Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 270: Chapter 207: Rejecting the 3 Major Pharmaceutical Groups and Taking the Path of Independent and Self-Sufficient R&D

”My mother’s office desk was always piled high with research materials on national policy. So, I am very well aware that our ’14th Five-Year Plan’ explicitly states the goal of making technological self-reliance and self-improvement the strategic backbone of national development, and accelerating our rise as a technological powerhouse!”

”That’s why in today’s Jin Country, it’s not just the capital markets—government-funded projects are also providing robust support for innovative tech companies. Right now, the commercialization of scientific breakthroughs is most active in core fields like biomedicine, next-generation information technology, and intelligent manufacturing. Scientist-led entrepreneurship is booming!”

”Therefore, our proposed partnership between Jin Pharmaceutical Group and Dr. Wu is designed to completely guarantee the independence of his team’s research. We will simply provide support in terms of funding, equipment, and personnel.”

”In return, Jin Pharmaceutical Group would only require patent licensing rights from Dr. Wu’s new company and an equity stake in the venture.”

Deng Feifei had just unveiled a proposal that, from the perspective of the three major pharmaceutical giants, was utterly insane.

Deng Feifei continued:

”Perhaps from President Xie’s perspective, scientists have a limited skill set and aren’t suited for every type of work. But here in Jin Country, the incubation process for projects coming out of university labs is already very mature.”

”Running a company is certainly complex, involving organizational management, equity structuring, talent incentives, marketing, and future growth strategies. It’s impossible for every scientist to possess all those skills. However, the relevant funds and experienced investors in Jin Country today can handle everything President Xie mentioned—team building, resource networking, even factory construction, policy applications, and future financing rounds.”

”Our Jin Pharmaceutical Group is at the forefront of this trend in Jin Country. Back in Xiao City, we established a ’technology manager’ system long ago to continuously track and solve the problems scientist-entrepreneurs face. Xiao City also has dedicated service platforms, like industrial accelerators, that are more than capable of connecting entrepreneurs with extensive industry resources.”

”The three of you represent three independent multinational corporations. But what stands behind Jin Pharmaceutical Group is the world’s second-largest and fastest-growing consumer market, as well as a constantly evolving new model of university-industry collaboration.”

”Our nation’s industrial and capital sectors now possess a level of potential and creativity that you can’t even imagine. Our partnership with Wu Ting’s team won’t be limited to just an equity investment. We will also help connect him with Jinggang University Medical College. Our universities have extensive experience operating their own equity investment funds to support the commercialization of research breakthroughs from teams just like Dr. Wu’s!”

”Furthermore, Jin Pharmaceutical Group has a unique background of development guided by state-owned assets. I can help Dr. Wu return to Fan City to establish his own laboratory for HBV-related primary liver cancer, secure support from government funds, and bring in equity investments from other capitalists.”

”Also, I am good friends with Dr. Wu Ting’s mentor, Professor Shen. Through him, I’ve come to understand Dr. Wu’s personal ambitions and his plans for the future.”

”So, the final partnership proposal from Jin Pharmaceutical Group is this: our group will fully fund Dr. Wu’s return to Fan City First Hospital to establish his own completely autonomous laboratory for HBV-related primary liver cancer. We will also assist Dr. Wu in founding his own pharmaceutical company. After that, I am personally willing to serve as the company’s technology manager to help Dr. Wu get the new enterprise up and running.”

”In return, Jin Pharmaceutical Group only asks for the patent licensing rights to any future research and priority partnership rights.”

”Jin Pharmaceutical Group respects scientists, professionalism, and the market. We have extensive experience in fostering a healthy ecosystem for entrepreneurship and innovation, uniting various forces for multi-layered, sustainable growth. We are truly bridging the gap between science, industry, and finance.”

Deng Feifei laid her cards on the table for Wu Ting with utmost sincerity. This was less about signing a cooperation framework and more an invitation to walk side-by-side, to grow together, and to build an independent, self-sufficient high-tech company for Jin Country and for Jin Province itself!

After laying out the broad strokes, Deng Feifei added a few more details.

”Dr. Wu, when it comes to funding for scientist-entrepreneurs, besides equity investment, there are debt financing options like intellectual property-backed loans and a variety of innovative financial products from our domestic institutions... Jinggang University alone has a 10-billion-yuan parent fund to support seed-stage and growth-stage tech startups that come out of the university...”

Deng Feifei’s unconventional approach clearly left the representatives from the three major medical corporations stunned and incredulous.

Xie Bin hadn’t expected Deng Feifei to be willing to forgo absolute control over Wu Ting and his research. Instead, she was offering to help him launch his own independent venture. He was, in fact, somewhat familiar with the various government-backed and university-backed parent funds in Jin Country.

The parent fund of the Science Academy alone had over 60 billion yuan in assets under management. A prime example among universities, Shuimu University, had also established sixteen equity investment funds, including Shuimu Qinghua and the Spring Breeze Fund, with a combined scale in the tens of billions!

And there were even more government-backed parent funds focused specifically on investing in technology!

Xie Bin knew that with Pfizer Company’s controlling nature, it would never agree to a mere equity investment in research that had the potential to monopolize an entire industry. It would never allow Wu Ting’s team to have complete autonomy.
