do anything for me.

Besides, if I were really acting as a mediator, I wouldn’t have let my dad call you.”

Carson laughed, “I certainly didn’t give your dad any face just now.”

Samantha giggled, “I guessed you’d refuse.

Hehe, well done!”

Her words threw Carson off balance.

What was this woman up to?

He had just snubbed her father, and she wasn’t blaming him, but rather seemed happy?

Naturally, Samantha wouldn’t reveal her ulterior motives to Carson, “So what do you actually plan to do about this?

I trust that you, as a person, would not just watch a child suffer from a serious illness without doing anything.”

Carson chuckled, “What’s the situation on your end now?”

Samantha spoke candidly, “Leonard Reid is still sitting in the living room.

He came to Polgel this time intending to develop a core commercial area and is looking for a local real estate company to cooperate with.

The Gilliam Family didn’t stand a chance originally, but when Leonard Reid suddenly showed up and asked you to save his grandson, my dad hurried to find you, hoping to seize this opportunity to win the cooperation project.

Even if we can’t get the project, just establishing a connection with Leonard Reid is beneficial.”

“Leonard Reid was quite composed earlier, probably because he thought my dad could definitely persuade you.

But after my dad was rejected, he panicked, explaining repeatedly because you had refused so categorically, he was afraid of being turned away if he approached you directly.

So, he sought my dad to connect the dots, hoping you’d meet him in person and accept his apology.”

Samantha’s voice was full of admiration, “Carson, you’re so impressive.

Leonard Reid, a figure who can make the entire province quake with a stamp of his foot, so easily subdued by you!”

Listening to Samantha’s narrative, Carson could roughly picture the scene and said with a smile, “I didn’t plan to get the better of him.

It was just letting off steam and telling him that money isn’t everything.

He has to learn to respect others instead of trampling over other people’s dignity just because he is wealthy.”

Samantha sincerely praised, “That’s amazing!

Carson, you’re so cool!”

Carson laughed, “The child’s illness really can’t be delayed too long.

Alright, tell him if he figures things out, he can come to me.

If he can’t, then don’t bother because it would be a waste of time.”

Samantha chuckled, “I will relay the message exactly as you’ve said it, thank you for providing my dad with a way to step down.”

Carson replied casually, “It’s just a favor.

I rejected the Gilliam Family, they were bound to come to me anyway, the result is the same.”

Samantha said cheerily, “But by relaying it like this, it’s a favor.

I’ll treat you to dinner as thanks.”

Carson snorted, “No thanks!

Your dinners are poisoned.

One meal with you, and God knows what trouble will pop up next!”

Samantha didn’t hesitate to play coy, “Even if I’m not your girlfriend, I’m still a friend, right?

What’s wrong with friends having a meal together?

If you don’t agree, I’ll just show up at your company and make a scene in the sales department, saying that you led me on and abandoned me and our child.”

Carson was flabbergasted, “You, a grown woman, would actually do that?”

Samantha’s laughter was clear and crisp, “Oh, I’m just kidding.

How could I dare threaten you?

I can barely ask you as it is.

Please don’t refuse me, will you?”

Carson shook his head helplessly; this woman must have been a fox in her past life.

“We’ll see about that later!”

“Alrighty!

Gotta hang up now, love you!”

Love you, my foot!

Whoever believes that is a fool!

Leonard Reid’s call came through soon after, and his tone was polite over the phone.

“Mr.

Flores, I was disrespectful last night due to your youth and offended you, please grant me the chance to apologize in person!”

Carson replied, “I’m at Listening Rain Pavilion community.

Come over, and call me when you reach the gate.”

“Okay, Mr.

Flores, I’m on my way immediately!”

Half an hour later, Carson received the call.

Leonard Reid had arrived.

Carson strolled leisurely to the community entrance and immediately spotted a black Mercedes-Benz parked by the curb, with Leonard Reid waiting quietly at the roadside.

As soon as Carson approached, Leonard Reid, without a second word, executed a clean bow.

“Mr.

Flores, last night I disrespected you because of your youth and repeatedly offended you.

Today, I presumed to use money to buy your favor, then tried to coerce you through the Gilliam Family, making one mistake after another.

I apologize to you now, and am willing to accept any punishment, only hoping Mr.

Flores will consider my grandson’s innocence and help save him.”

Carson’s tone was even, “Mr.

Reid, you’re a big shot who could make the whole province shake with a stomp, apologizing to a nobody like me.

It must be frustrating, huh?”
