Chapter 51: Chapter 51: A Perfect Conclusion, Summary of the Rescue Operation, and Rewards for Merit

After a full day and night, the entire rescue operation was finally declared a success!

To date, all the injured had received effective treatment, and there had been no fatalities.

The next phase of work would be the patients’ psychological intervention and rehabilitation, which was now largely under control.

In this rescue operation, City First Hospital demonstrated a powerful capacity for pre-hospital and in-hospital organization, coordination, and treatment in response to a sudden, severe mass casualty incident!

The entire emergency rescue team had successfully completed its mission. Dean Tang was preparing to compile the data and report the situation to his superiors.

Huo Yun and Wei Guoqiang each went to their departments to visit doctors of all levels, offering them praise and encouragement.

Inside the Emergency Department, the physicians were jubilant. Having gone through such a large-scale rescue, every doctor felt they had undergone a baptism, strengthening both their resolve and their professional skills.

This was especially true for Wu Ting and Jiang Ming, who had both performed exceptionally during the operation.

Director Huo did not hold back his praise:

”Congratulations, everyone, on excellently handling the treatment of this mass burn incident. I especially want to commend Dr. Wu Ting and Associate Director Jiang Ming for their outstanding performance. Both of them, through their extraordinary technical skills and tenacious spirit, have demonstrated the excellent character of our City First Hospital Emergency Department.”

”Let’s give them a round of applause!”

Huo Yun led the applause, and the other doctors joined in. The head nurse and junior nurses also looked on with respect.

”You’ve all worked hard. But you can’t let your guard down over the next few days. Except for the physicians and nurses on duty, everyone else should go home and get some proper rest.”

”Jiang Ming, Wu Ting, you two are with me. We’re doing an interview for the TV station.”

Director Huo took Wu Ting and Jiang Ming to the final interview. Afterward, Huo Yun would need to compile a summary of the Emergency Department’s performance in the rescue operation, highlighting its strengths and reflecting on its shortcomings.

The final interview was conducted by Zhu Zhu. Before speaking with the three of them, she had already interviewed other doctors and nurses in the Emergency Department. She now had a complete concept for her story; she just needed the main subjects to fill in the details.

Wu Ting, Jiang Ming, and Director Huo answered all of Zhu Zhu’s questions with calm confidence.

After Director Huo gave a concluding statement, the process came to an end.

”Thank you all so much. And thanks to all the doctors at City First Hospital for their dedication and sacrifice during this rescue operation.”

Zhu Zhu gave a bow, then led her team out of City First Hospital.

”Jiang Ming, Wu Ting, you’ve worked hard too. Go home and rest for a day. Report back to the department the day after tomorrow.”

Huo Yun gave the two heroes of the hour a day off.

With that done, Huo Yun began his review and summary.

In this incident, the Emergency Department’s overall performance in pre-hospital communication, medical guidance, triage, transport, critical care, and coordination with specialists was excellent.

However, a closer look revealed several shortcomings. The department’s medical equipment lagged behind that of top hospitals in Jin Province. On-site first responders lacked systematic, professional training, which posed a risk to the timeliness of treatment in areas like burn fluid replacement, tracheotomy, and hemodialysis. Furthermore, the boundaries, division of labor, and responsibilities with other departments were not clearly defined.

Of course, the rescue operation also highlighted outstanding individuals, such as Jiang Ming and Wu Ting.

This was especially true for Wu Ting, whose outstanding contributions were undeniable:

First, his ”Combined Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Treatment for Tracheotomy” significantly improved response times for asphyxiated patients and addressed subsequent infection issues. After its successful application on a large number of patients, his thesis on the subject was all but complete.

Second, his Haijin Gang Burn Fluid Replacement Formula compensated for the shortcomings of both the burn and emergency departments, drastically increasing the success rate of treatment. It set a new standard within the province, and it was sure to be a major focus at this year’s academic conference on emergency medicine.

