Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Good News, the Paper Has Been Submitted

Before heading to the Military Hospital with Director Zheng for special training, Wu Ting finally finished his first paper.

His adoring junior, Cheng Feng, along with a junior doctor under Huang Hong in the National Medical Department, completed all the observational metrics and efficacy evaluations according to Wu Ting’s outline.

Cheng Feng worked overtime day and night for a solid week to finally put the finishing touches on the entire paper.

”Brother Ting, I’m happy to report that I didn’t let you down. Under your guidance and coordination, Du Juan from the National Medical Department and I finished the rest of the work. I’ve sent the complete paper to your email. When you have time, you can review and polish it before submitting it for publication.”

”With your help, my own paper is also nearing completion. I should be able to submit it in another week. If all goes well, it should be published in about four months.”

”But the journal I’m submitting to can’t compare to the top-tier one you’re aiming for.”

Although Cheng Feng had lost his spot to remain at the hospital, he became even more diligent. Collaborating on Wu Ting’s paper had also taught him a great deal.

”You’ve worked hard. I’ve been undergoing special training in laparoscopic appendectomy with Director Jiang and Director Zheng recently. When the right opportunity comes up, you can join me in surgery.”

Wu Ting really appreciated Cheng Feng and saw him as a good candidate for a team he might build in the future. He planned to guide him whenever he had the chance.

”That would be amazing. Brother Ting, you’re already performing laparoscopic surgery. That’s incredible.”

After receiving the draft from Cheng Feng, Wu Ting immediately opened it to check. He made some improvements to certain technical sections before submitting it to Huo Yun.

Huo Yun held Wu Ting in extremely high regard now. Hearing that Wu Ting’s paper was finished made him more excited than if he had finished one of his own.

Huo Yun set aside his work and immediately began a careful review. He had to admit, with the joint cooperation of the Emergency Department and the National Medical Department, plus the assistance of two top students like Cheng Feng and Du Juan from the National Medical Department, and with Wu Ting providing the core technical expertise, the quality of the paper was remarkably high.

Huo Yun read it through carefully twice and couldn’t find a single fault.

’Now we just have to wait for it to be published.’

Once the paper was published, Wu Ting would naturally secure a permanent position at City First Hospital and officially become a member of the Emergency Department.

Huo Yun was even more anxious about this than Wu Ting himself. He called Wu Ting directly and summoned him to his office.

”Wu Ting, I’ve reviewed your paper carefully. Even by the standards of the *Jin Country Critical Care Medicine Journal*, its quality is exceptionally high.”

”In my experience, the *Jin Country Critical Care Medicine Journal* is a core domestic journal. Its high prestige means the publication fees are also steep, around 5,000 to 6,000 yuan. However, I’ll apply to have this fee covered directly by the department’s funds. As for the paper, I’ll also personally contact the editorial department of the *Jin Country Critical Care Medicine Journal* to get you published as quickly as possible.”

Hearing that Director Huo was willing to waive the publication fees for him, Wu Ting was naturally delighted.

”Thank you so much, Director Huo. But you don’t need to trouble yourself with the submission. I added Professor Shen Guofeng on Xunxin, and he told me before that he’s the head of the editorial department for the *Jin Country Critical Care Medicine Journal*. He said I could submit any papers directly to him, and he would put it on the fast track.”

”Oh, oh, right, right. I’d completely forgotten about that. It’s good you have Professor Shen on Xunxin. In that case, just send it directly to him.”

Listening to Wu Ting talk so casually about submitting to the *Jin Country Critical Care Medicine Journal*, Huo Yun felt a mix of joy and anxiety.

The joy came from the fact that even he didn’t receive such preferential treatment from Shen Guofeng. What doctor wouldn’t be envious of the treatment Wu Ting was getting!

The anxiety stemmed from the fear of an outsider poaching his prized talent.

’Shen Guofeng’s motives for getting close to Wu Ting aren’t pure! He definitely wants to lure him away. No, I have to give Wu Ting a stronger sense of belonging and loyalty to City First Hospital’s Emergency Department.’

Huo Yun feigned composure and gave Wu Ting a smile.

”Go ahead and contact him then. Once the paper is published and the sample copy arrives, let me know immediately. I’ll have the hospital issue the notice for your permanent position right away.”

”Alright, thank you, Director Huo.”

