Chapter 289: Chapter 213: Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company Founded and the Provincial Natural Science Award Announced

After You Wei answered the call, he wasn’t in any hurry. He waited for their plea for help.

But to his surprise, Dean Liu informed him in a very matter-of-fact tone:

”Director You, my apologies. We just performed surgery on the patient. We’ve already stopped the bleeding and completed the rest of the repairs. The operation was a great success.”

”We were in the operating room the whole time, so I forgot to tell you. Everything’s taken care of now, and I just remembered to get back to you.”

”We won’t need to trouble you this time, Director You. Perhaps we can collaborate on the next opportunity.”

It was a rare opportunity for Dean Liu to speak to You Wei like this, and he was thoroughly enjoying it.

Hearing Dean Liu say the surgery was complete—and in such a short amount of time—You Wei found it a little hard to believe.

’Was the diagnosis wrong? After opening him up, was the patient’s condition not as bad as we thought? Otherwise, if they used manual compression and liver resection, there’s no way it would have gone so smoothly.’

You Wei asked probingly, ”Dean Liu, you finished the surgery so quickly. Was it because the intraoperative exploration revealed the patient’s condition was much better than previously estimated? Based on the surgical plan we discussed, it should have been impossible to finish so fast.”

Professionally, You Wei was quite formidable. And based on his knowledge and experience, not a single expert in all of Jin Province would dare claim they could complete such a complex surgery so quickly and smoothly.

Hearing the doubt in You Wei’s voice, Dean Liu became a bit smug and explained with an air of mystery:

”Not at all. The patient’s condition was just as we had estimated. It’s just that this time, we used a completely new approach for the surgery. We employed a more convenient and efficient hemostasis method, using a condom as a balloon, which perfectly solved the problem.”

”Add to that the solid fundamentals and comprehensive skills of our lead surgeon, and that’s how we were able to complete this operation in a way that exceeded all expectations.”

”If I hadn’t participated in and witnessed this surgery with my own eyes, I would find it hard to believe too. Fortunately, at the lead surgeon’s arrangement beforehand, the procedure was recorded. Otherwise, no one would believe it if we just told them.”

”This balloon tamponade hemostasis method is a technique designed specifically for treating major hemorrhage from liver rupture in grassroots hospitals like ours.”

Over the phone, Dean Liu sighed with emotion, his words filled with immense pride.

Listening to Dean Liu’s explanation, You Wei obviously couldn’t grasp the essence of this new technique from just a few sentences.

Besides, he had never heard of anyone using a condom for compression hemostasis during a major hemorrhage from a liver rupture. What on earth was this technique?

Dean Liu’s intentionally vague explanation sparked immense curiosity in You Wei. In addition to this innovative Surgical Technique, he was also very curious about the identity of the lead surgeon.

However, he had always maintained a high-and-mighty attitude, looking down on the doctors at Yu State Hospital with great arrogance.

Now, finding himself unable to fully comprehend the surgical approach Dean Liu described, he couldn’t swallow his pride and ask for the specific operational details.

”Alright, I understand. We’ll cooperate next time there’s an opportunity.”

”Congratulations on the successful surgery.”

After saying that, You Wei quickly hung up the phone, afraid that if he continued talking, he wouldn’t be able to resist asking about this new technique.

But after he put down the phone, his mind was filled with the words Dean Liu had used to describe the procedure.

’How exactly do you perform compression hemostasis with a condom? I’ve never heard of such a technique in emergency treatment for major hemorrhage from liver rupture. Who could it be?’

Although You Wei’s character was questionable and he was greedy for money, he was obsessed with studying medical techniques.

You Wei began searching various forums, related websites, and the latest journals for any mention of using a condom for hemostasis in major hemorrhage from liver rupture, but he found nothing.

’Could it be that some expert really created this hemostasis technique specifically for this patient and for Yu State Hospital?’

In the end, his greed for a new technique overcame his pride.

You Wei was well aware that his people skills were average at best and that he had offended many people. But the reason he could remain firmly in his director position was that he possessed outstanding clinical skills.

And these were his bread-and-butter skills, accumulated through countless hours and vast experience.

Hearing about a completely new method for compression hemostasis in liver rupture, he felt an irrepressible desire to learn it and use it as another tool to make money in the future.

After some thought, You Wei called Dean Liu again. This time, his tone and attitude were much, much better. He politely flattered Dean Liu for a bit before finally asking:

”Dean Liu, after hearing you describe the technique, I’ve been pondering it for a while but just can’t figure out the principles and key points. So, I was wondering if you could reveal which director or expert from our province pioneered this method?”

”Also, I have a rather bold favor to ask. Would it be possible to send me the surgical video so I can observe and study it?”

You Wei adopted a very humble posture. ’I’m showing him plenty of respect here,’ he thought. ’Dean Liu should be eager to forward the surgical video to me.’

However, to his surprise, Dean Liu’s reply was quite firm.

”As for the lead surgeon, I can disclose that. While this doctor is young, he is a true genius when it comes to clinical surgery. Our hospital has already hired him as an expert consultant. He is Dr. Wu Ting, from the emergency department of Fan City First Hospital.”