Finally, the successful implementation of continuous blood purification therapy demonstrated the department’s ability to utilize advanced equipment and cutting-edge techniques. This laid a solid foundation for the department to promote the technology, request more funding from the hospital, and send doctors for advanced training elsewhere.

As he summarized these points, Huo Yun was once again struck by Wu Ting’s performance.

’It looks like I’ll have to fight for Wu Ting at the next hospital-wide meeting,’ Huo Yun thought. ’I need to secure his permanent position and official staff slot once and for all!’

Having made up his mind, Huo Yun began to draft his speech for the upcoming meeting.

Merit had to be rewarded.

「Fan City TV Station.」

As soon as Zhu Zhu got back, she immediately started editing the footage and writing the news report.

She placed the high-level, strategic statements from City First Hospital’s leadership at the beginning. But for the main body of the report, which would show the medical staff in action, Zhu Zhu decided to take an unconventional approach. Instead of a montage praising the entire team, she chose to create a feature focusing specifically on Wu Ting’s accomplishments.

She edited the video to include all the details of Wu Ting’s outstanding performance.

She also included praise from other doctors, admiration from his superiors, and the recognition from the province’s top medical teams, painting a vivid and flawless portrait of Wu Ting from every angle.

A young, rising star in medicine—handsome, exceptionally skilled, and capable of turning the tide in a crisis!

The more Zhu Zhu worked on the piece, the more excited she became. She was turning into a Wu Ting fan herself. Through her lens, he appeared handsome, professional, and brimming with a powerful charisma!

Perhaps because she had already fully fleshed out her concept, Zhu Zhu finished producing the entire segment with incredible efficiency.

Once it was done, she sent it directly to the supervising director and Director Cai for review.

The supervising director was Director Lin. After watching the segment, he approved of the first half but felt the second half was problematic.

He felt it focused too heavily on the young doctor, Wu Ting.

It wasn’t that he disbelieved the footage or the content; he was worried about the potential for unnecessary controversy after it aired.

After all, in a report on such a serious, large-scale incident, would excessively highlighting one junior doctor cause controversy among the public or his peers? Wu Ting simply looked too young and was too handsome, which could lead to unfavorable speculation.

Director Lin felt that Zhu Zhu had let her subjective feelings influence the content too much.

Director Lin voiced his thoughts and suggestions.

The final decision, however, rested with Cai Dongbao. Director Cai deeply agreed with the concerns Director Lin had raised.

However, after watching the segment himself, he had a different idea.

’It’s Dr. Wu!’

Cai Dongbao had a vivid memory of Wu Ting; it was thanks to Wu Ting’s miraculous skill that his own nephew had recovered.

Different people see things differently. Cai Dongbao felt that what Director Lin saw as a risk was, from another angle, an opportunity.

Director Cai made the final call:

”We’re going with Zhu Zhu’s idea. In fact, I think we can increase Dr. Wu Ting’s screen time even more. Of course, we must maintain the report’s overall integrity and serious tone. We can condense the summaries from Dean Tang, Director Huo, and Director Wei. This time, our main focus will be Dr. Wu Ting!”

Director Cai had a bold plan.

First, he had met Wu Ting personally and knew the man was the real deal. So, why not fan the flames of public opinion?

If this news report stirred up controversy, it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. The new show, *Path to Health*, was about to launch. Director Cai planned to ride the wave of publicity and invite Wu Ting as a guest. He could use his professional expertise to personally debunk any rumors and prove his own merit.

By doing so, he was confident that *Path to Health* would get all the buzz and exposure it needed.

He also considered this plan a gift to Wu Ting. It would increase his influence, externally shaping and packaging him into a star doctor for Fan City First Hospital.

’Of course, the most critical part is still Wu Ting’s actual ability.’

Director Lin didn’t fully agree with Director Cai’s decision, but he carried it out nonetheless.
