Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Trusted Successor! Director Huo’s 5-Year Plan for Wu Ting

”Wu Ting, I heard you’ve already performed traditional appendectomies with Dr. Qin Donglai. Next, I’m planning to launch a project on laparoscopic appendectomy. The main focus will be on minimally invasive techniques, and I’m also aiming to get on the final list for ’Path to Health.’”

”At the last hospital meeting, Dean Tang repeatedly emphasized that the projects selected this time will receive funding, equipment, and the opportunity for special free clinics and promotion both online and offline.”

”Of course, with this level of support, we’ll also be required to publish a paper in a national-level journal within a year. After working together a few times, I’m well aware of your clinical talent. Your suturing skills, in particular, are top-notch in the department. That’s why I want to invite you to join my research group.”

”Next, I’ll also request from Director Huo that we specialize in admitting appendicitis patients, which will give you plenty of surgical opportunities. I’ll also personally teach you minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques. So, what do you think? Are you interested in joining?”

Jiang Ming’s invitation was very sincere.

’This was, of course, an excellent opportunity for Wu Ting. He’d get to perform surgery with Jiang Ming, and he might even get a trait drop.’

’The key was the laparoscopic technique itself, which was exactly what he needed most right now. As long as he could acquire the ”Laparoscopic Technique” trait, he could synthesize the Scar-Hiding Laparoscopic Appendectomy (Purple).’

”Director Jiang, it’s my honor to join your research group. I will definitely work hard and learn as much as I can.”

Wu Ting was overjoyed.

”Good, then it’s settled. I’ll spend the next few days optimizing the team. I’ll go speak with Director Huo and Director Lin Hu. At the same time, I’ll use my family’s connections to have our various subordinate hospitals transfer more patients who need appendectomies over to us.”

”Once the patients start coming in, you’ll follow our team starting from the diagnostic phase, and you’ll participate in all the subsequent surgeries. In the meantime, you can watch some more surgical videos on laparoscopic techniques.”

Jiang Ming himself was a prodigiously talented doctor, so his team was composed of elite physicians, all of whom were highly capable in every respect. Jiang Ming was willing to provide plenty of opportunities to cultivate talent, but if someone couldn’t seize those surgical opportunities, they would be removed from the team after just a few failures.

Therefore, he hoped Wu Ting would start studying on his own beforehand and not disappoint him.

”Understood, Director Jiang. I’ll do my homework ahead of time.”

After Jiang Ming left, Wu Ting went to find Qin Donglai and told him about joining Jiang Ming’s research group.

”Wu Ting, congratulations. Being invited by Director Jiang is a great opportunity for you. Director Jiang’s laparoscopic technique is top-tier in our entire hospital. You should learn all you can.”

”Also, maintaining a good relationship with Jiang Ming will be a great benefit to your future development. The Jiang Family is very powerful in Qinghe City.”

Qin Donglai didn’t want to go into too much detail too soon. For someone of Wu Ting’s current standing, some things were better left for him to discover on his own. He would find out when the time was right.

Qin Donglai understood that Wu Ting was destined for greater things. This day was bound to come; he just hadn’t expected it so soon.

”Wu Ting, Director Huo was looking for me just now, and he asked me to tell you to go to his office.”

After they finished talking, Qin Donglai relayed the message, ”It’s about finalizing your tenure as soon as possible.”

Wu Ting quickly hurried to Huo Yun’s office.

Seeing Wu Ting, Huo Yun was in a very good mood:

”Wu Ting, I called you over for two main things. First, I want to congratulate you. The issue of your official position has been resolved. However, because your academic qualifications and research achievements don’t meet the hard requirements, some directors in the hospital have raised objections, so we can’t make the official announcement just yet. But it’s only a matter of time.”

”How long that takes depends on your paper. After this emergency rescue operation, you’ve accumulated enough case studies. I’ve already spoken with Deputy Director Huang Hong from the National Medical Department, as well as Qin Donglai and Luo Ming. They will all cooperate with you to get your paper written as soon as possible.”

”As soon as your paper is published in a journal, I will personally apply to have the announcement of your tenure and retention at the hospital issued.”

”Wu Ting, even though the formalities aren’t complete, you are now an official member of our Emergency Department. Jiang Ming should have already spoken with you. I want you to assist him well in his bid for ’Path to Health.’ His project isn’t mature yet and needs further refinement.”

Huo Yun looked at Wu Ting, a small flame of ambition igniting in his heart.

”Wu Ting, what I’m about to tell you is the second matter, and this must not be spoken to a third person. Just remember what I say. This is also the future I’ve planned for you!”

”Perhaps Jiang Ming is currently limiting his research to laparoscopic appendectomy. But for a long time now, I’ve had a grand plan.”

”Previously, I was limited by a lack of talent and funding, so I never proposed it in detail. But now, seeing Jiang Ming and seeing you, I’m ready to restart this plan. I intend to establish a provincial-level key specialty within the Emergency Department.”

Hearing Huo Yun’s plan, Wu Ting was somewhat surprised.

A so-called key medical specialty is a department within a hospital that specializes in treating one or more specific diseases. A key specialty possesses a high level of professionalism and technical skill, allowing it to provide more specialized medical services and also enhance the department’s influence.

”I plan to create the ’Emergency Surgery Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Key Specialty.’ It will include the laparoscopic appendectomy that Director Jiang is currently researching, as well as cholecystectomy, biliary surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, hernia repair, and so on. Eventually, after the key specialty project is launched, we’ll gradually introduce procedures like colonoscopy, examination and treatment, EST, and more.”

”We will build a key emergency surgery specialty in our City First Hospital’s Emergency Department that is top-tier in the province and a leader in the country. And you... you are the core figure in this plan, and the future academic leader of this key specialty!”

Huo Yun was genuinely and sincerely planning out Wu Ting’s future. This wasn’t some empty promise; this was a platform Huo Yun was giving Wu Ting, a space with enough room for him to grow.

”Of course, this grand project is still in its nascent stages. It will have to use Jiang Ming’s project as a starting point to build public and professional opinion. Next, I plan to formulate a three-to-five-year plan, gradually apply for funding and new equipment from the hospital, and at the same time, recruit more talent and establish more research projects.”

”Wu Ting, I hope that you’ll follow Jiang Ming, start by mastering laparoscopic techniques, and continuously improve yourself. Then, you’ll be able to stand on your own, even form your own team, launch more research projects, introduce more new Surgical Techniques in our Emergency Department, and publish more papers in national-level journals.”

”Afterward, as a reward, in addition to funding, research opportunities, excellence awards, and personal title promotions, you’ll also receive a bonus of 1-5% of the profits from the projects you launch, based on their economic benefits.”

The rewards Huo Yun proposed were truly tangible, and what’s more, Huo Yun was a man of his word.

The fact that he would share such a top-level strategic plan with Wu Ting showed that Huo Yun was grooming him as his successor.

”Of course, I know this plan might seem too grand and distant for you right now. Don’t be impatient. You still have a lot to learn.”

Huo Yun didn’t expect Wu Ting to shoulder this great responsibility right away. He was just painting a blueprint for the next three to five years to keep him from feeling lost and to give him long-term motivation.

For now, for something like the ’Path to Health’ program, Jiang Ming would still be the backbone. Wu Ting was just talent in reserve.

Huo Yun patted Wu Ting’s shoulder:

”Wu Ting, from now on, you have two tasks. First, get your paper published. Second, follow Director Jiang and participate fully in this laparoscopic appendectomy project. Work on mastering laparoscopic techniques as quickly as possible.”
