Chapter 294: Chapter 214: The Scramble for Wu Ting! A Special Meeting on His Promotion

”The surgeon I’m referring to is a multitalented genius, with skills spanning hepatobiliary, general, and hand surgery, among others... That’s why I believe the emergency department is the best place for him.”

”I propose we invite him to our emergency department as a vice director. Later, he can be promoted to chief physician and get involved in all of emergency surgery... At the same time, he can coordinate treatments with your hepatobiliary surgery, Hepatic Tumor Surgery, and cardiac surgery departments... In parallel, he can also continue his studies across various surgical disciplines...”

Shen Guofeng had the most comprehensive understanding of Wu Ting. As they listened to his reasoning, Director Fu and Shen Xiaofei suddenly saw the light.

”I agree with Professor Shen’s opinion.”

”As his mentor, I know Wu Ting’s talent all too well. His ability to learn is something I’ve never seen before in my life. How long has he been studying under me? Yet he’s already mastered my immunomodulation mechanisms and fully integrated the core concepts from the leading immunology experts I recommended to him...”

”You all may not know this, but his skill in diagnosing cardiomyopathy from an ECG is among the best in the province. And that’s just something he picked up on the fly while in the emergency department...”

”As for his involvement with Hepatic Tumor Surgery, that was only because he wanted to work on an interdisciplinary research project linking immunology and primary liver cancer caused by hepatitis B. I watched him every step of the way, from the initial thesis outline, as he gradually developed it into a massive, four-stage systematic project. He has now already completed the first two stages of his research...”

”I believe Wu Ting possesses a frighteningly astounding ability to learn, both in research and in clinical practice. Therefore, we shouldn’t restrict him. Just let him study across all surgical disciplines. Allowing him to freely develop based on his own interests and passion... he is sure to give us a huge surprise!”

As Wu Ting’s only direct mentor at the meeting, Shen Siyuan’s evaluation and opinion were met with agreement from the other directors.

Hearing these observations from various directors, each with their own perspective, this comprehensive analysis only deepened everyone’s appreciation for such a rare talent.

”No matter what, we have to get Wu Ting to come here!”

Dean Song had already formulated a plan. He would immediately contact Dean Sun at City First Hospital and see if he could arrange for Wu Ting’s transfer. In exchange for Wu Ting, he was prepared to offer City First Hospital compensation in the form of numerous collaborative project opportunities.

And once Wu Ting arrived at Haijin Port, with so many directors backing him, establishing himself and getting his work underway would be smooth sailing.

...

...

「Vice Director’s Office of City First Hospital.」

Huo Yun was discussing Wu Ting’s upcoming appointment with Dean Tang.

Director Huo’s position was clear: at this stage, Wu Ting already met all the criteria for a fast-track promotion to vice director.

”Dean Tang, I recommend we put this on the agenda for the next hospital-wide meeting and approve Wu Ting’s appointment as Vice Director of the Emergency Department. This will grant him the necessary authority for his duties and give him legitimate command over his team.”

”Given Wu Ting’s current abilities, his skill level, and the work he’s actually responsible for, the title of chief resident is a complete mismatch. Previously, we were constrained by documentation requirements, but not anymore. This time, as the research group leader and project lead, he won first prize in this year’s Jin Province Science and Technology Progress Awards for Natural Sciences. He fully meets the criteria for a fast-track promotion.”

”Even if it’s brought up at the hospital-wide meeting, no matter how much controversy or opposition there is, Wu Ting can shut them all down with his skills and track record!”

This time, Huo Yun was adamant, because he felt promoting Wu Ting to vice director was imperative.

Although Wu Ting hadn’t said anything about leaving, Huo Yun couldn’t risk letting him feel unappreciated.

Dean Tang fully endorsed Huo Yun’s suggestion. Wu Ting had given him plenty of surprises recently.

Just as he was about to approve this suggestion, the phone rang.

’A call from Dean Sun?’

Dean Sun was the Head Dean of City First Hospital and the one who ultimately called all the shots.

Dean Tang immediately picked it up.

”Tang Long, we have a doctor named Wu Ting, right? A lot of hospitals have been asking me about him today. This morning, Dean Song from Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital called me personally, asking if we’d be willing to transfer Wu Ting’s employment over to them.”

”According to Dean Song, if we agree to the transfer, he’s willing to give our hospital the opportunity to collaborate on several national-level projects... I feel this proposal is highly significant for our hospital’s development, so I wanted to hear your thoughts.”

”On top of that, I just got a call from Vice Dean Chen Bofeng of the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital. He’s also very interested in this Dr. Wu Ting and said they’re willing to recruit him. In return, he’s offered to establish a joint key laboratory with our hospital in the field of oncology. He would also send their experts over for regular academic exchanges.”

”Of course, compared to the hospital in Xianglin City, I’m leaning more toward Dean Song’s offer.”

”I just don’t quite understand why this Dr. Wu is attracting so much attention from the likes of Dean Song and Dean Chen. Something about this seems a little strange.”

Hearing Dean Sun’s words, Tang Long immediately became alert.

’So that’s what they’re up to! Dean Song and Dean Chen... trying to poach our people!’

Dean Tang thought for a moment:

”Dean Sun, I’m actually with Director Huo right now discussing Dr. Wu Ting’s promotion. I have an idea. Why don’t we take advantage of the fact that all these deans from other hospitals are vying for Dr. Wu and call an impromptu meeting with our mid- and senior-level management? We can decide then and there what to do about him—whether he stays or goes.”

Hearing Dean Tang’s suggestion, Dean Sun also understood the gravity of the situation.

”Alright. In that case, gather all the relevant department heads, along with all the deans and directors. We’re holding a meeting.”
