Chapter 278: Chapter 210: A Glorious Homecoming! Cousin’s Wedding, Family Gathering

After Wu Ting reported to Dean Tang, he waited for the dean to announce and implement the plans at the hospital’s general meeting.

Wu Ting resumed his daily work.

Meanwhile, his technology manager, Deng Feifei, was working overtime on the initial preparations, starting the registration process for Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company and handling all the related procedures.

They planned to locate Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company near City First Hospital, so Deng Feifei also had to spend the next few days scouting for office buildings.

For now, they would choose to lease a single floor of a building solely for business operations. After all, all research and development would take place in the future laboratory building.

Deng Feifei was also astounded by the extent of Wu Ting’s influence in Fan City.

In fact, Deng Feifei had approached the heads of relevant departments and a leader at the Fan City Mother Fund under the banner of Jin Pharmaceutical Group. But what surprised her was that before she even had to exert any real effort, the Fan City Mother Fund had already set up a special task force for Wu Ting, dedicated solely to servicing his project!

Deng Feifei never would have thought that this was personally supervised and arranged by the very head of the fund, Tang Shengjie.

Deng Feifei was struck by a sense of urgency. ’I need to work even harder,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, Wu Ting will have the funds, the connections, the site, and the equipment all lined up by himself.’

”You can do it, Feifei!”

Deng Feifei psyched herself up. She had to keep pace with Wu Ting; she couldn’t let him think Jin Pharmaceutical Group was useless.

The following Friday, Fan City First Hospital held its general meeting.

At the meeting, in addition to the routine work summary and recommendations, Dean Tang announced two major developments.

The first was a special commendation for Dr. Wu Ting from the Emergency Department. In light of the high-quality paper he had published in *Cell*, which brought great prestige and honor to the hospital, and in accordance with hospital regulations, Wu Ting was to receive a one-time bonus: 610,000 international dollars!

When this was announced, all the attendees were shocked and filled with envy.

But before they could even process this news, Dean Tang announced an even more stunning decision on behalf of the hospital.

The hospital would be upgrading and converting the reserve site on the west side—currently a temporary parking lot—to build a dedicated laboratory building for Wu Ting’s research project!

Naturally, many of the department heads in attendance disagreed with this decision, with some even voicing their opposition.

However, when Dean Tang laid out the cooperation framework between Wu Ting’s team and the Jin Pharmaceutical Group, the investment from Jinggang University’s mother fund, and the funding from the HHMI Research Center, everyone fell silent.

On top of that, Dean Tang revealed that Wu Ting’s research project was also set to receive a ten-million-dollar investment as a Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation!

The importance and development potential of Wu Ting’s laboratory were now beyond question.

Dean Tang even declared at the meeting that City First Hospital would fully support the development of Wu Ting’s lab and would continue to invest funds as it progressed. He made it crystal clear: anyone who dared to obstruct or interfere with this top-priority project would be transferred or told to resign.

Seeing Dean Tang’s resolve, the department heads and division chiefs at City First Hospital finally understood the will of the hospital’s leadership. Wu Ting was going to be the hospital’s new flagship figure, a future leader, and they were about to establish his unshakeable status.

They could already see Wu Ting’s meteoric rise laid out before them: attending physician, associate director, department head, academic leader, vice dean...

After the general meeting ended, a formal announcement was immediately posted on the official website and the hospital’s bulletin boards.

The following Monday, the 610,000 international dollar bonus was deposited directly into Wu Ting’s bank account.

Now that’s what you call efficiency!

It was the largest single bonus Wu Ting had ever received in his career.

His previous talent acquisition package had included a 150,000 settling-in fee, and the 1.2 million housing subsidy wasn’t paid in cash, so this new sum of money left Wu Ting feeling quite excited.

Wu Ting decided to use the money to buy his own car when he had some free time.

Although his mentor, Shen Siyuan, had lent him a car, he had always wanted one of his own.

Receiving 610,000 all at once was the perfect chance to treat himself.

As it happened, the upcoming Saturday was an auspicious day—and his cousin was getting married.

It was the perfect opportunity for Wu Ting to drive his parents to the wedding reception in the countryside in his new car.

Wu Ting had always been a very ordinary person, and his parents never had particularly high expectations for him.

They had been worried about his job, but now that he had progressed by leaps and bounds in just a few short months, he was eager to share his joy with his parents.

Between his duties as chief resident and traveling to Xiao City every weekend for his graduate studies, he hadn’t been able to make a proper trip home in a long time.

This was the perfect chance to attend the wedding and spend some quality time with his parents.

As a family that had been compensated for urban redevelopment, their financial situation wasn’t what you’d call good, but it wasn’t bad either.

However, within the extended family, they were still considered rather unremarkable. His parents didn’t have high expectations for Wu Ting or care much about his accomplishments; they just wanted him to be happy.