After watching Wu Ting leave, Huo Yun immediately took out his phone and called Dean Tang.

”Dean Tang, I need to report something to you. It’s about Wu Ting... Yes, Professor Shen, the Chief Director of the Emergency Department at Haijin Port Hospital, thinks very highly of Wu Ting. He has invited him over several times, and I’ve had to block him, both openly and discreetly... Fortunately, Wu Ting is good-natured and loyal. He has an attachment to me and the department...”

”Yes, I can guarantee it—his paper is one hundred percent going to be published. Moreover, the research project on laparoscopic appendectomy has officially begun...”

”Therefore, I’m requesting a research fund of 500,000 yuan from you, and also to purchase a new batch of the latest laparoscopic equipment. I’ve already decided to make Wu Ting the core figure of this project for our department for the next five years...”

”At the same time, I plan to allocate 3% of the future project revenue from Wu Ting’s research topic as a bonus for the medical staff. As for Wu Ting, I will also support his application for next year’s Fan City Science and Technology Progress Award...”

Huo Yun appealed to reason and emotion. Dean Tang already held Wu Ting in high regard, and with Huo Yun’s five-year grand plan as a guarantee,

Dean Tang understood that retaining a talent like Wu Ting was a matter of utmost urgency.

”Understood. Prepare a written application, and also put together a proper report on your future plans for the emergency department’s specialized focus on minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical diagnosis and treatment.”

Meanwhile, Wu Ting sent his paper, titled ”The Efficacy of Combined Western Medicine and the Clearing Heat, Dissolving Phlegm, and Promoting Bowel Movement Method in Treating Post-Tracheotomy Pulmonary Infections,” to Professor Shen Guofeng.

Upon receiving it, Shen Guofeng immediately sent Wu Ting a few heartfelt voice messages.

”Wu Ting, I’m very happy to receive your paper submission. I’ll get this arranged immediately.”

”Wu Ting, I know you still want to stay at City First Hospital for now. However, that doesn’t prevent you from coming here for an academic exchange. If you’re willing, you could come to our hospital for a period of advanced study. Our team would welcome you with open arms.”

”Also, I’ve seen those defamatory videos of you on social media platforms like Kuaiyin recently. They’ve had quite an impact. Look, if you need any help, just say the word.”

Listening to Shen Guofeng’s voice messages, Wu Ting was very moved.

”Thank you for your concern, Professor Shen. I’m fine.”

”When I get the chance, I will definitely apply to come to your esteemed hospital for advanced study. Right now, I’m undergoing special training in laparoscopic appendectomy. It’s a key project for our department, so I can’t get away for the time being.”

A short while later, Professor Shen replied again.

”Understood. Wu Ting, I have a major surgery coming up that might last for over ten hours straight. I’ll have one of my PhD students take a look at your paper first. I’ll get back to you after I’m free and have had a chance to read it.”

”I’m quite busy, so my reply might be a little late. Just giving you a heads-up.”

”Right, I’m very optimistic about your project. At this year’s emergency burn care conference, aside from promoting the Haijin Gang Burn Fluid Replacement Formula, if your project yields results, I can make an introduction for you and reserve a dedicated session for you to present on your topic.”

”Wu Ting, the current public opinion about you could really affect your future. If you need it, I can step up and vouch for you. In Jin Province, I, Shen Guofeng, still have some influence.”

After adding a few more remarks, Shen Guofeng finally got busy.

Seeing Shen Guofeng’s replies, Wu Ting felt very fortunate to have met such a great mentor and friend.

”Professor Shen, it is truly my honor to have met you. With a great mentor and friend like you, I will definitely work even harder. I will use my own abilities and actions to counter the false narratives online.”

[Ding! Congratulations, Host, for completing a mentor-and-friend interaction with Professor Shen Guofeng. An entry has been dropped from Professor Shen Guofeng: Suspended Gasless Abdominal Laparoscopic Technique (Purple). A gasless laparoscopic technique created by Professor Shen Guofeng’s team, which can reduce the cardiopulmonary demands on the patient and the risks of intraoperative anesthesia. After settling the matter of the paper submission, Director Zheng came looking for Wu Ting early the next morning.

”Wu Ting, Director Zhang has made all the arrangements. We’ll head over to the Military Hospital for the exchange in a little while.”
