Chapter 272: Chapter 208: Glorious Return to City No. 1 Hospital, Launching the Grand Plan

In the hospital ward.

Lu Xuejun from Hepatobiliary Surgery had just finished his rounds.

He immediately spotted Wu Ting and Deng Feifei, who was by his side. Deng Feifei was the epitome of a wealthy, beautiful heiress—elegant, with a great figure and a sweet face.

Seeing her quietly following Wu Ting, Lu Xuejun couldn’t help but marvel at Wu Ting’s charm.

Yan Xi, Ling Ling, Jin Yan... each one was a man’s dream. And now, another even more stunning beauty had appeared.

Wu Ting’s name had been making waves in the fields of immunology and oncology these past few days. Lu Xuejun had watched the livestream at the time and was now in complete awe of him, his eyes filled with nothing but admiration.

However, sensing Wu Ting’s low-key nature and being in a hospital ward, Lu Xuejun only expressed his admiration with his gaze.

He glanced at Deng Feifei, a knowing, masculine smile touching his lips.

But Lu Xuejun had no time to gossip about Deng Feifei. Instead, he reported to Wu Ting with a mixture of admiration and excitement:

”Dr. Wu, you’re absolutely incredible. That patient with hepatic encephalopathy who couldn’t be cured at the lower-level hospital... following your diagnosis and treatment plan, all their symptoms have subsided after just four days! The patient’s blood ammonia and liver function are gradually returning to normal...”

Lu Xuejun handed Wu Ting the latest test results from today.

Wu Ting looked them over and nodded.

”Not bad, not bad at all. The recovery is excellent. In that case, we can arrange for the patient’s discharge tomorrow afternoon.”

Although Wu Ting was only the chief resident, Lu Xuejun, a senior attending physician, took his instructions to heart and noted them down diligently.

”You got it, Dr. Wu!”

Wu Ting’s prestige in the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department had already surpassed that of Director Cai Qi. It was a shame his official title and seniority weren’t high enough, and his skills in the specific field of hepatobiliary surgery were still a bit green. Otherwise, if Wu Ting were to replace him, every doctor in the department would clap and cheer.

Wu Ting checked on the other patients. After confirming everything was fine, he returned to the on-call room for second-line doctors.

Next, he prepared to write a proposal for establishing a hepatitis B liver cancer laboratory. After that, he planned to see Dean Tang, the Director of Hepatobiliary Surgery Cai Qi, and of course, his first great mentor, the head of the Emergency Department, Huo Yun.

Seeing Wu Ting get busy, Deng Feifei also took out her own laptop and started working. The tasks ahead of her were even more numerous than his.

Just registering and establishing Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company alone would require a huge amount of time and energy. Fortunately, she had plenty of subordinates to help.

After all, Deng Feifei was the daughter of the chairman of the Jin Pharmaceutical Group!

...

...

In the Vice Director’s Office of City First Hospital.

Tang Long was watching a recording of Wu Ting’s lecture. The more he watched, the more startled Dean Tang became.

’This Wu Ting is actually this brilliant? He’s already reached such a level in the field of immunology...’

Dean Tang had always admired and strongly supported Wu Ting, but he never expected him to grow so quickly.

’No wonder that fellow Huo Yun keeps pushing for the Jin Province Science and Technology Advancement Award. His goal is to get Wu Ting an exceptional promotion to associate chief physician.’

’It really is time to find a suitable opportunity to give Wu Ting the highest title and authority possible, without breaking any regulations.’

Tang Long clearly understood why Huo Yun was so anxious. The situation was no longer about whether Wu Ting needed City First Hospital, but that City First Hospital couldn’t afford to lose a top-tier talent like him.

’Fortunately, Wu Ting is a young man who values relationships and has good character. He has a deep connection to City First Hospital. As his superior, I certainly can’t let him feel disheartened.’

Dean Tang thought of the most direct reward he could give Wu Ting at this stage: the bonus for publishing in the top-tier SCI journal, *Cell*.

According to City First Hospital’s regulations, for SCI journals, every point of the impact factor earns a bonus of 10,000 in international currency. Based on the latest impact factor data, *Cell*’s is 61.957, which is higher than *Science*’s 61.027 and close to *Nature*’s 68.597...

Dean Tang planned to announce this news at the upcoming hospital-wide meeting. He would also issue a public notice, awarding Wu Ting a one-time bonus of 610,000 in international currency!

This was a huge personal bonus, and also the largest reward for a publication in the history of City First Hospital.

Of course, in addition to this, once Wu Ting’s related project secured funding from the National Natural Science Foundation, the hospital could, according to its rules, provide matching funds at a 1:1 ratio.

Naturally, this kind of financial support was always allocated based on City First Hospital’s total annual budget, weighted by importance, personal connections, and other factors.

But this time, as long as Wu Ting could secure the grant, Dean Tang would use his authority to get the matching funds for him immediately.

’No matter what, I have to keep Wu Ting at City First Hospital. Even if he wanted to be a department director—which isn’t possible in name—I could still consider giving him the actual authority.’

After all, the hospital was a public institution; promotions and appointments had to follow compliance rules. Otherwise, given Wu Ting’s current achievements in the field of liver cancer, Dean Tang would have gotten rid of Cai Qi long ago.

Right now, Wu Ting was like a genius taking a test. Some people score a hundred because that’s the limit of their ability; Wu Ting scores a hundred because the test is only worth a hundred points.

’Hopefully, the upcoming publication award, the Jin Province Science and Technology Advancement Award, and his appointment to associate chief physician once he meets the requirements will be enough to put Wu Ting’s mind at ease and have him continue his solid research and clinical work here at City First Hospital.’
