Chapter 273: Chapter 208: Glorious Return to City No. 1 Hospital, Launching the Grand Plan (Part 2)

Just as Dean Tang was contemplating how to deal with Wu Ting, his phone suddenly rang.

”Brother Long, my father was diagnosed with gallbladder polyps at your hospital’s hepatobiliary surgery department some time ago, and he’s been undergoing conservative treatment. However, in the last few days, his condition has started to worsen...”

The man on the other end of the line was a long-time friend of Dean Tang’s family, from one of the more powerful families in Fan City.

Tang Shengjie, the head of the Fan City National Investment Company, had been busy directing various investments for the Fan City Mother Fund.

The Fan City Mother Fund, with 5 billion in assets, fully leveraged the abundant resources and combined strengths of Huaxin Construction, Fan City National Investment, and Heshi Finance and Control. The fund focused on strategic emerging industries in Fan City and the surrounding Delta region—such as healthcare, the digital economy, and high-end equipment manufacturing—by investing in outstanding domestic funds and high-quality direct investment projects.

Tang Shengjie was the head of this mother fund’s management team. He had already held preliminary talks with several companies and reached tentative partnership agreements. Aside from one project that had just received its third round of funding today, several other sub-funds were also in the investment pipeline.

Tang Shengjie hoped that Fan City’s first comprehensive mother fund would open a new Chapter, serving as a catalyst for local development and industrial upgrading.

Due to his demanding work schedule, Tang Shengjie hadn’t been able to pay much attention to his parents’ health. His father, not wanting to bother his son, had kept his condition a secret until it became this severe.

Although Dean Tang hadn’t been on the clinical front lines for a long time, he had a general idea that the patient’s condition was likely gallstones or acute cholecystitis. He immediately contacted Huo Yun and Cai Qi, telling them both to rush to the emergency department.

At the same time, he made all the necessary arrangements for President Tang regarding diagnosis and treatment.

He glanced at the time, guessing that Tang Shengjie would be bringing Elder Tang to the emergency department shortly. He immediately headed there himself.

After he arrived at the emergency department, it wasn’t long before Huo Yun and Cai Qi were in position as well.

”Director Huo, Director Cai, this patient, Elder Tang, is a close elder of mine. I’m entrusting him to you both. Please, you must formulate the most comprehensive and sound plan possible.”

With President Tang’s resources, the cost of treatment was obviously not an issue. The main priority was getting the best possible surgical plan.

Knowing this was an important request from Dean Tang, the two directors began their preparations with utmost diligence.

A few minutes later, Tang Shengjie arrived at the emergency department with his father.

Director Huo and Director Cai immediately began running various tests on the patient.

The heads of the Radiology and Ultrasound Departments also rushed over in person.

Elder Tang was already known to have gallbladder polyps. His symptoms had recently worsened to include pain in his upper right abdomen, accompanied by weight loss, jaundice, and an abdominal mass.

After a series of tests, the directors’ expressions grew heavy.

”The patient’s gallbladder polyps and inflammation have caused the gallbladder wall to thicken and lose its normal shape. The mucosal layer is damaged to varying degrees, and the wall shows signs of fibrosis and calcification. The patient neglected to have regular check-ups, and now the entire gallbladder wall has thickened and hardened, forming what’s known as a ’porcelain gallbladder’!”

”It’s a porcelain gallbladder, and it’s now triggered acute cholecystitis. We initially opted for conservative treatment, considering Elder Tang’s age and his less-than-ideal physical condition. But now, with the development of a porcelain gallbladder, surgery is unavoidable.”

”The only thing is, we need to carefully deliberate on the surgical approach. Because of the polyps and the porcelain gallbladder, we can’t get a clear look at the characteristic sonographic images. That means we can only perform an intraoperative exploration...”

”However, if we perform open surgery, I’m afraid Elder Tang’s body might not be able to withstand it. But if we use a minimally invasive laparoscopic technique, we’re concerned other issues might arise during the procedure...”

”It would be best to bring in a top expert in cholecystectomy. That would give us the highest possible success rate.”

For an ordinary patient, Huo Yun and Cai Qi, or even their subordinate Qin Donglai, could have handled it. But this patient’s identity was special, and with Dean Tang and Tang Shengjie waiting nearby, the two directors didn’t dare take any chances.

”Dean Tang, I actually have an idea. Our hospital has a god-tier surgeon for cholecystectomies. We should have him take the lead on this.”

The first person Cai Qi thought of was Wu Ting.

Huo Yun’s and Tang Long’s eyes lit up. They had been planning to find time to talk with Wu Ting, to reward and encourage him.

They never imagined they would be turning to Wu Ting for help first.

The directors present had grown accustomed to Wu Ting’s excellence and his ability to turn the tide in a crisis.

Huo Yun gave Wu Ting a call.

Wu Ting arrived at the conference room shortly after.

When Huo Yun, Dean Tang, and Cai Qi saw Wu Ting, they all had a great deal they wanted to say. Wu Ting’s performance over the past few days had been nothing short of phenomenal, bringing a great deal of buzz and influence to City First Hospital.

However, the patient’s condition was urgent, so with a tacit understanding, the directors and Dean Tang launched directly into a discussion of the case.

”Wu Ting, the patient has gallbladder polyps complicated by acute cholecystitis... The best course of action is to remove the gallbladder. The problem is, given his age and physical condition, we’re concerned he won’t be able to withstand a traditional open surgery. But if we use a minimally invasive technique, we’re worried about potential intraoperative complications...”

”Look here. The patient’s gallbladder has developed into a porcelain gallbladder... Both the ultrasound and the other imaging files are inconclusive...”
